Swivel knuckle connection
A swivel knuckle assembly for interconnecting a motor and a supply line. The knuckle assembly may include a bearing member to reduce a coefficient of friction. A locking mechanism is disclosed to connect members of the knuckle assembly.
Rotary valve
A rotary valve includes a rotor housing having a first centrally-located aperture extending axially through the rotor housing, an inlet port, and an outlet port. The inlet port and the outlet port each extend radially and open into the first centrally-located aperture. The rotary valve further includes a rotor to be disposed within the first centrally-located aperture. The rotor includes a main body and a dwell space extending radially inwardly into the main body and circumferentially around a portion of the main body. The rotor further includes a second centrally-located aperture that extends axially through a distal end of the rotor and into the dwell space within the main body.
SURGICAL INSTRUMENT
A surgical instrument (1) is provided with a rigid probe (2), and cuts off the trabecular meshwork by inserting this probe (2) into the canal of Schlemm. An inner tube portion having a cutter is equipped inside the probe, and the trabecular meshwork sucked in from a hole portion (22) is cut off by the cutter due to the movement of the inner tube portion. A protection portion (21) is formed on the tip the probe (2) and protects the outer wall of the canal of Schlemm when cutting the trabecular meshwork. According to the invention, an ophthalmic surgical instrument for glaucoma patients is provided, the surgical instrument having excellent operability and preventing cutting of parts that should not be cut off without fail.
DEVICES AND METHODS FOR INTRABODY SURGERY
A method for conducting intrabody surgery by means of a surgical device having a cutting arrangement actuated by a driveshaft and rotationally supported by the guide wire. A receiving cannel extends through the cutting arrangement and movably receives the guidewire. A plurality of sensors is provided within the cutting arrangement to emit signals capable of changing parameters depending on the composition of the occlusion, so as to allow the control unit to generate signals controlling operation of the cutting arrangement. The method includes the steps of detecting parameters within the intrabody area by the sensors to controlling operation of the cutting arrangement with the power and control unit.
Medical device
A medical device is provided. The medical device includes a puncture needle that is inserted into body tissue from outside a body and pierces membranous tissue near pulsating tissue inside the body tissue; a tubular protection member that is disposed on the outer side of the puncture needle; a pulse-information acquisition portion that acquires pulse information of the pulsating tissue; and a driving unit that moves the puncture needle and the protection member relative to each other in synchronization with the pulse information of the pulsating tissue acquired by the pulse-information acquisition portion, in such a manner that a tip of the puncture needle is retracted toward a proximal end from a distal end of the protection member when the pulsating tissue expands and that the tip of the puncture needle is projected farther forward from the distal end of the protection member when the pulsating tissue contracts.
NEW AND IMPROVED VITRECTOR AND METHOD FOR PERFORMING A ONE-STEP POSTERIOR VITRECTOMY USING THE SAME
A vitrector for removing material from an eye includes a hand piece, a shaft coupled at a first end to a first end of the hand piece, the shaft having a sharp second end opposite the first end of the shaft, and a cutting device positioned within the shaft and configured for removing the material from the eye. The sharp second end of the shaft is configured for piercing a pars plana of the eye and a sclera of the eye. A method for removing material from an eye includes forming a single opening through a pars plana of the eye and a sclera of the eye using a sharp point of a shaft of a vitrector, cutting the material using a cutting device incorporated within the shaft, and removing the material from the eye using the vitrector.
Swivel Knuckle Connection
A swivel knuckle assembly for interconnecting a motor and a supply line. The knuckle assembly may include a bearing member to reduce a coefficient of friction. A locking mechanism is disclosed to connect members of the knuckle assembly.
SURGICAL INSTRUMENT COMPRISING A REPLACEABLE CARTRIDGE JAW
A surgical instrument system comprising a completely replaceable cartridge jaw is disclosed.
Methods for the prevention of surgical site infections
Several methods to reduce surgical site infections include inserting a surgical access device into an incision, retracting tissue, and introducing fluid into the surgical access device such that the fluid exits the surgical access device and irrigates a surgical site. Other methods do not include introducing fluid into a surgical access device but include suctioning a fluid into the surgical access device and removing the fluid from the body.
Device for cutting suture from a distance
The present disclosure provides a cutting assembly for cutting an object, such as a suture, within the body of a patient. The cutting assembly includes a housing, a proximal cutting element, a distal cutting element, and an actuating member. Both the proximal and distal cutting elements have a cutting surface or blade. The blades face each other within the housing and actuate towards each other to cut the suture. The housing further includes a plurality of slots that house the blades and maintain them in the orientation desired for cutting. The housing further includes openings to guide the suture through the cutting assembly. The cutting assembly provides sufficient flexibility to be oriented at the suture location, but maintains its rigidity to effectuate a sufficient, clean cut.
