Compression of dental images and hybrid dental imaging system with local area and cloud networks

Methods and systems for storing and accessing dental images. The system includes an imaging system for acquiring x-ray projection frames. The imaging system is connected to a local server through a local area network. A cloud server communicates with devices on the local area. The x-ray projection frames are transmitted from the imaging system to the local server. The local server stores the series of related x-ray projection frames according to a specified policy. In one embodiment, the x-ray projection frames are compressed into a compressed image data set using a modified video compression prediction algorithm customized for x-ray images. The compressed image data is transmitted to the cloud server for storage. The x-ray image data can be accessed from the cloud server by external devices and by other local area networks.

A method including the steps of: providing a plurality of diagnostic programs associated with characteristics of developing dentition of a patient; performing an initial assessment of the patient corresponding to the developing dentition of the patient wherein the initial assessment uses an imaging device to locate points in a mouth of the patient wherein the imaging device generates imaging data; transferring the imaging data to a central processing unit wherein the central processing unit obtains measurements associated with selected points in the mouth of the patient and predicts future orthodontic conditions of the patient based upon the measurements; and providing a report of findings of the initial assessment to the patient with treatment recommendations based upon the findings.

Method for creating an image from a 3D volume
10521935 · 2019-12-31 · ·

The invention relates to a method for creating a virtual dental image from a 3D volume (1) comprising volumetric image data. Firstly, a sub-volume (8, 12, 15, 18) of the 3D volume (1) is defined and then a virtual projection image (30, 41) is generated for said sub-volume (8, 12, 15, 18) from a specific X-ray imaging direction (11) by computation of the volumetric image data in said X-ray imaging direction (11).

X-ray photographing apparatus and method

The present invention relates to an X-ray photographing apparatus and method capable of variously and finely adjusting a magnification power by sliding a rotating portion supporting an X-ray source portion and a sensor portion facing each other in a state in which an interval between the X-ray source portion and the sensor portion is maintained to change an interval between the sensor portion and a head of a subject to be examined. The X-ray photographing apparatus includes: a rotating portion including an X-ray source portion and a sensor portion facing each other and provided at a shaft through a moving means so as to be movable in an X-ray irradiation direction; and an actuating portion adjusting a magnification power by changing an interval between the sensor portion and a head of a subject to be examined in a state in which an interval between the X-ray source portion and the sensor portion is maintained.

Two-way mirror display for dental treatment system

Systems and methods utilizing a two-way mirror display for patient self-positioning for dental x-ray image acquisition. The system includes a camera configured to capture an image of a patient, a display, a two-way mirror positioned between a patient location and the display, and an electronic processor. The electronic processor is configured to select, based upon a user input, an operating mode for the display; and based upon the selected operating mode, displaying at least one image on the display. The method includes receiving image data from a camera, identifying at least one facial feature of the patient in the image data, determining if a face of the patient is aligned with at least one anatomical plane based upon the at least one facial feature, and displaying at least one movement guide on a display based upon the determined alignment of the face of the patient.
