Apparatus And Method Of Connection Of Attachments To A Holder
Disclosed is an instrument assembly usable in a procedure. The instrument includes a connection for a working portion and to a tool handle. The assembly includes a method and system for interconnection and/or identification of the working portion and the handle. The instrument may also include various trackable features to allow for a navigated procedure.
Battery-powered hand-held ultrasonic surgical cautery cutting device
A battery-powered, modular surgical device comprising an electrically powered surgical instrument that requires a pre-determined minimum amount of electrical energy to complete a surgical procedure, and a power module assembly that has a battery that powers the surgical instrument and has a current state of electrical charge, and a control circuit that is electrically coupled to the battery and the surgical instrument and has a memory and a microprocessor. The microprocessor determines the current state of electrical charge of the battery, compares the current state of electrical charge to the pre-determined minimum amount of electrical energy, permits the battery to discharge if the current state of electrical charge is above the pre-determined minimum amount of electrical energy, and maintains the battery in a non-discharge state if the current state of electrical charge is below the pre-determined minimum amount of electrical energy.
Abdominal instrument and method
A surgical instrument (100) for placement of a movement restriction device (10) for use in a surgical procedure for treating reflux disease in a patient. The instrument comprises a sleeve (113) and a holding device (111) configured to engage the movement restriction device, wherein the holding device is configured to be placed within the sleeve and be displaceable in relation to the sleeve. The instrument further comprises a first handling portion (101) connected to the sleeve, and a second handling portion (102) connected to the holding device. The handling of at least one of the first and second handling portion creates relative displacement of the holding device in relation to the sleeve, which disengages the holding device from the movement restriction device for performing the placement of the movement restriction device.
Laparoscopic grasper with force-limiting grasping mechanism
A surgical instrument is provided having an actuator mechanism with an integrated extension element. The surgical instrument comprises a handle assembly, an elongate shaft, and an end effector. The end effector comprises a jaw assembly having atraumatic pads to reduce force on grasped tissue. An actuator is movable within the elongate shaft to actuate jaws of the jaw assembly responsive to a movable handle of the handle assembly. The actuator can have an integrated extension element that allows the actuator to translate within the elongate shaft upon application of a relatively low force and translate and extend upon application of a relatively higher force to the actuator to limit the force applied by the jaw assembly. The actuator also utilizes forces stored with the integrated extension element to provide a dynamic amount of force used to grasp the tissue when the tissue volume decreases while in the jaws.
CRYOPROBE FOR MINIMALLY INVASIVE CARDIAC ABLATION WITH A FUNCTIONAL TIP
A cryoprobe for minimally invasive cardiac ablation with a functional tip (2) according to the invention comprises a handle (5) and a first tip (1), having a cooling system for destroying tissues by freezing them, and at least one functional tip (2). Wherein the functional tip (2) is movable relative to the first tip (1), and it has at its end (4) at least a temperature measuring system (6) for the tissues being destroyed by the first tip (1). The first tip (1) is in turn mounted in a handle (5) provided with at least one button (3) for controlling the functional tip (2). Both the first tip (1) and at least one functional tip (2) have a part susceptible to a plastic change in shape. The cryoprobe according to the invention is characterised in that at least one functional tip (2) has a central part susceptible to a plastic change in shape, and a rigid part at its end, and the first tip (1) has a part susceptible to a plastic change in shape at its end, and the remaining part of the first tip (1) is rigid.
The invention also comprises a method for controlling the cryoprobe.
ATHERECTOMY SYSTEM WITH ANTEROGRADE AND RETROGRADE ABLATION
An atherectomy system includes an advancer assembly and a drive assembly that is adapted to translate relative to the advancer assembly. A control knob extends from the drive assembly such that translating the control knob results in the drive assembly translating relative to the advancer assembly. A drive shaft is operably coupled with the drive assembly, the drive shaft translating relative to the advancer assembly as the drive assembly translates relative to the advancer assembly. A feedback modifier is operably coupled between the drive assembly and the advancer assembly and is adapted to provide a user of the atherectomy system with similar feedback via the control knob regardless of whether the user is moving the drive assembly in an anterograde ablation direction or a retrograde ablation direction.
Surgical instrument with mechanically operable lever
A surgical instrument includes a handle with a main body having a central axis, a lever pivotable around a pivot axis fixed with respect to the main body. The lever includes a finger abutment section including a lower finger rest contacting the ventral sides of a user's first and second fingers during pivoting movement of the finger abutment section towards the central axis, and an upper finger rest contacting the dorsal sides of both the fingers during pivoting movement of the finger abutment section away from the central axis; and a septum fixed to lower and upper finger rests and extending therebetween forming a separate first and second finger receiving portion for respectively receiving a first and a second fingers. The lever pivots around the pivot axis such that during pivoting of the lever, the septum central plane remains substantially coplanar with a plane parallel to the central axis.
COLPOTOMY CUP ASSEMBLY
A medical device for performing a hysterectomy is provided. The medical device has a tissue incision assembly that includes a first cup nested within a second cup. The tissue incision assembly also includes a spacer assembly between the first cup and the second cup in order to maintain a spacing between the first and second cups. The tissue incision assembly also has a cutting implement that has a portion extending between, and movable with respect to, the first and second cups. The cutting implement can provide a circular cut guided via the spacing between the first and second cups.
Reposable multi-fire surgical clip applier
A reposable surgical clip applier including a clip cartridge assembly releasably engagable within a shaft assembly of the surgical clip applier.
APPARATUS AND METHOD FOR SEALING A VASCULAR PUNCTURE
A closure system for delivering a sealant to an arteriotomy. A distal section of the closure system can include overlapping inner and outer sleeves that can expand with expansion of the sealant. A proximal section of the closure system can include a handle portion and a sheath adapter extending from the handle portion. The handle portion can comprise one or more actuators that when depressed or engaged can assist in deployment of the sealant in the arteriotomy and can further include tamping of the sealant and/or retraction of an expandable member. The sheath adapter can removably engage a side port or an irrigation line of a standard procedural sheath. When the sheath adapter is secured to the procedural sheath, movement of the closure system can also move the procedural sheath.
