PROGRAMMABLE DEVICES TO GENERATE ALERTS BASED UPON DETECTION OF PHYSICAL OBJECTS
A device, computer-readable medium, and method for performing a remedial action in response to detecting a presence of an object are disclosed. For example, a processor may receive a configuration file, the configuration file identifying an object, an alert, and a remedial action, detect a presence of the object, wherein the object is a triggering object relating to a mental condition of a user, send the alert to a monitoring device, in response to detecting the presence of the object, and perform the remedial action, in response to detecting the presence of the object.
Video rebroadcasting with multiplexed communications and display via smart mirrors
During a first time period and for a first user, a second user is automatically selected based on competitive data of the first user and competitive data of the second user, and a workout selection is sent to cause a video of a workout to be displayed during a second time period on a smart mirror of the first user and a smart mirror of the second user. During the second time period, a live stream of the first user exercising is displayed at the smart mirror of the second user, and a live stream of the second user exercising is received and displayed at the smart mirror of the first user. During the second time period, a performance score of the first user and a performance score of the second user is displayed at the smart mirrors of the first user and the second user.
WIRELESS AND RETROFITTABLE IN-SHOE SYSTEM FOR REAL-TIME ESTIMATION OF KINEMATIC AND KINETIC GAIT PARAMETERS
A quantitative gait training and/or analysis system includes one or more footwear modules that may include a piezoresistive sensor, an inertial sensor and an independent logic unit. The footwear module functions to permit the extraction of gait kinematics and evaluation thereof in real time, or data may be stored for later reduction and analysis. Embodiments relating to calibration-based estimation of kinematic gait parameters are described.
METHODS AND SYSTEMS FOR CAPTURING AND VISUALIZING SPINAL MOTION
Exemplary embodiments of wearable stretch sensors and applications of using the same are disclosed. In embodiments, the sensors and the applications disclosed herein can be used to capture spinal motion and posture information.
Use of biomarkers and therapeutic agents with surgical devices
Biomarkers are collected and used to determine biological propensities of a patient, to determine the efficacy of medical devices, to select and administer therapeutic agents, to select medical devices, to make adjustments to medical devices, and/or to adjust surgical techniques. An apparatus includes a port to draw a biological fluid (e.g., a mist) from a surgical site. The apparatus includes a sensor having a cantilevered beam. The beam includes substances selected to attract certain biomarkers as the fluid is communicated across the beam. The same apparatus or another apparatus is used to administer a therapeutic agent based at least in part on collected biomarker data. The therapeutic agent delivery apparatus may include a device that is also used to create a wound at a surgical site. For instance, a harmonic surgical instrument may be used to both collect biomarkers and administer a therapeutic agent (e.g., gene therapy using sonoporation).
Biofeedback system
Apparatus for providing muscular biofeedback, comprising: facewear supporting biosensors arranged such that, in use, the biosensors are situated for detecting activity of a predetermined set of facial muscles; a feedback unit for providing biofeedback to a wearer of the facewear; and a control unit coupled to the biosensors and the feedback unit and arranged to identify patterns in the signals from the biosensors characteristic of one or more predefined imbalances in muscle activity between the left and right sides of the face; wherein the control unit is configured to, on identifying a pattern in the signals from biosensors characteristic of a first predefined imbalance in muscle activity between the left and right sides of the face, cause the feedback unit to provide biofeedback in correspondence with the imbalance.
Notifications on a user device based on activity detected by an activity monitoring device
Methods, systems and devices are provided for motion-activated display of messages on an activity monitoring device. In one embodiment, method for presenting a message on an activity monitoring device is provided, including the following method operations: downloading a plurality of messages to the device; detecting a stationary state of the device; detecting a movement of the device from the stationary state; in response to detecting the movement from the stationary state, selecting one of a plurality of messages, and displaying the selected message on the device.
Method and device for detecting speech patterns and errors when practicing fluency shaping techniques
A method and system for detecting errors when practicing fluency shaping exercises. The method includes setting each threshold of a set of thresholds to a respective predetermined initial value; analyzing a voice production to compute a set of first energy levels composing the voice production, wherein the voice production is of a user practicing a fluency shaping exercise; detecting at least one speech-related error based on the computed set of first energy levels, a set of second energy levels, and the set of thresholds, wherein the detection of the at least one speech-related error is with respect to the fluency shaping exercise being practiced by the user, wherein the set of second energy levels is determined based on a calibration process; and generating feedback indicating the detected at least one speech-related error.
System and method for making a recommendation for a user of a life management system
A life management system receives data from a client device worn by a user, the data comprising biotelemetry data and activity data collected about a user wearing the client device. The life management system generates snapshot information using information from a group consisting of: the biotelemetry data, activity data, social data associated with the user, and user profile information associated with the user. The life management system generates a recommendation using portions of the snapshot information, and updates the snapshot information with the recommendation. The life management system executes a recommendation associated with the snapshot information in accordance with the user controls associated with the user.
Shoe-based analysis system
In one example, an apparatus. includes a shoe having a sole with at least a portion of foam replaced with a composite polymeric foam, at least one probe disposed in the composite polymeric foam, a voltage detector coupled to the probe that detects voltage data generated by the composite polymeric foam, and a transformation module that converts voltage data generated by the composite polymeric foam in response to deformation events into GRF, acceleration, or pressure data. In another example, a method includes receiving voltage data produced by composite polymeric foam, the composite polymeric foam providing support and padding in the sole of a shoe, converting the voltage data to force data, comparing the force data to a profile, and transmitting, when the force data fails to fall within a threshold of the profile, a feedback signal to a physical feedback device, the feedback signal indicating a difference with the profile.
