Dynamic Automated Adjustment of Alarm Threshold Levels
In the present invention, a system and associated method is provided for monitoring vital parameters of a patient. The monitoring system includes sensors disposed on the patient and operably connected to a monitor. The parameters that are sensed by the sensors are transmitted to the monitor and compared with alarm thresholds stored within the monitor. The alarm thresholds stored within the monitor are modified by inputs supplied to the monitor regarding the particular condition(s) of the patient being monitored to provide more accurate alarm determinations for the patient. The dynamic adjustment of the alarm threshold during monitoring can be based on a set of proactive inputs to prevent and/or limit the occurrence of unnecessary or clinically irrelevant alarm conditions or a set of reactive inputs that follow immediately after an alarm event is detected, to enable medical personnel to appropriately respond to sensed alarm condition(s).
MULTIPLE WAVELENGTH SENSOR EMITTERS
A physiological sensor has light emitting sources, each activated by addressing at least one row and at least one column of an electrical grid. The light emitting sources are capable of transmitting light of multiple wavelengths and a detector is responsive to the transmitted light after attenuation by body tissue.
MONITOR DEVICE OF AN OSTOMY SYSTEM AND ASSOCIATED METHOD FOR OPERATING A MONITOR DEVICE
Disclosed is a method of operating a monitor device and an associated monitor device of an ostomy system including an ostomy appliance having an electrode assembly comprising a plurality of electrodes including a first electrode pair, the method comprising: obtaining one or more parameters including obtaining a first parameter of a first terminal pair connected to the first electrode pair of the electrode assembly; determining if one or more operability criteria are satisfied based on the one or more parameters including determining if the first parameter satisfies first operability criteria indicative of operability of the first electrode pair of the electrode assembly.
COMPUTERIZED DECISION SUPPORT TOOL AND MEDICAL DEVICE FOR SCRATCH DETECTION AND FLARE PREDICTION
Technology is disclosed for detecting scratch events and predicting flares of pruritus, utilizing motion data sensed from a wearable sensor. Detecting scratch may be done with a two-tier approach by first detecting a hand motion from motion sensed data and then classifying that hand motion as a scratch event using one or more computerized classification models. Embodiments may focus on detecting nighttime scratch by utilizing motion sensed data captured during a user's detected sleep opportunity. Additionally, historical scratch event data may be used to predict a user's itch and flare risk for a future time interval. Decision support tools in the form of computer applications or services may utilize the detected scratch events or predicted itch or flare risk to initiate an action for reducing current itch and/or mitigating future risk, including initiating a treatment protocol that includes therapeutic agent.
HIS-BUNDLE PACING FOR ATRIOVENTRICULAR BLOCK
Systems and methods for dynamically controlling His-bundle pacing (HBP) according to an indication of a rate-related or intermittent atrioventricular (AV) block in a subject are disclosed. An exemplary medical system includes an AV conduction monitor to detect an indication of either a presence or an absence of intermittent or rate-related AV conduction disturbance using physiologic information of the subject. In the event that an intermittent or rate-related AV conduction disturbance is present, a control circuit provides a control signal to an electrostimulation circuit to deliver HBP pulses. If there is no indication of intermittent or rate-related AV conduction disturbance, or a previously detected intermittent or rate-related AV conduction disturbance has been terminated, the control circuit withholds or discontinues delivery of the HBP pulses to promote intrinsic ventricular conduction and activation.
POSTURE DETECTION USING HEARING INSTRUMENTS
A processing system obtain signals that are generated by or generated based on sensors that are included in one or more hearing instruments. Additionally, the processing system determine, based on the signals, whether a posture of a user of the hearing instruments is a target posture. The processing system generate information based on the posture of the user.
MOTION MONITORING METHODS AND SYSTEMS
A motion monitoring method (500) is provided, which includes: obtaining a movement signal of a user during motion, wherein the movement signal includes at least an electromyographic signal or an attitude signal (510); and monitoring a movement of the user during motion based at least on feature information corresponding to the electromyographic signal or the feature information corresponding to the attitude signal (520).
Surgical instruments with sensors for detecting tissue properties, and system using such instruments
A system is provided that furnishes expert procedural guidance based upon patient-specific data gained from surgical instruments incorporating sensors on the instrument's working surface, one or more reference sensors placed about the patient, sensors implanted before, during or after the procedure, the patient's personal medical history, and patient status monitoring equipment. Embodiments include a system having a surgical instrument with a sensor for generating a signal indicative of a property of a subject tissue of the patient, which signal is converted into a current dataset and stored. A processor compares the current dataset with other previously stored datasets, and uses the comparison to assess a physical condition of the subject tissue and/or to guide a procedure being performed on the tissue.
Notifications on a user device based on activity detected by an activity monitoring device
Methods, systems and devices are provided for motion-activated display of messages on an activity monitoring device. In one embodiment, method for presenting a message on an activity monitoring device is provided, including the following method operations: downloading a plurality of messages to the device; detecting a stationary state of the device; detecting a movement of the device from the stationary state; in response to detecting the movement from the stationary state, selecting one of a plurality of messages, and displaying the selected message on the device.
Shoe-based analysis system
In one example, an apparatus. includes a shoe having a sole with at least a portion of foam replaced with a composite polymeric foam, at least one probe disposed in the composite polymeric foam, a voltage detector coupled to the probe that detects voltage data generated by the composite polymeric foam, and a transformation module that converts voltage data generated by the composite polymeric foam in response to deformation events into GRF, acceleration, or pressure data. In another example, a method includes receiving voltage data produced by composite polymeric foam, the composite polymeric foam providing support and padding in the sole of a shoe, converting the voltage data to force data, comparing the force data to a profile, and transmitting, when the force data fails to fall within a threshold of the profile, a feedback signal to a physical feedback device, the feedback signal indicating a difference with the profile.
