FILTERING DEVICE FOR FILTERING A FLUID AND PROCESS FOR FILTERING A FLUID
The present invention refers to a filtering device for filtering a fluid containing dissolved solutions and optionally colloidal substances, including solvents and solutes, comprising a first filter unit (12) serving to remove substances in a first filtering step by way of a membrane filtration, said removed substances having a molecular weight above a defined limit value, a second filter unit (19), disposed downstream of the first filter unit (12), for the treatment of the permeate of the first filter unit (12), wherein the second filter unit (19) comprises a filter bed comprising at least one filter material of the group comprising graphene, modified graphene, graphite, activated carbon and a zeolite compound, and a third filter unit (20), disposed downstream of the second filter unit (19), for the treatment of the permeate of the second filter unit (19), wherein the third filter unit (20) comprises a porous membrane, through which the liquid to be filtered flows in a cross-flow. The present invention provides a device with the possibility of filtration with high working pressure, avoiding possible clogging inside the adsorbing material and easy regeneration and reactivation of the adsorbing material.
Beer manufacturing device and method for manufacturing beer by using same
The present invention relates to a beer manufacturing device configured such that it is possible to directly produce and sell beer, the yeast of which is alive, on the spot without any expertise, and it is possible to easily manufacture various kinds of beer automatically at a low cost through a single session without a concern that the same will be contaminated by contact with the outside. A beer manufacturing device according to an embodiment of the present invention may comprise: a chamber; a coupler fixedly installed in the chamber, the coupler comprising a wort channel and a gas channel; a channel portion connecting the wort channel and the gas channel of the coupler; a sterilizing/washing cap coupled to the coupler such that the channel portion becomes a closed channel; a sterilizing/washing filter container connected to the channel portion, sterilizing/washing water being stored in the sterilizing/washing filter; a pump connected to the channel portion; and a control portion for controlling the operation of the pump such that the sterilizing/washing water stored in the sterilizing/washing filter container circulates through the channel portion that has become a closed channel.
Acid-treated filter aid blend
A filter aid composition may include a first acid-treated silica-based filter aid having a first particle size distribution and a second acid-treated silica-based filter aid having a second particle size distribution. A method of making a filter aid composition may include providing a first silica-based filter aid having a first particle size distribution, providing a second silica-based filter aid having a second particle size distribution, and blending the first silica-based filter aid with the second silica-based filter aid to form the filter aid composition. A method of filtering a fluid may include providing a filter aid composition including a first acid-treated silica-based filter aid and a second acid-treated silica-based filter aid and filtering the fluid through the filter aid composition. The filter aid composition may have a multimodal particle size distribution such that the first particle size distribution has a d50 greater than the second particle size distribution.
Feedstock Solution Flow Concentration System
A feedstock solution flow concentration system, which has a first step for counterflowing or parallel flowing a feedstock solution flow a containing a solute and a solvent b, and a draw solution flow d via a forward osmosis membrane o and transferring the solvent b in the feedstock solution flow a to the draw solution flow d to obtain a concentrated feedstock solution flow c, which is the feedstock solution flow which has been concentrated, and a diluted draw solution flow e, which is the draw solution flow which has been diluted.
System and method for producing beer/hard cider concentrate
A system and method are provided to produce a beverage concentrate such as a beer extract. A forward osmosis (FO) filtration technique removes pure water from a conventional brewed beer; accordingly, the beer extract can be produced without distillation or other alteration steps that may negatively impact of flavor and aroma components of the beer. A draw solution is used to provide a differential osmotic pressure through a FO filtration device. The diluted draw solution is recycled by reverse osmosis, distillation, and combinations thereof.
SYSTEM AND METHOD FOR FILTERING BEVERAGES
A method for preparing a filtered beverage includes filtering a raw beverage using a cross-flow ultrafiltration device to produce a solids fraction and a liquid fraction; heating the solids fraction to a temperature of 60° C. or greater to produce a pasteurized solids fraction; microfiltering the liquid fraction through a microfilter having a size cut-off of 1 μm or smaller to produce a microfiltered liquid fraction; and combining the pasteurized solids fraction and the microfiltered liquid fraction to result in the filtered beverage.
Methods of making modified alcohol containing products
Certain embodiments of the invention provide a method of preparing a modified distilled alcoholic spirit, comprising contacting a corresponding starting distilled alcoholic spirit with a base under conditions that cause at least one free carbonyl compound in the starting distilled alcoholic spirit to be reduced, to provide the modified distilled alcoholic spirit that has at an alcohol by volume (ABV) of at least 15%. Certain embodiments also provide a modified distilled alcoholic spirit prepared by the methods described herein.
METHOD OF PREPARING REGENERATED SPENT FERMENTED BEVERAGE MEDIA FOR RE-USE IN STABILIZATION AND FILTRATION OF FERMENTED BEVERAGES
This disclosure includes regenerated inorganic fermented beverage stabilization and/or clarification media and a process for such regeneration. Inorganic stabilization and clarification media (for processing beer or the like) may include expanded perlite or other expanded natural glasses, diatomaceous earth, silica gel or other precipitated silicas and compositions that incorporate these materials. Such media may be regenerated individually, together in a mixture or together as part of a composite product. The regenerated media meet the requirements for physical and chemical properties for re-use and replacement of the majority of particulate inorganic filtration media and inorganic stabilization media consumed in stabilization and clarification processes, and the related regeneration process provides for substantial benefits to brewers through a reduction of costs to purchase and transport stabilization and clarification media, to dispose of spent cake and/or membrane retentate, while providing for substantial reductions in the introduction of soluble impurities into the fermented beverage.
