Low viscosity low volatility lubricating oil base stocks and methods of use thereof
A composition including one or more diester compounds represented by the formula as defined herein. The composition has a viscosity (Kv.sub.100) from about 1 cSt to about 10 cSt at 100 C. as determined by ASTM D445, a viscosity index (VI) from about 100 to about 300 as determined by ASTM D2270, and a Noack volatility of no greater than 50 percent as determined by ASTM D5800. A process for producing the composition, a lubricating oil base stock and lubricating oil containing the composition, and a method for improving one or more of thermal and oxidative stability, solubility and dispersancy of polar additives, deposit control and traction control in a lubricating oil by using as the lubricating oil a formulated oil containing the composition.
Lubricant compositions
Lubricant composition formulations comprising at least one biodegradable plastic, such as polyhydroxyalkanoate and/or polybutylene succinate, and at least one lubricant, such as a vegetable oil.
Low viscosity low volatility lubricating oil base stocks and methods of use thereof
A lubricating oil base stock including one or more monoesters represented by the formula (I), (II), (III) and (IV) as defined herein. The lubricating oil base stock has a high temperature high shear (HTHS) viscosity of less than about 1.7 cP as determined by ASTM D4683, and a Noack volatility from about 15 to about 90 percent as determined by ASTM D5800. A lubricating oil containing the lubricating oil base stock including one or more monoesters represented by the formula (I), (II), (III) and (IV) as defined herein. A method for improving one or more of thermal and oxidative stability, solubility and dispersancy of polar additives, deposit control and traction control in a lubricating oil by using as the lubricating oil a formulated oil containing the lubricating oil base stock including one or more monoesters represented by the formula (I), (II), (III) and (IV) as defined herein.
LUBRICANT BASE OIL
A lubricant base oil may contain at least one ester compound (A) selected from a diester (A1) having 24 or more carbon atoms and a triester (A2) having 24 or more carbon atoms and at least one base oil (B) selected from a mineral oil (B1) and a synthetic oil (B2) other than an ester synthetic oil. A lubricating oil composition may contain such a lubricant base oil.
LUBRICANT COMPOSITIONS
Lubricant composition formulations comprising at least one biodegradable plastic, such as polyhydroxyalkanoate and/or polybutylene succinate, and at least one lubricant, such as a vegetable oil.

LUBRICANT COMPOSITION CONTAINING AN IONIC LIQUID
A lubricant composition, including 20 to 99.5 wt. %, based on a total weight of the lubricant composition, of a base oil, the base oil having a solubility for ionic liquid methyltrioctylammonium-bis(fluorosulfonyl)imide of at least 3 wt. % at a room temperature of 20 C. The base oil contains a base stock A in a proportion of at least 50 wt. %, based on a total weight of the base oil, the base stock A having a solubility for the ionic liquid methyltrioctylammonium-bis(fluorosulfonyl)imide of at least 3 wt. % at a room temperature of 20 C. The lubricant composition further includes 0.5 to 80% wt. %, based on the total weight of the lubricant composition, of an ionic liquid whose anion is bis(fluorosulfonyl)imide.
