Fetal size monitoring system and method
A system for monitoring the fetal size of an expectant mother comprises an acoustic sensor for positioning over the belly of the expectant mother, the acoustic sensor configured to receive an acoustic signal generated by the fetal heartbeat and to generate a sensor output signal. A fetal size is determined from a sensor output signal strength. This system is based on the realization that certain acoustic signals generated by the fetal heart beat are strongly correlated with the fetus size.
Estimation of peripheral vascular resistance using a miniature piezoelectric sensor
A wearable assembly has a pulse plethysmography (PPG) sensor and a piezoelectric pressure sensor and is attachable to a patient's finger or other area corresponding to a peripheral vascular region, and further includes a signal processor configured to monitor blood flow dependent measurements and pressure measurements over time, comparing these measurements to determine properties of the vascular region, such as vascular resistance of a blood vessel, vascular radius of the blood vessel, vascular stiffness of the vascular region, blood pressure, and/or cardiac vascular power. The signal processor may apply a hysteresis comparison of the sensor outputs, e.g., using an elliptical model, and in some examples may apply an extended Kalman filter for optimizing output of the vascular region properties.
Walking motion assist device
A device for assisting a wearer in rotationally moving an ankle joint. A drive mechanism coaxially rotates with the ankle joint using a drive motor; a control device controls the drive motor. A storage stores a basic movement pattern and a corrected movement pattern that represent time-series changes in ankle joint angle in a gait cycled. A calculator obtains the corrected movement pattern by correcting the basic movement pattern based on input operation. The basic movement pattern is represented by a polygonal line or a Bézier curve, each of which includes a plurality of predetermined points serving as inflection points, or a combination of thereof. The calculator generates the corrected movement pattern corrected by adjusting positions of the plurality of predetermined points on the basic movement pattern, and, based on the corrected movement pattern, the control device controls driving provided by the drive motor.
System and method for determining stroke based on voice analysis
The present invention relates to a system and a method for determining a stroke based on a voice analysis. According to the present invention, voice data of subjects are collected to extract and analyze voice onset times to determine stroke patients based on voices. The system for determining a stroke generates and collects voice data from test subjects reading a predetermined word that includes a plosive sound. The system for determining a stroke extracts and calculates voice onset times from the voice data to calculate probability parameters for the voice onset times of each of a normal group and a stroke patient group. The system for determining a stroke uses a set of probability parameters to determine an integration section, and calculates probabilities of being in the normal group and the stroke patient group. The system for determining a stroke applies the calculated probabilities to the Bayes theorem to determine whether the subjects are stroke patients.
Graphically displaying evoked potentials
A method for graphically displaying evoked potentials is disclosed herein. The method transforms each of an averaged evoked potentials into a single vertical line, wherein a first amplitude range is represented by a first color, a second amplitude range is represented by a second color, a third amplitude range is represented by a third color and a fourth amplitude range is represented by a fourth color.
SYSTEMS AND METHODS FOR SEIZURE DETECTION BASED ON CHANGES IN ELECTROENCEPHALOGRAM (EEG) NON-LINEARITIES
A system of seizure detection including one or more processing circuits configured to receive an electroencephalogram (EEG) signal generated based on electrical brain activity of a patient and determine a plurality of metrics based on the EEG signal, the plurality of metrics indicating non-linear features of the EEG signal. The one or more processing circuit are configured to perform a preliminary analysis with one of the plurality of metrics, wherein the preliminary analysis indicates that the EEG signal indicates a candidate seizure or that the EEG signal is insignificant, perform a secondary analysis with one or more metrics of the plurality of metrics to determine whether the EEG signal indicates the candidate seizure or that the EEG signal is insignificant, and generate a seizure alert indicating that the EEG signal indicates the candidate seizure.
SYSTEM AND METHOD FOR DETECTING WRIST-DEVICE WEARING LOCATION
In one embodiment, an apparatus (12) that samples a signal obtained or derived from an accelerometer, filters the samples, accumulates the filtered samples, and determines which limb the apparatus is associated with based on a comparison of the filtered accumulated samples and a threshold set.
CATHETER SHAPE AND POSITION DETECTION USING FLEXIBLE MAGNETIC SENSOR
Methods, apparatus, and systems for medical procedures are disclosed herein for receiving an input of a plurality of measured coordinates of a respective plurality of position transducers of a probe inside a body of a subject, receiving a measured voltage measurement output by the probe, determining a cost function based on a model of known mechanical properties of the probe compared to the measured coordinates with respect to shapes that can be assumed by the probe in the body and further based on an expected voltage value compared to the measured voltage measurement, selecting a shape based on the cost function, generating corrected coordinates of the points along the probe based on the shape and displaying a representation of the probe using the corrected coordinates.
