Aqueous dispersions including polyester particles, photopolymerizable compositions, articles, and methods
The present disclosure provides an aqueous dispersion. The aqueous dispersion includes a) water; b) a surfactant having at least one ethylenically unsaturated group; and c) polyester particles dispersed in the water. The polyester particles include a water-insoluble polyester having a weight average molecular weight of 20 kiloDaltons or greater, and the polyester particles have an average diameter that is submicron in size. Further, the present disclosure provides a method of making the aqueous dispersion. The method includes a) dissolving a water-insoluble polyester in a water-immiscible solvent to form a polyester solution; b) combining the polyester solution with an aqueous solution including water and a surfactant; and c) removing at least a portion of the water-immiscible solvent to form the aqueous dispersion including polyester particles dispersed in the water. The present disclosure also provides a photopolymerizable composition including a) water; b) a surfactant; c) polyester particles dispersed in the water; d) a photoinitiator; e) at least one ethylenically unsaturated monomer dispersed in the water; and f) an optional polymerization inhibitor. The present disclosure also provides coatings and articles prepared from the aqueous dispersion or photopolymerizable composition.
SURFACTANTS FOR INKS, PAINTS, AND ADHESIVES
Inks, paints, adhesives, and paint strippers may be formulated to include one or more surfactants, from one or more surfactant classes, such as derivatives of amino acids that have surface-active properties.
POLYOLEFIN DISPERSION AND EPOXY DISPERSION BLENDS FOR IMPROVED DAMAGE TOLERANCE
The present invention provides aqueous compositions for making damage tolerant coatings comprising a blend of (i) from 2 to 30 wt. %, based on the total weight of solids in the composition, of an acid or anhydride functionalized polyolefin dispersion having an average particle size of from 0.2 to 5 microns, and (ii) a film forming dispersion of one or more epoxy resins chosen from epoxy resins having an epoxy equivalent weight (EEW) of from 150 to 4,000 having an average particle size of from 0.2 to 1.0 microns, wherein the polyolefin dispersion is stabilized with from 2 to 8 wt. %, based on the total weight of solids in the composition, one or more anionic surfactants, such as a sulfate containing surfactant, and, further wherein, the compositions have a pH of from 3 to 8.
FAST CURE AQUEOUS PAINT COMPOSITION
The present invention relates to an aqueous paint composition comprising an acrylic polymer emulsion anionically stabilized at basic pH with a volatile base and containing self-crosslinking functionalities, an epoxy-polyamine adduct, and a high boiling glycol-ether. The film obtained by the aqueous paint composition according to the present invention as well as the use thereof in horizontal road marking are also described.

The invention relates to block co-polymer comprising at least one first block and at least one second block which is different from the first block, wherein the first block comprises repeating units 1, and the second block comprises repeating units 2, wherein Z represents O or NH, R.sub.1 represents H or CH.sub.3, R.sub.2 represents a group selected from hydrocarbyl groups and ether group-containing groups, R.sub.3 represents an organic group having 2 to 4 carbon atoms, R.sub.4 and R.sub.5 independently represent an organic group, wherein R.sub.4 and R.sub.5 are optionally linked to each other to form a cyclic structure, and wherein the first block comprises at least six different types of repeating units 1.

PHOTOCATALYTIC COATING MATERIAL AND SPRAYER PRODUCT
The present invention provides a photocatalytic coating material that can be stored for an extended period of time without allowing proliferation of, for example, bacteria and fungi. The photocatalytic coating material in accordance with the present invention contains: a dispersion medium containing water; photocatalytic fine particles dispersed in the dispersion medium; and silver ions, a concentration of the silver ions of the photocatalytic coating material is 0.6 ppm or more.

LATEX PAINT CONTAINING TITANIUM DIOXIDE PIGMENT
The present invention relates to latex paints, which contain a) a multistage carboxylated polymer latex binder obtainable by multistage aqueous emulsion polymerisation of a monomer composition M consisting of at least one non-ionic monomer M1, which is selected from C.sub.1-C.sub.20-alkyl esters of acrylic acid, C.sub.1-C.sub.20-alkylesters of methacrylic acid, and vinyl aromatic monomers; one or more monoethylenically unsaturated monomers M2, which are selected from monoethylenically unsaturated monocarboxylic acids having 3 to 6 carbon atoms and monoethylenically unsaturated dicarboxylic acids having 4 to 6 carbon atoms, and optionally one or more non-ionic monomers M3, which are different from monomers M1; where in at least one stage, the relative amount of monomers M2 in added in this stage is at least 6% by weight, based on the total amount of monomers added in said stage, the total amount of monomers M2 being from 0.05 to 5% by weight, based on the total amount of the monomer composition M; b) a titanium dioxide pigment; c) a polymeric dispersant PD which is selected from homo and copolymers of monomers M4, which are selected from monoethylenically unsaturated monocarboxylic acids having 3 to 6 carbon atoms and monoethylenically unsaturated dicarboxylic acids having 4 to 6 carbon atoms, where the monomers M4 make up at least 85% of the monomers forming the polymeric dispersant; and d) an associative thickener polymer.

An aqueous dispersion comprising: water; a hydrophobic aromatic polyester having a number average molecular weight of greater than 7,000 Daltons; and a water-dispersible aromatic polyester dispersant; wherein the hydrophobic aromatic polyester and the water-dispersible aromatic polyester dispersant form a stable aqueous dispersion; and wherein the hydrophobic aromatic polyester is present in the aqueous dispersion in an amount of less than 50 wt-%, based on the total weight of the hydrophobic aromatic polyester and the water-dispersible aromatic polyester dispersant.
