The invention relates to adhesive tape, especially for lengthwise jacketing of elongate items such as cable harnesses in a motor vehicle, comprising a carrier having a top side and a bottom side, where the carrier, based on the cross direction, has a width BT, and at least one layer of adhesive applied on the bottom side of the carrier, the adhesive layer bearing a second carrier, the first carrier with the adhesive layer protrudes at least on one long edge relative to a side edge of the second carrier, where the first protrusion has a width of B.sub.start, characterized in that the first carrier is a woven fabric or a nonwoven fabric and the second carrier is a metallic layer, and the first carrier has a basis weight of 50 g/m2 to 600 g/m2.
Epoxy patch having improved adhesion characteristics
A device comprising an adhesive material and a fiberglass mesh located in direct planar contact with the adhesive material. The adhesive material is tacky in its green state and includes an epoxy, an epoxidized cashew nut shell oil, and at least about 20% by weight of a component containing a core shell polymer material to improve the adhesion capability to surfaces that are contaminated and/or exposed to high pressure spraying or chemical treatments, heat and humidity.
BONDING SYSTEM
A water-based adhesive film-forming cover composition including: (i) at least one film forming polymer; (ii) at least one lower crystallinity first polynitroso compound; (iii) at least one higher crystallinity second polynitroso compound; (iv) at least one crosslinking agent; and (v) water as a carrier liquid; a bonding system including a combination of: (a) a water-based primer component; and (b) the above water-based cover component; a process for manufacturing the above bonding system; and a process of manufacturing bonded article with the above bonding system. A bonded article, having a bonding line made from the above bonding system disposed between metal and rubber substrates, exhibits excellent stability against an aqueous urea-solution at temperatures of up to about 95° C.

An adhesive composition for forming an adhesive layer to be in contact with a resin on a surface of a metal, including: a low molecular weight organic compound having two or more nitrogen atoms in one molecule; and at least one metal ion selected from the group consisting of a trivalent aluminum ion and a trivalent chromium ion, wherein the resin is a curable resin, and the adhesive composition is an aqueous solution having a pH of 12 or less and has a concentration of the low molecular weight organic compound of 0.01 to 150 g/L and a molar concentration of the at least one metal ion of 0.005 to 100 mmol/L. The adhesive composition can improve adhesion between surfaces of multiple metals and a resin.
POLYMER FILM WITH ADHESIVE LAYER, LAMINATE, AND METHOD FOR PRODUCING LAMINATE
An object of the present invention is to provide a polymer film with an adhesive layer, capable of forming a laminate in which a metal layer formed of a metal foil that is arranged on and compression-bonded to the adhesive layer is excellent in adhesiveness, and a portion other than the metal layer has a low dielectric loss tangent. Another object of the present invention is to provide a laminate obtained by using the polymer film with an adhesive layer; and a method for producing the laminate. A polymer film with an adhesive layer according to an embodiment of the present invention has a polymer film including a polymer having a standard dielectric loss tangent of 0.005 or less and the adhesive layer arranged on the polymer film, in which in a case where a surface of the polymer film on a side of the adhesive layer is measured by X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy, an atomic ratio of oxygen atoms to carbon atoms is 0.27 or more, the adhesive layer includes a compound having a reactive group, the adhesive layer has a thickness of 1 μm or less, and the adhesive layer has a post-curing elastic modulus of 0.8 GPa or more.
ADHESIVE TAPE PARTICULARLY FOR OILY SURFACES
The invention relates to an adhesive tape, comprising at least one layer of a first, heat-curable adhesive material and, on one of the surfaces of the heat-curable adhesive material layer, a layer of a second, pressure-sensitive adhesive material, characterized in that the second, pressure-sensitive adhesive material is based on one or more unvulcanized rubbers having a saturated carbon chain of the polymethylene type.
TAPES AND METHODS OF USE FOR MASKING ALUMINUM SURFACES IN ACID ANODIZATION
A tape includes: a flexible backing layer having two major surfaces, wherein the backing layer has a thickness of greater than 25 micrometers; and an acrylic-based pressure sensitive adhesive layer disposed on one major surface of the backing layer, wherein the acrylic-based pressure sensitive adhesive comprises the reaction of one or more (C8-C20)alkyl acrylates with one or more reinforcing monomers having a homopolymer Tg of at least 50° C., wherein the acrylic-based pressure sensitive adhesive has a tan δ of at least 0.5 measured at 80° C. and an oscillating frequency of 1 radian/second, and wherein the acrylic-based pressure sensitive adhesive layer has a thickness of at least 5 micrometers; wherein, when disposed on an aluminum substrate, the tape displays clean removal from the aluminum substrate according to the Clean Removal Test described in the Examples Section, and a leakage distance of less than 762 micrometers according to the Chromic Acid Anodization-Leakage Distance Test described in the Examples Section. A method of anodizing an aluminum surface includes: providing a substrate having an aluminum surface; applying a tape as described herein to mask the aluminum surface and form a masked substrate; and exposing the masked substrate to an electrolyte solution including chromic acid under conditions effective to form aluminum oxide.
Color changing adhesive bond primer
A thickness-detecting bond primer is disclosed. In various embodiments, the thickness-detecting bond primer includes a solvent configured for application to a metallic surface; and a dye dispersed within the solvent, the dye having a concentration within a range of about 0.001 weight percent to about 5.0 weight percent of the thickness-detecting bond primer.
POLYIMIDE FILM FOR METAL LAMINATION AND POLYIMIDE METAL LAMINATE USING SAME
The present invention discloses a polyimide film for metal lamination, which is obtained by providing at least one surface of a heat-resistant polyimide layer with a metal bonding layer. This polyimide film has a 5% weight loss temperature of 500° C. or higher in a nitrogen atmosphere, while having a dielectric loss tangent of 0.007 or less at a frequency of 11.4 GHz. It is preferable that the metal bonding layer is formed of a thermally fusible polyimide, or is formed of a heat-resistant polyimide and a silane coupling agent. The present invention also discloses a polyimide metal laminate which is obtained by additionally laminating a metal layer on a surface of the above-described polyimide film for metal lamination, said surface having been provided with the metal bonding layer.
