Provided are an end tool of a surgical instrument and a method of manufacturing the same, and more particularly, an end tool of a surgical instrument that may be manually operated to be used in laparoscopic surgery or other various surgery and a method of manufacturing the end tool, wherein a load applied to a pin (rotary shaft) and the pulley is appropriately distributed such that the pulley may be sufficiently rotated and at the same time, an overall durability may be improved.

Methods for controlling temperature in ultrasonic device

A generator, ultrasonic device, and method for controlling a temperature of an ultrasonic blade are disclosed. A control circuit coupled to a memory determines an actual resonant frequency of an ultrasonic electromechanical system comprising an ultrasonic transducer coupled to an ultrasonic blade by an ultrasonic waveguide. The actual resonant frequency is correlated to an actual temperature of the ultrasonic blade. The control circuit retrieves from the memory a reference resonant frequency of the ultrasonic electromechanical system. The reference resonant frequency is correlated to a reference temperature of the ultrasonic blade. The control circuit then infers the temperature of the ultrasonic blade based on the difference between the actual resonant frequency and the reference resonant frequency. The control circuit controls the temperature of the ultrasonic blade based on the inferred temperature

Surgical instrument including a locking assembly
09820737 · 2017-11-21 · ·

A surgical instrument including a handle portion, a body portion, an articulating tool assembly and a locking assembly is disclosed. The handle portion includes a movable handle. The body portion extends distally from the handle portion and defines a first longitudinal axis. The articulating tool assembly defines a second longitudinal axis and is movable from a first position where the second longitudinal axis is substantially aligned with the first longitudinal axis to at least a second position where the second longitudinal axis is at an angle to the first longitudinal axis. The locking assembly includes a member that is advanceable distally with respect to the body portion. The member engages the articulating tool assembly upon manipulation of the movable handle to move an anvil and a cartridge assembly in approximation with one another to help maintain the articulating tool assembly in its first position.

Surgical instrument with ultrasonic transducer having integral switches

An ultrasonic surgical device comprises a handle assembly, a shaft assembly, and a removable transducer module. The transducer module includes a waveguide, a locking mechanism, and an electronics assembly including at least one button. The handle assembly includes a trigger assembly configured to actuate the button(s) of the electronics assembly when the transducer module is coupled with the handle assembly. The shaft assembly engages the waveguide of the transducer module and is disposed at the distal end of the handle assembly. The distal end of the shaft assembly includes a harmonic blade. When assembled with the handle assembly, the transducer module is capable of providing ultrasonic energy to the harmonic blade.

FLOW-DIVERTING IMPLANT AND DELIVERY METHOD
20220039804 · 2022-02-10 · ·

A flow-diverting implant includes a saddle-shaped braided mesh diverter that is sized to provide adequate blocking coverage of a neck of an aneurysm. The diverter is anchored using minimally profiled, generally circular anchors that present little to no resistance to blood flow and are unlikely to create thrombosis. A locator extends into the aneurysm to ensure the diverter is optimally positioned over the neck of the aneurysm.

Devices, systems, and methods for treating vascular defects are disclosed herein. One aspect of the present technology, for example, includes an occlusive device comprising an expandable mesh including an outer mesh and an inner mesh disposed within the outer mesh when the mesh is in an expanded, unconstrained state. The mesh may include a connection portion positioned at or within an inner cavity of the inner mesh and configured to be detachably coupled to a delivery member. The inner cavity may be configured to receive a distal portion of an elongated shaft and contain the distal portion while one or more coils is delivered through the elongated shaft into the inner cavity.

Medical implants

The current invention is directed to a medical implant made of bulk-solidifying amorphous alloys and methods of making such medical implants, wherein the medical implants are biologically, mechanically, and morphologically compatible with the surrounding implanted region of the body.

Probe insertion device for implanting a probe into tissue

A probe insertion device for implanting a probe into tissue includes a rigid base that selectively attaches to the probe due to a bond between the base and the probe, that provides a structural backbone to the probe, is longitudinally aligned with the probe, and can be adapted to receive a fluid between the base and the probe. The probe insertion device can include a surface covering at least a portion of the base that reduces the bond between the base and the probe in the presence of the fluid.

Medical device with a structured coating

A medical device includes a tubular body having a distal end and a proximal end, a lumen extending through the tubular body from the distal end to the proximal end, a wire extending through the lumen from the distal end to the proximal end, and a polymeric coating. The wire has an outer surface. The polymeric coating is on at least a portion of the outer surface of the wire. The coating comprises a bulk material and a plurality of flexible microstructures disposed on the bulk material. The microstructures extend outwardly from a surface of the polymeric coating.
