A wavelength converter includes: a plurality of phosphor particles; and a binder layer that adheres the plurality of adjacent phosphor particles to one another, the binder layer being composed of a nanoparticle-adhered body in which a plurality of nanoparticles having an average particle size D.sub.50 of 1 nm or more and less than 100 nm are adhered to one another.

LIGHT EMITTING DEVICE
A light emitting device includes: a solid-state light emitting element that emits excitation light having a maximum intensity value within a wavelength range of 440 nm or more and less than 470 nm; and a wavelength conversion member composed by combining a first wavelength converter, which includes a first phosphor activated by Ce.sup.3+, and a second wavelength converter, which includes a second phosphor activated by Ce.sup.3+, with each other. The first phosphor emits first fluorescence having a maximum intensity value within a wavelength range of 470 nm or more and less than 530 nm, and the second phosphor emits second fluorescence having a maximum intensity value within a wavelength range of 580 nm or more and less than 660 nm. The first wavelength converter has a dispersed state in which particles of the first phosphor are not in contact with one another.

Disclosed is a method for manufacturing crystals of aluminates of one or more element(s) other than aluminium, referred to as A. The method includes: placing starting reagents, including at least one aluminium element source and a source of the element(s) A that has a degree of oxidation of between 1 and 6, in suspension in a liquid medium, forming a suspension referred to as the starting suspension; milling the starting suspension at 50 C., in a three-dimensional liquid medium ball mill for 5 minutes; recovering, at the outlet of the three-dimensional ball mill, a suspension referred to as the end suspension including the starting reagents in activated form or crystals of aluminate of the element(s) A generally in hydrated form; if required, calcination of the end suspension when it includes the starting reagents in activated form, to obtain generally non-hydrated crystals of aluminate of the element(s) A.
Phosphor, method of producing same, and light-emitting device
A phosphor includes, as a main component, a compound represented by a general formula (3-a)YO.sub.3/2.aCeO.sub.3/2.(5-b)AlO.sub.3/2.bGaO.sub.3/2.cKO.sub.1/2.dPO.sub.5/2, where a, b, c and d satisfy 0.12a0.18, 1.50b3.00, 0.01c0.08, and 0.01d0.08.
Light-emitting device and display device
A light-emitting device includes a light-emitting element that emits blue light, a Mn.sup.2+-activated -AlON green phosphor, and a dispersing material in which the green phosphor is dispersed. The green phosphor has an in-crystal Mn concentration of 2.5 wt % or more. The shortest path of the blue light through the dispersing material is 1 mm long or shorter.
LIGHTING APPARATUS
A lighting apparatus includes light emitting elements having an emission peak wavelength of 400 to 510 nm, a first phosphor having an emission peak wavelength of 485 to 700 nm, a second phosphor having an emission peak wavelength of 510 to 590 nm, a third phosphor having an emission peak wavelength of 600 to 700 nm, and a color filter having transmittance for light with a wavelength of 600 to 730 nm that is 80% or more and transmittance for light with a wavelength of 410 to 480 nm that is 3% or more and 50% or less. The color filter transmits a part of light emitted from the first phosphor, at least a part of light emitted from the second phosphor, and at least a part of light emitted from the third phosphor. Light transmitted through the color filter is emitted to the outside.
