DEVICES, SYSTEMS, AND METHODS FOR SELF-COLLECTION OF BIOLOGICAL SAMPLES
A universal single-handed device for self-collection of a biological sample is described herein. The single-handed device may comprise a sheath comprising a distal end for insertion into a portion of a user's body, a shaft at least partially within the sheath, having a collection head for collecting the biological sample positioned at the distal end thereof, and an actuator coupled to the shaft to transition the distal end between an open configuration and a closed configuration. The collection head is covered by the distal end in the closed configuration and is exposed when the distal end is in the open configuration.
SEXUAL ASSAULT EVIDENCE COLLECTION KIT USABLE BY A VICTIM
A sexual assault evidence collection kit that may be used by the victim or other non-professionals. The kit may be simplified compared to kits for professional use, and may be usable with no specialized training. Victims may therefore be able to collect evidence themselves after an assault, instead of searching for a facility with personnel trained in forensic evidence collection, and enduring a long, intrusive examination. Embodiments may include a package (for example a clear bag) and the following components inside the package: gloves, swabs, swab containers, water, evidence collection bags, evidence bag sealing tape, evidence collection tape, a permanent marker, and instructions on how to identify, collect, seal, document, and store evidence.
Personal hygiene device for detecting a fluid
A personal hygiene device may have a main body with an absorbent material configured to absorb a fluid, a sensor disposed within the main body, and a controller configured to communicate with the sensor. The sensor has a conductor and an insulator containing at least a portion of the conductor, and the sensor is configured to detect a first electrical value and a second electrical value that is different from the first electrical value. The sensor is also configured to transmit a signal to the controller upon detection of the second electrical value.
Analytical Toilet with Access Panel
An analytical toilet is disclosed having at least one health and wellness sensor and a base supporting a bowl. A removable access panel is removably attached to the base. A space is provided between the base and the toilet, which is adapted to contain the at least one health and wellness sensor.
Device for collecting, preserving and storing eukaryotic cells contained in a sample of biological fluid for further cell analysis
A device for collecting, preserving and storing a sample of biological fluid comprising a porous medium for collecting and maintaining the membrane integrity of the eukaryotic cells contained in the sample, and their constituents is disclosed, the medium comprising at least 80% by weight of artificial components, advantageously at least 85%, preferably at least 90% of a total weight of the medium; and having a mean flow pore size (MFP) of at least 3 μm.
BIOPSY DEVICE
Apparatuses and methods for biopsying body vessels having small lumen, such as Fallopian tubes. In particular, described herein are apparatuses (e.g., systems and devices) and methods that include an outer member having a stepped distal end region, a flexible inner shaft, and a biopsy collector, and methods of using them.
Method and System for Sample Collection, Storage, Preparation and Detection
A collection device for a biological sample to capture target compounds such as viruses or other pathogens or particles for testing from within the sample and move the captured target compound to a separate chamber for subsequent processing. The collection device can include an openable substance blister including capture particles located in a cup interior. Capture particles can attract and bind the target compounds from the sample. An extraction tube extracts any nucleic acid from the target compound for storage or subsequent amplification and testing to confirm presence of known microorganisms. The extraction tube can comprise a heat-deformable material and can be connected to a microfluidic cartridge for further processing of nucleic acid including, amplification and detection. The microfluidic cartridge includes valves and a plurality of chambers for amplification.
ABSORPTIVE TIP BRUSH BIOPSY DEVICE, KIT AND METHOD
A flexible coaxial tissue sampling device, comprising: a sheath; a displaceable wire within the sheath having a first end extending from a proximal end of the sheath and second end which extends, in a first state, from a distal end of the sheath, and in a second state, retracts into the distal end of the sheath; the second end of the displaceable wire comprising a cellular sampling structure and a porous absorptive material which are external to the sheath in the first state and internal in the second state. A tension on the first end of the displaceable wire at the proximal end of the sheath retracts the displaceable wire from the first state to the second state, along with the cellular sampling structure and the porous absorptive material. The porous absorptive material retains a fluid sample after retraction and protects against contact of the sample with other tissues.
Massage device for pressure wave massage
A massage device for massaging by means of pressure waves includes a housing having a handle segment and a massage segment and at least one chamber comprising an opening leading outward in the massage segment. The chamber includes an end wall segment, a first circumferential wall segment, and a second circumferential wall segment, the first circumferential wall segment being disposed between the end wall segment and the second circumferential wall segment, and the second circumferential wall segment defining the opening with the end wall segment being at least partially displaceable. The massage device further includes a drive device for inducing a predetermined vibration in the end wall segment, with the first circumferential wall segment being substantially rigid and the second circumferential wall segment being substantially flexible.
SEX TOY ADAPTED TO COLLECT BODY FLUID AND/OR CELLS FOR DIAGNOSTIC TESTING
A sex toy collects a body fluid and/or cells as present in a genital, especially in a female vagina, for a diagnostic test, especially an in-vitro diagnostic test and/or a biomarker test. The sex toy includes a housing having at least one sampling port leading into at least one sampling channel for collecting a sample of body fluid and/or cells through the sampling port and the sampling channel inside the housing. The sex toy includes a test module adapted for analyzing and/or screening and/or monitoring diagnostic parameters of a collected sample body fluid and/or cells with medical implications as well as general health and lifestyle parameters. The test module includes comprising at least a first analyzing unit for carrying out a diagnostic test.
