DEVICES AND METHODS FOR IDENTIFYING AND MONITORING CHANGES OF A SUSPECT AREA OF A PATIENT
A device for acquiring first and subsequent images of a suspect area on a patient and methods for monitoring or detecting changes of the suspect area over time and providing notification when the changes exceed a threshold. The device may be an imaging device, such as a digital camera, possibly augmented with physical or optical devices for arranging the orientation and/or distance of the imaging device with respect to the suspect area. In addition, methods for identifying, relocating, acquiring a first and/or subsequent image of the suspect area, and performing a comparative analysis of respective images are also described. Results of the comparative analysis can be used to notify and/or assist a medical professional in treating or counselling the patient.
System and method for facilitating patient rehabilitation
A system and method for rehabilitating a patient. In some embodiments, a patient or other subject can stand on a balance plate and perform one or more tests in response to instructions or visual stimuli on a display screen. Data, such as Center of Pressure data, can be obtained from the balance plate and processed by a processor in tandem with the progression of a test presented on the display screen. The information can be correlated and used to assist in diagnosing or rehabilitating the patient or subject.
Method and apparatus for cuff-less blood pressure measurement in a mobile device
A system and method is presented for cuff-less blood pressure measurement in a mobile device. A key aspect of this disclosure is the discovery of a new location for blood pressure measurement at the fingertip of a subject and that reflectance-mode photoplethysmography can be used to help make this measurement. Through experiments in human subjects, it was discovered that it is indeed possible to measure systemic blood pressure by having a subject press the fingertip against a reflectance-mode photo-plethysmography-force sensor unit under visual guidance and then compute blood pressure from the resulting variable-amplitude blood volume oscillations and applied pressure via an oscillometric algorithm.
POSTURE MEASUREMENT SYSTEM FOR REALIGNMENT
Methods, devices, and systems are described for a posture measurement system. The posture measurement system includes a plane alignment measurer having at least two arms and an angle sensor configured to determine a first posture angle at which the patient is tilted relative to a first plane of symmetry. The posture measurement system includes a plane alignment laser tool having at least two arms and a laser configured to generate focused light that is used to determine a second posture angle at which the patient is tilted relative to a second plane of symmetry. The posture measurement system includes a controller configured to generate a rehabilitation routine for correcting posture misalignments where rehabilitation routine is based on the first posture angle and the second posture angle.
PILLOW FOR PERFORMING ROLL MANEUVER
The present invention provides a pillow for performing roll maneuvers, wherein a subject performs the roll maneuver by following a set of instructions specified on the pillow. The pillow includes one or more segments that are sequentially arranged, wherein the pillow can be folded and unfolded at a central section along a vertical axis using a connecting element. Each segment of the one or more segments, with the set of instructions, is contoured on either side of a horizontal axis of the surface of the pillow. The set of instructions allows the subject to perform the roll maneuvers, which causes debris present in any position in the horizontal canal of the inner ear of the subject to move towards an utricle.
Positioning unit for positioning a patent, imaging device and method for the optical generation of a positioning aid
A positioning unit includes a projector and a control unit and enables a particularly quick and precise positioning of a patient. In an embodiment, the control unit affects a control of the projector as a function of a protocol for a recording of an image of the patient such that the positioning unit is designed for the planar projection of a figure as a positioning aid on the patient couch. An immediately apparent area on the patient couch is then specified by the figure projected in a planar fashion, relative to which the patient can be positioned. The control unit can be used both to temporally control the projection process and also to control the figurative properties of the positioning aid. Furthermore, the control unit can include a device for calculating a control signal so that the control unit brings about control of the projector with the control signal.
Optical Marker to Adjust the Turntable of a 3D Body Scanner
A 3D body scanner for generating a 3-D body model includes a turntable configured and disposed for carrying a body that is to be scanned. The 3D body scanner includes a light emitter that is configured and disposed for projecting an optical marker indicating where the turntable should be situated in relation to the 3D body scanner. The 3D body scanner includes a diffuser, a feedback device and a wireless interface.
MEMBRANE-BASED FOOT IMAGING APPARATUS INCLUDING A CAMERA FOR MONITORING FOOT POSITIONING
A foot imaging apparatus includes a support structure and a flexible membrane suspended from the support structure and configured to receive a foot thereon. The apparatus also includes a three-dimensional imager located under the flexible membrane and configured to acquire a topographical plantar image of the foot on the flexible membrane. The apparatus further includes a monitoring unit for monitoring a monitored region in order to evaluate a positioning of the foot on the flexible membrane. The monitoring unit includes a camera having a field of view, and at least one light deflector arranged to deflect light from the monitored region into the field of view of the camera. The camera acquires a monitoring image of the monitored region after deflection by the at least one light deflector. The monitoring image contains information about the positioning of the foot on the flexible membrane. A foot imaging method is also provided.
Methods and systems to collect a biological sample
Sample processing methods and systems to collect a biological sample. A device may be configured collect a predetermined volume of a sample in sample chamber and seal the chamber upon activation. The device may be further configured to mix the mix the sample with a predetermined volume of a reagent and/or mix the sample and the reagent in a pre-determined ratio.
