The coating composition according to the present invention comprises: (1) the inventive aqueous dispersion comprising the melt blending product of: (a) from 50 to 99 percent by weight of one or more first polyesters, based on the total solid content of the dispersion, wherein said one or more first polyesters have an acid number in the range of from less than 15, for example less than 10, or in the alternative less than 5, based on the total solid content of the one or more first polyesters; (b) from 1 to 50 percent by weight of one or more stabilizing agents comprising at least one second polyester, based on the total solid content of the dispersion, wherein said second polyester has a carboxylic acid group and an acid number equal to or greater than 15, for example greater than 20, based on the solid content of the second polyester; (c) one or more neutralizing agents; and (d) from 15 to 90 percent by weight of water, based on the total weight of the dispersion; wherein said dispersion has a solid content of 10 to 85 percent, based on the total weight of the dispersion; and (2) one or more cross-linking agents.
Polymer emulsion having heat sealability for blister package and preparation method thereof
The present invention provides a polymer emulsion having heat sealability for a blister package, and a method for preparing the same. Since the polymer emulsion of the present invention includes latex particles having an average particle diameter of a nanosize and a low unimodal particle size distribution, it may exhibit uniform and stable emulsion properties, particularly excellent heat sealability, and thus may be suitably used for a blister package and on the like. Furthermore, the polymer emulsion of the present invention is polymerized in an aqueous medium without using an organic solvent, and thus enables provision of a blister package with minimized harmfulness to a human body and the environment.
N,N-Dialkyl glucamine for stabilising polymer dispersions
The invention relates to the use of an amine base as neutralisation agent for polymer dispersions, characterised in that the amine base used corresponds to the formula (I),

MOLECULARLY SELF-ASSEMBLING NANOCOMPOSITE BARRIER COATING FOR GAS BARRIER APPLICATION AND FLAME RETARDANCY
Disclosed is a transparent self-assembling polymer clay nanocomposite coating that is useful in food, drink and electronic packaging as a gas barrier and on textiles and clothing as a flame retardant coating. The coating includes two main components a water dispersible polymer and a sheet like nanoparticle. The coatings may be applied to any substrate. The coatings are applied sequentially with polymer being applied first followed by the nanoparticles. This sequence results in the self-assembly of a highly ordered nanocomposite film that exhibits high barrier properties and flame retardancy. The desired level of gas barrier or flame retardancy desired can be adjusted by the number of bilayers applied.
Active energy ray curable aqueous emulsions
The present invention relates to an aqueous radiation curable composition comprising: (I) at least one ethylenically unsaturated compound (A), and (II) at least one emulsifier (B) comprising alternating polyalkylene oxide segments, wherein said emulsifier optionally bears one or more groups selected from alkyl groups, aryl groups hydroxyl groups and/or ethylenically unsaturated groups, and wherein said emulsifier (B) has an HLB value of at least 4.5, preferably at least 7. The compositions of the invention are particularly suited for the manufacture of sprayable eco-friendly hardcoats, but they are also suitable for the making of inks, overprint varnishes and adhesives, alone or in combination with e.g. a water-borne polymer dispersion.
COATING COMPOSITION WITH PHOSPHORUS ACID-FUNCTIONALIZED LATEX PARTICLES AND ACID FUNCTIONALIZED DISPERSANTS
The present invention relates to a composition comprising: a) an aqueous dispersion of i) polymer particles functionalized with structural units of a phosphorus acid monomer; and ii) TiO.sub.2 particles; b) a sulfur acid functionalized dispersant; and c) a carboxylic acid functionalized dispersant. The composition of the present invention addresses a need in the art by providing a way to tune TiO.sub.2-binder composite formation efficiency with relative ease.
AIR-DRYING TYPE WATER-BORNE PAINT COMPOSITION
Provided are: a two-pack air-drying type water-borne paint composition comprising a first agent and a second agent, wherein the first agent contains a water-borne epoxy-based amine resin (A) that has at least one amino group selected from the group consisting of a primary amino group and a secondary amino group in a molecule thereof and has an amine equivalent of 500 to 2000, and the second agent contains an epoxy resin emulsion (B); and a water-borne epoxy-based amine resin (A) that can be used for the paint composition.
Phosphorus acid functionalized opaque polymer
The present invention relates to opaque polymers functionalized with phosphorus acid groups, composites of TiO.sub.2 particles and the opaque polymers, and methods for their preparation. The composites are useful in coatings formulations and have been shown to exhibit improved hiding benefits in coated substrates over compositions containing non-functionalized opaque polymer and TiO.sub.2.
Thermosetting coating compositions
The present invention provides emulsions comprising curable polyesters and certain surfactants. The emulsions are useful as coatings binders in waterborne thermosetting coating compositions and can be used in conjunction with cross-linking compounds reactive with curable polyesters. Also provided are shaped or formed articles coated with the waterborne thermosetting coating compositions of the invention.
