Surgical stapler with reversible polarity

A method for resetting a stapling apparatus includes providing an apparatus with a cam member in a fired position. A circuit of the apparatus is then changed from a first polarity state to a second polarity state. A motor of the apparatus is then activated to rotate the cam member from a fired position back to a home position while the circuit is in the second polarity state.

Surgical stapling and cutting device

A medical device includes a laparoscopic shaft having proximal and distal ends and defining a shaft axis. A surgical end effector is at the distal end of the shaft. A surgical procedure actuator carries out a surgical procedure on tissue at the end effector when actuated. A rotating knob is at the proximal end of the shaft. The rotating knob rotates the end effector with respect to the shaft about the shaft axis when rotated and actuates the procedure actuator when slid in a proximal direction.

Adjustable heart valve implant

Systems and methods are provided for repairing a heart valve, such as a mitral, tricuspid or aortic valve, using an adjustable and removable implant that can be delivered to the heart through the apex in a simplified and non-invasive manner. The implant can include a prosthetic valve portion coupled to a proximal end of a shaft, and an anchor portion coupled to a distal end of the shaft. The prosthetic valve can be suspended within an opening of the heart valve while the anchor portion is affixed to the apex of the heart. When the implant is deployed, a distance between the prosthetic valve portion and the anchor portion can be adjusted, and/or the implant or a portion thereof can be rotated to thereby change the position of the prosthetic valve within the heart valve. This can allow correcting for post-implantation movements of the implant to mitigate potential complications.

Surgical instrument with single drive input for two end effector mechanisms

Methods for treating tissue, and surgical assemblies and related methods are disclosed in which a single input is used to sequentially articulate two members. A medical device includes an input link movable through an input link range of motion, a jaw coupled with the input link, and a tissue manipulation member coupled to the input link and positioned to manipulate a tissue gripped by the jaw. The input link range of motion includes a first portion and a second portion. The input link within the first portion of the input link range of motion drives the jaw through a jaw range of motion. The input link within the second portion of the input link range of motion drives the tissue manipulation member through a tissue manipulation member range of motion.

Multipurpose handle

A multipurpose handle incorporated into a medical device delivery system. The multipurpose handle includes an elongate handle body, an actuation button, and a locking member. The elongate handle body has a proximal end extending to a distal end, which defines a longitudinal axis. The elongate body further includes a cutout that creates a movement space therein in which the actuation button is disposed and is connected to a medical device. The actuation button is movable within the cutout along the longitudinal axis and rotatable within the cutout. The locking member is connected to the elongate handle body and movable between a locked position and unlocked position. The locking member may be in contact with the actuation button and be configured to restrict the movement of the actuation button along the longitudinal axis when in the locked position.

Handheld electromechanical surgical system

A surgical device includes a handle assembly having: a power source, a motor coupled to the power source, and a controller configured to control the motor. The device also includes an adapter assembly configured to selectively couple to the handle assembly. The adapter assembly includes a clamping transmission assembly movable by the motor. The device also includes a reload configured to selectively couple to a distal portion of the adapter assembly, the reload including a plurality of staples ejectable from the reload. The device further includes an anvil assembly selectively couplable to the distal portion of the adapter assembly and movable relative to the reload. The controller is further configured to control the motor to move the clamping transmission assembly to move the anvil assembly from a distal clamp position to a proximal clamp position and then distally from the proximal clamp position to reduce clamp force.

ADJUSTMENT OF A SURGICAL DEVICE FUNCTION BASED ON SITUATIONAL AWARENESS

Surgical devices and surgical systems are disclosed. The surgical device can comprise an actuator and a control circuit configured to adjust one or more functions of the surgical device based on a signal from a situationally-aware surgical hub. A surgical system can comprise a screen and a control circuit configured to communicate a priority level of a recommendation to the clinician on the display.

Control system with removable sterilizable button

The present invention concerns a control system (1) for a micro-motor for dental or surgical use comprising a control box (10) provided with an adjustment knob (2), mounted in a way rotatable about a rotational axis (A-A). The adjustment knob (2) is made up of a control support (20) integral with an encoder (3) integrated in the said box (10), and a sterilizable button (21) coupled in a removable way to the said control support (20).
