Polycationic polymeric antimicrobial surfactant and polymeric biocompatible antimicrobial surfactant compositions are useful in dispersing various compounds in a carrier liquid. The polycationic polymeric antimicrobial surfactant and polymeric biocompatible antimicrobial surfactant compositions employ polymers having both hydrophilic domains and hydrophobic domains so that the compositions can disperse particles such as polymer particles or droplets in a continuous phase as well as provide stable dispersions that have not been provided before. The antimicrobial properties of the compositions provide much-needed capabilities of fighting infectious agents such as bacteria and viruses in a wide spectrum of products such as paint, adhesives, and coatings. Methods of using these compositions as well as methods of making products using the compositions are disclosed.

DISPERSIBLE ANTIMICROBIAL COMPLEX AND COATINGS THEREFROM

Disclosed are latexes, suspensions, and colloids having a cationic antimicrobial compound complexed with an anionic surfactant. The surfactant may have greater affinity for the antimicrobial compound than other anionic surfactants and other anions in the latex, suspension, or colloid that contribute to disperse phase stability to prevent disrupting the dispersions. Dispersions containing the antimicrobial compound may therefore have a shelf life comparable to dispersions that are otherwise identical but lack the cationic antimicrobial compound and its complexed anionic surfactant. Coatings made with the complexes can exhibit essentially undiminished antimicrobial activity.

A multifunctional broad spectrum antimicrobial composition is described. The composition can be incorporated into a wood preservative, or used as an additive to provide antimicrobial properties to water-based wood coatings. The composition is a concentrated water-miscible emulsion containing 3-iodo-2-propynyl N-butylcarbamate (IPBC), carbendazim (BCM) and propiconazole (PPCZ), and has antimicrobial activity against a wide variety of fungal organisms, including surface molds, blue stain fungi and wood rotting fungi. The composition can act as an in-can preservative and is useful for antimicrobial protection of wood and wood-based substrates.

TWO COMPONENT ALPHATIC POLYURETHANE/POLYUREA/POLYASPARTIC COATING
20200239702 · 2020-07-30 ·

A system and method for creating and coating a polymer-based coatings, in particular, a two-component aliphatic polymer-based coating with antimicrobial properties. The donning and coating of the polymer compound provides a protective layer on a surface that provides support and protection against diseases and infections for passing individuals. The polymer is composed of a two-part composition; the first part of the polymer made out of a combination of water, polylol, and paint additives, and the other part of the polymer made out of a combination of hexamethalyne, a catalyst, and an antimicrobial agent. The two-part polymer provides an antimicrobial layer on a surface in an effort to prevent the spread of infectious diseases.
