Provided is a grease composition which can be used as a lubricant for roller bearings, exhibits excellent high temperature durability and rust preventive property, and can prevent premature flaking on the rolling surface due to hydrogen embrittlement. A roller bearing 1 is obtained by sealing a grease composition 7 in the periphery of a rolling element 4, this grease composition 7 is composed of a base oil excluding an ester-based synthetic oil, a thickener, and an additive, the additive contains (a) an alkanolamine and (b) 2,2,4-trimethyl-1,2-dihydroquinoline or a polymer thereof but does not contain an organic sulfonate, and (a) and (b) are contained at from 0.1 to 10 parts by weight with respect to 100 parts by weight of a total amount of the base oil and the thickener, respectively.

A lubricating composition suited to use in a marine diesel engine includes an oil of lubricating viscosity and an amino carboxylate compound of formula (I): NR.sup.1R.sup.2((CHR.sup.3).sub.xNR.sup.4).sub.n(CHR.sup.5).sub.2COY, where R.sup.1 and R.sup.2 are independently selected from (CHR.sup.6).sub.2COY, H, and C.sub.1C.sub.3 alkyl and wherein at least one of R.sup.1 and R.sup.2 is (CHR.sup.6).sub.2COY; or wherein NR.sup.1R.sup.2 is a cyclic structure; Y and Y are independently selected from OR.sup.7, NHR.sup.7, and N(R.sup.7).sub.2; each R.sup.7 is independently selected from C.sub.6-C.sub.12 alkyl and C.sub.6-C.sub.12 alkenyl; R.sup.3, R.sup.5 and R.sup.6 are independently selected from H and C.sub.1-C.sub.4 alkyl; R.sup.4 is selected from H, C.sub.1-C.sub.4 alkyl, and (CHR.sup.3).sub.xNH.sub.2; x is from 2 to 4; and n is at least 1, except where NR.sup.1R.sup.2 is a cyclic structure, where n is at least 0.

A lubricating composition suited to use in a marine diesel engine includes an oil of lubricating viscosity and an amino carboxylate compound of formula (I): NR.sup.1R.sup.2((CHR.sup.3).sub.xNR.sup.4).sub.n(CHR.sup.5).sub.2COY, where R.sup.1 and R.sup.2 are independently selected from (CHR.sup.6).sub.2COY, H, and C.sub.1C.sub.3 alkyl and wherein at least one of R.sup.1 and R.sup.2 is (CHR.sup.6).sub.2COY; or wherein NR.sup.1R.sup.2 is a cyclic structure; Y and Y are independently selected from OR.sup.7, NHR.sup.7, and N(R.sup.7).sub.2; each R.sup.7 is independently selected from C.sub.6-C.sub.12 alkyl and C.sub.6-C.sub.12 alkenyl; R.sup.3, R.sup.5 and R.sup.6 are independently selected from H and C.sub.1-C.sub.4 alkyl; R.sup.4 is selected from H, C.sub.1-C.sub.4 alkyl, and (CHR.sup.3).sub.xNH.sub.2; x is from 2 to 4; and n is at least 1, except where NR.sup.1R.sup.2 is a cyclic structure, where n is at least 0.
ALKANOLAMINE, FRICTION-REDUCING AGENT, AND LUBRICATING OIL COMPOSITION
To provide a friction-reducing agent containing no sulfur nor phosphorus and being excellent in friction-reducing properties, and a lubricating oil composition using it. An alkanolamine represented by the following formula is used as a friction-reducing agent:

wherein A.sub.1 and A.sub.2 are each independently a hydroxy group or a hydrogen atom, provided that A.sub.1 and A.sub.2 are not hydrogen atoms at the same time, R.sub.1 is a hydrocarbon group having at most 30 carbon atoms, R.sub.2 to R.sub.6 are each independently a hydrogen atom or a hydrocarbon group having at most 30 carbon atoms, and m and n are each independently an integer of from 0 to 10.
ALKANOLAMINE, FRICTION-REDUCING AGENT, AND LUBRICATING OIL COMPOSITION
To provide a friction-reducing agent containing no sulfur nor phosphorus and being excellent in friction-reducing properties, and a lubricating oil composition using it. An alkanolamine represented by the following formula is used as a friction-reducing agent:

Composition containing heterocyclic compounds and a method of lubricating an internal combustion engine
The present invention relates to a lubricating composition containing (a) an oil of lubricating viscosity; and (b) a compound selected from the group consisting of: (i) an ester-containing heterocycle; (ii) an amide-containing heterocycle; and (iii) a pyrimidine, wherein the ester-containing heterocycle and the amide-containing heterocycle have a hydrocarbyl group containing 6 to 40 carbon atoms. The invention further provides for a method of supplying an internal combustion engine with the lubricating composition.
Composition containing heterocyclic compounds and a method of lubricating an internal combustion engine
The present invention relates to a lubricating composition containing (a) an oil of lubricating viscosity; and (b) a compound selected from the group consisting of: (i) an ester-containing heterocycle; (ii) an amide-containing heterocycle; and (iii) a pyrimidine, wherein the ester-containing heterocycle and the amide-containing heterocycle have a hydrocarbyl group containing 6 to 40 carbon atoms. The invention further provides for a method of supplying an internal combustion engine with the lubricating composition.
