20200078536 · 2020-03-12 · ·

A photo-resist (21) is applied in a pattern or vertical columns having the dimensions of holes or pores of the aperture plate to be produced. This mask pattern provides the apertures which define the aerosol particle size, having up to 2500 holes per square mm. There is electro-deposition of metal (22) into the spaces around the columns (21). There is further application of a second photo-resist mask (25) of much larger (wider and taller) columns, encompassing the area of a number of first columns (21). The hole diameter in the second plating layer is chosen according to a desired flow rate.

Fabrication of nanomotors and applications thereof

A method for decontamination of a toxic substance is disclosed. The method includes fabricating a plurality of nanomotors, and putting the plurality of nanomotors in contact with a contaminant solution comprising the toxic substance. Fabricating the plurality of nanomotors includes preparing a mesoporous silica template, forming the plurality of nanomotors within the mesoporous silica template, and separating the plurality of nanomotors from the mesoporous silica template. The mesoporous silica template includes a plurality of channels, where each channel of the plurality of channels have a diameter less than about 50 nm and a length of less than about 100 nm, and each nanomotor of the plurality of nanomotors is formed within a channel of the plurality of channels. Putting the plurality of nanomotors in contact with the contaminant solution includes adding hydrogen peroxide (H.sub.2O.sub.2) and the plurality of nanomotors to the contaminant solution.

METHOD OF PLATING A METALLIC SUBSTRATE TO ACHIEVE A DESIRED SURFACE COARSENESS
20190316268 · 2019-10-17 ·

A method of plating a metallic substrate to achieve a desired surface coarseness includes: plating a metallic substrate with a source metal using a plating solution containing the source metal to produce a plated layer; and during said plating, varying at least one of multiple plating parameters to achieve a value of a coarseness metric of a surface of the plated layer above a minimum predetermined target value of the coarseness metric. Determining a value of a coarseness metric of a plated layer on a metallic substrate includes obtaining a magnified image of a surface of a plated layer recorded by a magnification device; identifying a path across the magnified image that crosses a plurality of pixels; and determining a contrast among the plurality of pixels.

Catalyst for hydrogen peroxide decomposition, process for producing the same, and method for decomposing hydrogen peroxide using the catalyst

The present invention provides a catalyst for hydrogen peroxide decomposition with which hydrogen peroxide present in acid-containing water to be treated can be efficiently decomposed at low cost and which is less apt to dissolve away in the water being treated, can be stably used over a long period, and renders acid recovery and recycling possible. The present invention has solved the problems with a catalyst for hydrogen peroxide decomposition which is for use in decomposing hydrogen peroxide present in acid-containing water to be treated, the catalyst including a base and, a catalyst layer that is amorphous, includes a platinum-group metal having catalytic function and a Group-6 element metal having catalytic function and is formed over the base.

Provided in the present invention are a flexible electrochemical electrode, a subcutaneous continuous glucose monitoring sensor equipped with the electrochemical electrode, and a preparation method thereof. The electrode directly uses gold layers on both sides of a chemically plated film, respectively as a working electrode and a reference-counter electrode, so as to form an electrochemical two-electrode system. Petaloid platinum nanoparticles are electrodeposited on a surface of the configured working electrode as a catalytic layer; a carbon nanotube/Nafion mesh layer functions as an anti-interference layer, and is formed thereon with an enzyme biochemical sensitive layer by means of electrostatic adsorption, after crosslinking and curing in glutaraldehyde, polyurethane mass transfer is coated to limit a protection layer, so as to prepare a flexible continuous glucose monitoring sensor. The sensor does not require photolithography, screen printing or other technologies to construct an electrochemical electrode system. The present invention effectively simplifies the processing technology, can easily achieve large-scale production and reduce production costs; and meanwhile, the present invention has characteristics such as a wide linear range, low detection limit, powerful anti-interference capacity, high response sensitivity and long-term stability.
