The present invention relates to an emeraldine base composite, its preparation, and use as an effective anticorrosive pigment additive for corrosion inhibition. The emeraldine base composite comprises an insulating form of polyaniline or its derivatives adhered to an inorganic or organic material substrate such that the emeraldine base covers from about 1-100% surface of the material. Inter alia, the emeraldine base composite can be added to a coating as an anticorrosive pigment additive that inhibits corrosion and as a filler material that increases strength and barrier properties of coating.

A waterborne heat-insulation coating uses a silicon dioxide dispersion with silicon dioxide evenly dispersed in resin through a sol-gel method as a heat-insulation agent; since the silicon dioxide dispersion has great fineness and large specific surface area of between 30.1 and 100 m.sup.2/g, the waterborne heat-insulation coating when applied to building surfaces forms a coating layer that features a packed structure, a smooth surface, and a high surface reflectivity of 85% or more; resulted in that the coating layer can effectively block infrared rays and provide excellent thermal shielding effects, stain resistance, and durability.

A method of coating a cementitious and/or masonry substrate includes applying an aqueous coating composition to the cementitious and/or masonry substrate. The aqueous coating composition includes at least one pigment, optionally at least one filler, at least one emulsified polymeric binder, at least one water-soluble silicate, and optionally at least one additive. The emulsified polymeric binder includes at least one of: a)(meth)acrylamide or derivative thereof as a polymerized monomer; or b) 1 weight % or more of at least one surfactant based on the total dry weight of the total monomer in the emulsified polymeric binder. The aqueous coating composition has a weight ratio of emulsified polymeric binder to the water-soluble silicate from 65:35 to 95:5 on a dry weight basis. The aqueous coating composition also has a pigment volume concentration (PVC) from 5% to 85.

The invention relates to an aqueous coating composition, a process for preparing the same, and a coated article. The aqueous coating composition comprises (a) a polymer A comprising units derived from an alpha-olefin and one or more comonomers selected from the group of methacrylates, acrylates, methacrylic acid, acrylic acid, maleates, maleic acid, maleic anhydride, and salts thereof; (b) a polymer B comprising units derived from one or more monomers selected from the group of methacrylates, acrylates, methacrylic acid, acrylic acid, maleates, maleic acid, maleic anhydride, and salts thereof; (c) at least one pigment in an amount in the range of 0.1 to 30 wt. %, based on the total dry weight of the coating composition, the at least one pigment being selected from the group consisting of clay minerals, silicates, brucite, magnesium carbonate, barite, perlite, satin white, gypsum, aluminum oxide, titanium dioxide, surface-reacted calcium carbonates, and mixtures thereof; (d) optionally wax.
