In an embodiment, a method of preventing or mitigating motion sickness in a subject is included, the method tracking motion of the subject using a first motion sensor; estimating a vestibular system input based on tracked motion of the subject; tracking head position of the subject using the first motion sensor; estimating a visual system input based on tracked head position of the subject; estimating consistency between the vestibular system input and the visual system input; and initiating a responsive measure if the estimated consistency crosses a threshold value. Other embodiments are also included herein.
System for diagnosis and therapy of gaze stability
A system to improve vestibulo-ocular reflex (VOR) includes a display device; a head motion detector, the head motion detector being configured to detect at least one of a first angular rotational rate of a subject's head or a first acceleration of said subject's head in a first direction; a signal conditioner in communication with the head motion detector; a first gain control in communication with the signal conditioner; a second gain control in communication with the signal conditioner; a motion controller in communication with the display device and the first gain control and the second gain control; and a head motion-inducing device configured to induce a head motion on the subject. The head motion-inducing device includes a motor configured to rotate a head of the subject based on an instruction produced by a data processor.
Method for objective diagnostics of internuclear opthalmopligia, ocular lateral pulsion, progressive supernuclear palsy and glissades eye movements
A video oculography (VOG) system for calculation and display of Corrective Secondary Saccades Analysis is disclosed and utilized in a method for Objective Diagnostics of Internuclear Opthalmopligia, Ocular Lateral Pulsion, Progressive Supernuclear Palsy and Glissades. The method comprises the steps of using a VOG system to calculate corrective saccades. The VOG based system is configured to collect eye images of the patient in excess of 60 hz and configured to resolve eye movements smaller than at least 3 degrees of motion and collects eye movement data wherein at least one fixation target is presented to the subject in a defined position configured to yield a voluntary saccadic eye response from at least one eye of the patient. The latency, amplitude, accuracy and velocity of each respective corrective saccade and totals latency and accuracy are calculated.
Roadside impairment sensor
The present disclosure relates generally to a system and method for detecting or indicating a state of impairment of a test subject or user due to drugs or alcohol, and more particularly to a method, system and application or software program configured to creating a virtual-reality (“VR”) environment that implements drug and alcohol impairment tests, and which utilizes eye tracking technology to detect or indicate impairment.
PORTABLE HEAD-MOUNTED OCULAR-VESTIBULAR TESTING SYSTEM
A portable, miniaturized, lightweight ocular-vestibular testing unit with sensors in a head-mounted unit and processor and battery units either incorporated into the head-mount or on other parts of the body, such as a waist belt and connecting to one or more displays via wireless local network. A digital camera for each eye and multiple sensors are configured for ocular and vestibular system testing in a wide variety of positions and locations of a user. The unit records data from the digital cameras and sensors locally to the unit. Recorded data may be viewed via a wireless local network data connection on external displays.
Stimulus and eye tracking system
A system and method for stimulus & eye tracking, useful for the determination of the presence or strength of optokinetic nystagmus (OKN) typically for assessing visual acuity, comprises providing a novel visual stimulus effective to elicit OKN, which includes varying the visibility of a visual stimulus element, or displaying a series of visual stimulus elements so that a later displayed element has different visibility relative to an earlier displayed element. Visual stimulus elements may vanish or appear by reducing or increasing intensity, contrast, size and/or width of the elements or element boundaries. Visual stimulus elements comprise a perimeter that is darker than a background and a centre that is lighter than the background, and/or a perimeter that is lighter than a background and a centre that is darker than the background.
METRICS FOR IMPAIRMENT DETECTING DEVICE
The present disclosure relates generally to metrics used to detect or indicate a state of impairment in a test subject due to use of drugs or alcohol, and more particularly to metrics used in connection with a virtual-reality (“VR”) environment that implements drug and alcohol impairment tests, where the metrics are used to detect or indicate impairment.
Vestibular system examination device
A vestibular system examination device includes a platform unit and an examination unit. The platform unit includes a base, a driving mechanism mounted to the base, and a seat mounted to the driving mechanism and adapted for a user to sit thereon. The seat is driven movably and rotatably with six degrees of freedom by the driving mechanism. The examining unit includes a detector adapted for detecting eye movement or electrooculography of the user, a measuring module electrically connected to the platform unit for measuring location and displacement thereof, and a processing module electrically connected to the detector and the measuring module for receiving and processing data acquired from the detector and the measuring module.

SYSTEMS AND METHODS FOR OBSERVING EYE AND HEAD INFORMATION TO MEASURE OCULAR PARAMETERS AND DETERMINE HUMAN HEALTH STATUS
A system and/or method for determining human health uses a head-worn apparatus that comprises a head orientation sensor, an eye imaging device, and an electronic circuit. The head orientation sensor is configured for generating an electrical head orientation signal in response to head pitch or head yaw. The eye imaging device is configured for observing an eye feature from the sclera, cornea, iris, or pupil, and generates an eye electrical signal in response to eye position, horizontal eye movement, vertical eye movement, pupil size or eyeblinks at a plurality of times. The electronic circuit is configured for generating an ocular parameter measurement such as saccades, vestibulo-ocular reflex, vestibulo-ocular reflex cancellation, vergence, smooth pursuit, nystagmus, dynamic visual acuity, pupil size, and/or eyeblinks from the head and eye electrical signals. The ocular parameter measurement can be used to determine normal human health, a neurologic disorder, a biochemical health impairment, or a physiologic health impairment.
