Adducts of low molecular weight PIB with low polydispersity and high vinylidene content

A PIB derivative suitable for use as a fuel additive or lubricant additive prepared from a reactive low molecular weight polyisobutylene composition comprising at least 50 mol percent alpha vinylidene terminated polyisobutylene molecules, the composition having a polydispersity of no more than 1.5 and a number average molecular weight of at least 500 Daltons and no more than 1000 Daltons. The derivative is selected from the group consisting of: alkyl hydroxyaromatic compounds; alkyl alkoxy aromatic compounds; polyisobutenylsuccinic anhydrides; polyisobutenylsuccinimides; PIB-amine compounds; sulfurized PIB compounds; and Mannich condensation products of an alkylated hydroxyaromatic compound.

A release agent and method of use for preventing the adhesion of materials to equipment in various industries including construction, mining, and asphalt. The release agent can include oil, surfactant, and in increased level of free fatty acids that can combine with alkali and/or alkaline earth metals in the materials to form a metal/fatty acid salt that prevents adhesion and material build up.

LUBRICATING OIL COMPOSITIONS AND USE THEREOF FOR IMPROVING JOURNAL BEARING DURABILITY IN INTERNAL COMBUSTION ENGINES

This invention relates to a lubricating oil composition comprising or resulting from the admixing of: (i) a base oil; (ii) one or more overbased metal based detergents; and (3) a friction modifier comprising glycerol monooleate, glycerol dioleate, glycerol trioleate or combinations thereof at from 0.2 to 1.0 wt. % of the composition. The composition has a total sulfated ash of less than or equal to 1.0 wt. %, a high temperature high shear viscosity at 150 C. (HTHS) as determined according to ASTM D4683-20 of greater than or equal to 1.8 mPa.Math.s and less than or equal to 2.9 mPa.Math.s, and a total phosphorous level of less than or equal to 0.080 wt. %. The inventive composition provides a 10% to 80% decrease in journal bearing wear as measured by wear scar volume in m.sup.3 using the MTM-R test method compared to a lubricating oil composition of comparable HTHS, but not including a friction modifier comprising glycerol monooleate, glycerol dioleate, glycerol trioleate or combinations thereof. Also provided are a method of decreasing journal bearing wear in an internal combustion engine and a method of making the lubricating oil composition.
