Porous Silicon Oxide Beads for Use As Drying Agents for Waterborne Latex Paint Compositions
A highway marking paint is provided formed from a waterborne latex paint and porous silica beads having a pore volume in the range of 0.3 cc/g to 3.0 cc/g. The silica beads enable the paint to achieve sufficient viscosity to permit the application of a highway marking of at least 40 mil and preferably at least 120 mil. The highway marking paint can also include retroreflective glass beads. Optionally, the highway marking paint further includes an acrylic polymer emulsion. The porous silica in bead form enhances the flowability of the porous silica beads and retroreflective beads.
COATING MATERIAL FOR PREVENTION OF METAL CORROSION, AND PROCESS FOR PRODUCING COATING FILM FOR PREVENTION OF METAL CORROSION
A coating material for preventing metal corrosion contains 50 to 99% by mass of an inorganic layered compound having an average particle size of 10 m or less; 1 to 50% by mass of a corrosion inhibitor; and a liquid medium, in which the total content of the inorganic layered compound and the corrosion inhibitor is 100% by mass.
Precipitated calcium carbonate particles and use thereof
Use, as an opacifier, of precipitated calcium carbonate particles at least partially in the form of nano fibers or nanochain like agglomerates constituted by at least two interconnected primary particles.
Method of making a colloid and nanoporous layer
This application features a method of forming a nanoporous layer. The method includes steps of reducing metal ions in a reverse micelle phase composition to form nanoparticles, removing surfactant from the composition to form clusters of the nanoparticles, dispensing the composition including the nanoparticle clusters dispersed in a liquid on a substrate, and drying to form the nanoporous layer. The nanoporous layer includes nanoparticles deposited to form a three dimensional network of irregularly shaped bodies. The nanoporous layer also includes a three dimensional network of intercluster spaces that are not occupied by the three dimensional network of irregularly shaped bodies.
Coated pigment
A main object of the present invention to provide a coated pigment that is composed of a composite particle comprising a silicon compound coated on the surface of a metal particle, and that can be dispersed with relatively few aggregates. The present invention relates to a coated pigment comprising a composite particle containing a metal particle and one or two or more coating layers on the surface of the metal particle, wherein (1) at least one of the coating layers is a silicon compound-containing layer, and (2) the proportion of aggregates formed by adhesion of at least four of the composite particles with each other is not more than 35% by number.
Surface treating composition and method of use
A tire dressing is provided with a fine polymer-based reflective particles formed form of a blend of anisotropic particles of varying color that introduce an added reflective surface not present in ordinary tire dressings. The use of the fine polymer-based reflective particles enhance gloss, shine, and light reflectivity to the applied surface. The enhanced reflective surface effect is more noticeable during vehicle motion and the tire is rotating, as light is reflected from different reflective particles due to the changing angle of the particles caused by the rotation of the tire. The effects are more subtle than the typical effect of glitter due to the small particle size and the utilization of a mixtures of several types of polymer reflective particles that range from dark to bright and vary in color, and the presence of the high refractive index liquid silicone fluid that results in a brilliant radiant shine.
AN AQUEOUS COATING COMPOSITION
The present invention provides an aqueous coating composition comprising by dry weight based on total dry weight of the coating composition, from 2% to 16% a small-particle-size polymeric dispersion of (co)polymeric particles having an average particle size of from 30 to 90 nm, and from 25% to 70% of titanium dioxide particles; from 50% to 100% of the titanium dioxide particles are encapsulated by a polymer shell of (co)polymeric particles.
PRINTING SHEET AND METHOD FOR PRODUCING PRINTING SHEET
An object of the present invention is to provide a printing sheet having a coated layer for ink receiving on at least one surface of a substrate, in which the printing sheet has excellent printability and excellent antistatic performance, being less likely to cause paper jams or other troubles during printing, and has excellent properties such as water resistance and weather resistance, and a method for producing the same. The printing sheet includes a coated layer made by blending clay in a ratio of 35% by mass to 65% by mass and heavy calcium carbonate in a ratio of 5% by mass to 30% by mass in a continuous phase made of an acrylic polymer on one surface or both surfaces of a substrate, in which a volume average particle diameter of the heavy calcium carbonate is 0.05 m to 2.00 m.
AEROGEL COMPOSITION FOR BATTERY INSULATION SHEET, METHOD OF PREPARING THE SAME, BATTERY INSULATION SHEET FORMED USING THE SAME, AND MANUFACTURING METHOD THEREOF
An aerogel composition for a battery insulation sheet is provided. The aerogel composition comprising: a solvent; a fibrous support; an aerogel; and a functional material including a binder, a dispersant, or a combination thereof. With respect to a total solid content of the aerogel composition, the fibrous support is present in a content range of 5 wt % to 70 wt %, the aerogel is present in a content range of 10 wt % to 90 wt %, and the functional material is present in a content range of 0.5 wt % to 20 wt %.
