Surgical system
A surgical system includes an overtube, a sheathing tube, a syringe, a tube, an inner needle, and a storage case that has individual storage parts for individually storing the overtube, the sheathing tube, the syringe, the tube, and the inner needle, respectively. The storage case fixes a first instrument, which is any one of the overtube, the sheathing tube, the syringe, the tube, or the inner needle, to the individual storage part corresponding to the first instrument by using at least one of second instruments which are other instruments stored in the individual storage parts.
Minimally invasive intervertebral rod insertion
A system and method for the minimally invasive insertion of an intervertebral rod into the vertebrae of a subject, according to a preoperative surgical plan also defining positions for the insertion of rod clamping screws into the vertebrae. The rod shape for connecting the heads of the screws is calculated, and a path planning algorithm used to determine whether the distal end of the rod can be threaded through the screw heads by longitudinal and rotational manipulation of the proximal end of the rod. If so, instructions are provided for forming that rod shape and for the robotic insertion of the screw holes and the rod. If not, either or both of the screw positions and the rod shape are adjusted, to moderate the bends in the rods, until insertion becomes possible. The insertion can be performed robotically, or, if a navigation tracking system is added, manually.
Tissue resecting device with deflectable tip
A tissue resecting device includes a housing having an outer shaft extending therefrom, the outer shaft including a tool portion disposed at a distal end thereof, the tool portion having a window defined therein. A rotatable inner shaft is disposed within the outer shaft and includes a cutting member disposed at the distal end thereof in concentric alignment with the tool portion and configured to rotate concomitantly with the inner shaft. The cutting member includes a series of slots defined therein configured to facilitate articulation of the cutting member and a blade disposed at a distal end thereof configured to cut tissue upon rotational engagement therewith. An actuator is configured to articulate the tool portion and the cutting member upon actuation thereof between a neutral position wherein the blade is aligned for radial cutting and articulated positions wherein the blade is aligned for varying degrees of axially-aligned cutting.
Systems and Methods Configured to Insert an Implant in an Abdominal Wall Cavity
An implantation system and methods of inserting an implant are disclosed. The method includes the step of making an incision in an abdominal wall with an instrument positioned within an abdominal cavity. The method further includes the steps of forming a pocket between a first surface of the abdominal wall and a second surface of the abdominal wall, such that the incision defines an opening into the pocket, inserting an implant through the opening and into the pocket, and closing the opening such that the implant is captured within the pocket.
Tissue shavers
Various arthroscopic shavers are provided that minimize contact between bodily fluid and the shaver hand piece. Arthroscopic shavers generally include a cutting assembly mated to a hand piece. In one embodiment, the shaver includes a hub that connects the cutting assembly with the hand piece and has an exit port configured to transport cut tissue and fluid from the device. In another embodiment, the shaver includes a hub configured to retrofit existing shaver hand pieces having interior lumens for removing cut tissue and fluid. The hub further includes an exit port that diverts fluid away from the hand piece.
ROBOTIC UTERINE MANIPULATORS WITH ROLLABLE SLEEVES
A uterine manipulator includes an elongated shaft, a colpotomy cup supported on the elongated shaft, a distal shaft extending distally from the colpotomy cup to a distal tip, and a rollable sleeve supported on the distal tip.
KITS FOR MINIMALLY INVASIVE PERCUTANEOUS NEPHROLITHOTOMY (PCNL) AND SIALENDOSCOPY
A kit comprising a first single-use portion releasably coupled with a reusable portion for use in a first stage of a PCNL medical procedure to penetrate to a patient's kidney and/or ureter and view on an electronic display the work area and a guidewire passed through the first single-use portion, and a second single-use portion releasable coupled with said reusable portion for use in a second stage of a PCNL medical procedure, after the first single-use portion has been withdrawn from the patient, to view on the electronic display the work area and surgical tools treating the area during and after completion of treatment. Another kit comprises a single-use device for sialendoscopy.
ARTICULATING TOOL FOR ENDOSCOPIC PLACEMENT OF FASTENERS
Various articulating tools for endoscopic placement of fasteners are disclosed. The tool can comprise a multi-angle articulating screwdriver. The tool can have an elongate shaft with an articulating driver head at a distal end. The tool can rotate the articulating driver head to drive fasteners, such as screws, to a surgical site. The articulating driver head can articulate with respect to a longitudinal axis of the elongate shaft to enable the fastener to be driven at various angle. The tool can be coupled to a powered handpiece power and can transmit torque from the handpiece to the driver head.
Cannula
There is provided a cannula that suppresses leakage of vitreous humor, etc., from a slit through which a surgical tool is inserted. A cannula (10) used for piercing through an eyeball during an ophthalmic operation, includes: a pipe (11); a cylindrical base (12) fitted together with the circumference of a base end of the pipe (11); a resin cap (13) including a cover surface (13c) covering the surface of the base end of the pipe (11) and a side surface (13a) covering a cylindrical side surface of the base (12); and a slit (13d) passing through the center of the cover surface (13c). The outer diameter of the cylindrical side surface of the base (12) at a position where the cylindrical side surface of the base (12) touches the side surface (13a) of the cap is larger than the inner diameter of the side surface of the cap.
Medical device holding and delivery assembly and kit therefor
A medical device holding assembly includes a carrier sheath, which carries an endoluminal medical device such as an embolization coil. The assembly also includes a housing including at least one holding element to hold the sheath, and a fixation device attached to the housing and coupled to the sheath. The fixation device includes a locking element having an unlocked configuration, which allows the sheath to slide relative to the housing, and a locked configuration, which fixes the sheath to the housing. A lock actuator is configured to lock permanently the locking element into the locked configuration. As a result, the sheath with the medical device held therewithin cannot be removed from the holding assembly during the deployment procedure, thereby ensuring that the procedure can be carried out by a single person and also protecting the integrity of the medical device before it is deployed into a patient.
