A method of sampling and testing for SARS-COV-2 virus in nasal and nasopharyngeal fluid using a plurality of microfluidic channels with a plurality of integrated electrodes in the microfluidic channels to detect the virus. In one example embodiment, a plurality of antibodies are fixed on a surface of at least one electrode by positive dielectrophoresis that increases the sensitivity of detection. Viral antigens bind to the antibodies separating from the fluid thereby signally that the virus is present as evidenced by the detection of the antigens. Sampling by microfluidic channels is more comfortable to a patient because microfluidic channels are soft, flexible and narrow compared to swabs. Another example embodiment of a method using microfluidic channels for collecting tears or saliva to determine blood glucose levels using a smartphone that has been modified to incorporate external filters quantitate glucose levels is also described.

METHOD AND TOOL SET FOR COLLECTING BODY FLUID OF A PERSON TO BE EXAMINED

A method for collecting a body fluid sample of a person to be examined is provided. The method comprises steps of: providing a body fluid sample collecting device and a body fluid sample inspection device for collecting the body fluid sample according to a test sampling requirement, wherein the body fluid sample collecting device includes a body fluid sample collecting region having an open hydrophilic layer with a specific layer area, and configured for collecting a predetermined amount of the body fluid sample; from a body surface of the person to be examined, causing the body fluid sample to be collected onto the body fluid sample collecting region until the body fluid sample covers the hydrophilic layer completely; and receiving the body fluid sample from the body fluid collecting region to be inspected in the body fluid sample inspection device.

Biosensor and application of the same

The present invention provides a biosensor and an application of the same. The biosensor includes a substrate, a first polymer layer and a second polymer layer. The first polymer layer includes composite antibodies, each of which includes a first antibody and a labelling molecule. The second polymer layer has an inverse opal photonic crystal structure where gold nanoparticles and second antibodies are distributed. At least one of the composite antibodies, an antigen and at least one of the second antibodies forms a complex in the second polymer layer, and an antigen concentration is obtained by a fluorescence intensity, a degree of red-shift or a change in a visual color of the biosensor.

A sampler for acquiring and transporting sample material may include a sampler body defining a sampling volume configured to hold the sample material. The sampler body may define a sample port that may be used as an entrance to collect the sample material and an exit to expel the sample material. The sample port may be configured to be operably connected to a fluidic channel of a cartridge. The sampler may also define a pump connection port configured to be operably connected to a pump. The pump may force the sample material out of the sampling volume through the sample port.

Collection device and material

Swabs, materials, and methods of making same, include randomly arranged sea-island bicomponent fibers. According to certain embodiments, swabs and methods of using such swabs are provided so as to collect and release a biological sample comprising a flock fiber tipped applicator wherein the flock fibers are sea-island bicomponent fibers attached to an end portion of the applicator with an adhesive selected from the group consisting of a photocurable acrylic adhesive and a polyurethane adhesive, the bicomponent fibers being structurally stable in water and the sea component of the bicomponent flock fibers being intact.

Collection device and material

Swabs, materials and methods of making the same include randomly arranged sea-island bicomponent fibers which have randomly splayed terminal ends. According to certain embodiments, swabs are provide which include an applicator, and sea-island bicomponent fibers attached to the applicator, wherein at least about 70% of the fibers comprise randomly splayed terminal ends of the islands of said bicomponent fibers along a length of about 45% or less from said ends, and wherein the bicomponent fibers comprise 10-3000 island parts per fiber.
