Instrument deployed tissue protector
A surgical device includes a guiding instrument; a protector comprised of a protective material held in a non-protecting state by the guiding instrument and having a protection state; and an actuator connected to the protector that is configured to advance the protector along the guiding instrument such that the protector is allowed to assume the protection state.
SURGICAL RETRACTION DEVICE
A surgical appliance includes a pair of opposed prongs slideably disposed on an elongated locking track for retracting neurovascular and musculotendinous anatomical structures through an incision for affording access to deeper structures for inserting osteosynthesis hardware in the surgical treatment of a distal radius fracture or other surgical procedure. The prongs extend from retractors that traverse the locking track for opposed linear movement while recessed in a surgical working region accessible through an incision. The prongs terminate in curvatures defining a void that gather and engage the elongated anatomical structures on top of the skeletal members receiving the plate. The prongs draw back the tendons, blood vessels and nerve structures to allow unimpeded surgical access for manipulating and attaching skeletal and soft tissue members and/or appliances. The device retracts anatomical structures along a linear track for a fixed locking engagement maintaining a surgical gap without direct manual assistance.
MODULAR SINGLE-USE KITS AND METHODS FOR PREPARATION OF BIOLOGICAL MATERIAL
Disclosed herein are standardized and optimized, modular single-use kits and methods for sterile or non-sterile preparation of biological material, such as cells or tissue, for immediate use, further preparation, or storage. These single-use kits and methods facilitate and improve a healthcare practitioner's ability to prepare biological material for research, diagnostic and therapeutic purposes in a convenient, consistent, repeatable, safe and effective manner.
WOUND VISUALIZATION FORCEPS AND METHOD
Devices and methods to stabilize an eye and suture with wound visibility are shown. In selected examples, a forceps is shown that includes one or more transparent projections. In use, the one or more transparent projections can be concurrently pressed against the wound while holding an eye stable with gripping surfaces of the forceps. The one or more transparent projections and the gipping of the forceps work together to aid in a suture placement.
Sterile Screen Protector
A sterile screen protector includes a frame that may be removably coupled to a touch screen in a surgical environment. A sheet is coupled to the frame. The sheet covers the touch screen when the frame is coupled to the touch screen. Thus, a sterilized user may manipulate the touch screen without comprising sterility of the sterilized user. An adhesive layer is coupled to the frame. The adhesive layer adhesively engages the touch screen thereby facilitating the frame to be removably retained on the touch screen.
Patient reference tool
A patient reference device is provided for use during a medical procedure. The patient reference device includes a housing having a back side and a front side, at least three tracking markers attached to the front side of the housing, the housing extending around the at least three tracking markers and beyond a horizontal plane defined by tops of the at least three tracking markers, the housing terminating at a substantially continuous edge, and a sterile cover attached to the substantially continuous edge of the housing for covering the housing and the tracking markers.
Locking Plate System for Treatment of Fracture of Distal Radius
Provided is a locking plate system for treatment of a distal radius fracture, including a locking plate (4) that is a flat laminate of intermediate molding materials that includes carbon fibers as a reinforcing material and thermoplastic resin as a matrix; a screw anchor (5) having a shaft portion (10) which has a principal thread (13) achieving a self-tapping action formed thereon and an outer circumference of a head portion of the screw anchor (5) which has an auxiliary thread (13) achieving a self-tapping action tapped thereon; and a through-hole (6) in the radius locking plate (4), which allows the radius main body (3) and the fractured bone piece (2) to be threadably fixed to the radius locking plate (4) and having a diameter that is oversized relative to the principal thread (11), and that is undersized relative to the auxiliary thread (13).
Punctal plug inserter tool including a penetration-resisting bearing surface and method
A surgical tool for inserting a spile or plug into the punctal opening of a meatus such as a lacrimo-nasal canaliculus. The tool includes a distal end having a plug-carrying structure which includes distally extending rod for engaging an axial bore in the plug, and an abutment having a radial prominence supporting a penetration-resisting bearing surface which prevents over-insertion of the plug by contacting tissue surrounding the punctal opening. The abutment can be shaped and dimensioned to provide effective and comfortable penetration resistance while affording ample visibility to the surgeon user. The rod can be axially withdrawn through a rod tracking tube having a precisely dimensioned central lumen restricting off-axis movement of the rod. The abutment can be fixed to the rod or detached from it.
Hemostatic device
A hemostatic device is disclosed, which capable of favorably maintaining strength of an inflatable portion and reducing a pressing force acting on a site where bleeding is to be stopped over time to such an extent that vascular occlusion can be prevented without operation by a doctor or a nurse. The hemostatic device includes a band for wrapping around a wrist, a fastener or means for securing the band to the wrist in a wrapped state, and an inflatable portion connected to the band and inflated by being injected with a gas, in which the inflatable portion includes a resin layer made of a resin material, a particulate portion dispersed in the resin layer, and a space portion formed around the particulate portion. The space portion contains gas dispersed in the resin layer so as not to communicate between an inner surface and an outer surface of the resin layer.
Surgical C-section drape with tunnel
Disclosed is a surgical drape configured to selectively allow or block a patient's view of a surgical field, as is desired particularly in Caesarean section operations. Generally, the surgical drape includes a mainsheet and a screen connected to the mainsheet. The mainsheet is equipped with a surgical fenestration and the screen is equipped with a screen fenestration and a flexible tunnel material forming a tunnel between a surgeon-facing side of the screen and a patient-facing side of the screen. The drape is equipped with at least one flap that covers the screen fenestration during the surgical procedure. Upon birth, the infant is passed through the tunnel to greet the mother, and a flap is then closed to cover the screen fenestration.
