A process for removal of aluminium and iron in the recycling of rechargeable batteries comprising providing a leachate from black mass, adding phosphoric acid (H.sub.3PO.sub.4) to said leachate and adjusting the pH to form iron phosphate (FePO.sub.4) and aluminium phosphate (AlPO.sub.4), precipitating and removing the formed FePO.sub.4 and AlPO.sub.4, and forming a filtrate for further recovery of cathode metals, mainly NMC-metals and lithium.

Method for producing metal microparticles

Provided is a method for producing metal microparticles in which the ratio of crystallite diameter to the particle diameter of the metal microparticles is controlled. At least two types of fluid to be processed are used, including a metal fluid in which a metal or a metal compound is dissolved in a solvent, and a reducing agent fluid which includes a reducing agent. Sulfate ions are included in one or both of the metal fluid and the reducing agent fluid. The fluid to be processed is mixed in a thin film fluid formed between at least two processing surfaces, at least one of which rotates relative to the other, and which are disposed facing each other and capable of approaching and separating from each other, and metal microparticles are precipitated. The present invention is characterized in that at this time, the ratio (d/D) of the crystallite diameter (d) of the metal microparticles to the particle diameter (D) of the metal microparticles is controlled by controlling the molar ratio of metal and sulfate ions in the mixed fluid to be processed.

Methods and processes for flame-assisted direct recycling and upcycling of spent cathode materials

Systems and methods for direct recycling and upcycling of spent cathode materials using Flame-Assisted Spray Pyrolysis Technology (FAST). In illustrative embodiments, cathode layers are separated and collected from spent battery cells. The cathode laminate is ground to a powdered form and treated to remove contaminants by sifting into a hot stream of air which heats the powders, burning off contaminants. After cooling and particle collection, the powders may be dispersed into leaching solution to dissolve metal oxides and create an acid metal solution or ground into nano-sized primary particles and mixed with dispersing liquids to form a solution. The solution may be mixed with glycerol and additional metal salts to create a final precursor solution, which may undergo spray pyrolysis followed by drying and calcination to create cathode materials with high consistency and repeatability, or mixed with an alkaline metal salt solution and undergo electrodeposition to recover desired metal salts.

Method for inhibiting extractant degradation of DSX process through metal extraction control

Provided is a method for inhibiting extractant degradation in the DSX process through the metal extraction control, the method comprising steps of: (a) adding limestone to a copper solvent extraction-raffinate to precipitate iron (Fe) and aluminum (Al) as a slurry, recovering a clarifying liquid; and (b) adding sulfuric acid to the recovered clarifying liquid to adjust the pH thereof.

Hydrometallurgical process for nickel oxide ore

Provided is a hydrometallurgical process of recovering Ni from nickel oxide ore using a high pressure acid leaching, in which abrasion of the facilities caused by an ore slurry is suppressed, the amount of a final neutralized residue is reduced, and impurity components are separated and recovered for recycling. The hydrometallurgical process includes, as steps of the high pressure acid leaching, at least one step selected from step (A): separating and recovering chromite particles in the ore slurry; step (B-1): through leaching step and a solid-liquid separation step, performing neutralization of a leachate obtained after the solid-liquid separation step using a Mg-based alkali such as Mg(OH).sub.2; and step (B-2): through leaching step and a solid-liquid separation step, performing neutralization of a leachate obtained after the solid-liquid separation step using a Mg-based alkali such as Mg(OH).sub.2, and then recovering hematite particles.

A nickel recovery process capable of decreasing nickel remaining in a byproduct by recovering nickel from the byproduct of electrolytic nickel manufacturing process by chlorine-leaching, and also, capable of simplifying a cementation step simultaneously, is provided. In a nickel recovery step S60, a nickel recovery step S70 and a nickel recovery step S80, nickel is recovered in each step from S.sup.0 slurry, residue flaker and chlorine-leached residue, which are byproducts of electrolytic nickel manufacturing process by chlorine-leaching, by using an aqueous solution containing 80 g/L to 390 g/L of chlorine and 30 g/L to 70 g/L of copper.

This valuable metal extraction agent is represented by the general formula. In the formula, R.sup.1 and R.sup.2 are alkyl groups that may be the same or different, R.sup.3 is a hydrogen atom or an alkyl group, and R.sup.4 is a hydrogen atom or any group, other than an amino group, bonded to an α carbon atom of an amino acid. The general formula preferably has a glycine unit, a histidine unit, a lysine unit, an aspartic acid unit or a n-methylglycine unit. When extracting nickel by using this extraction agent, it is preferable to adjust the pH of the acidic solution to 2.3 to 5.5 inclusive.
