A reformer of the present disclosure includes a reformer body which has a cylindrical shape and extends horizontally, introducing raw fuel and water to perform a reforming reaction, the reformer body including therein a vaporization portion which generates steam, and a reforming portion which reacts the steam generated in the vaporization portion with raw fuel to generate a reformed gas; a raw fuel introduction pipe which introduces the raw fuel into the reformer body; a water introduction pipe including therein a water passage which introduces water into the reformer body; and a vaporization accelerating portion which is disposed in at least one of the vaporization portion and the water introduction pipe and accelerates vaporization of water in the vaporization portion.

A plant and process for producing a hydrogen rich gas are provided, said process comprising the steps of: reforming a hydrocarbon feed in an autothermal reformer thereby obtaining a syngas; shifting said syngas in a shift configuration including a high temperature shift step; removal of CO.sub.2 in a CO.sub.2-removal section by amine wash thereby forming a hydrogen rich stream, a portion of which is used as low carbon hydrogen fuel, as well as a CO.sub.2-rich gas and a high-pressure flash gas stream. The high-pressure flash gas stream is advantageously integrated into the plant and process for further improving carbon capture.

The fuel cell system includes: a fuel cell module including a plurality of unit cells for generating electrical energy by using oxygen of air and hydrogen of a reformed fuel gas; a first module including a burner part which burns an unreacted fuel gas and air discharged from the fuel cell module, an air-heating part which heats air through heat exchange with a hot combustion gas and a flame generated by the burner part and supplies the heated air to the fuel cell module, and a water vapor generation part which converts water, flowing through an inner portion thereof, into water vapor through heat exchange with a hot combustion gas generated by the burner part; and a second module which mixes a fuel supplied from an external fuel supply source and water vapor supplied from a water-vapor generator part.

An improved power generation system and methods of its operation are provided, wherein the system combines: (i) a wave reformer, (ii) an optional second wave rotor, and (iii) a gas turbine in a flexible range of novel designs. Such a hybrid power generation system can thermally crack or decompose hydrocarbon fuel to produce a high-pressure fuel product, including mainly hydrogen and lead to a higher thermal efficiency than existing engines with low to no direct emission footprint.

A bio-renewable conversion process for making fuel from bio-renewable feedstocks is combined with a hydrogen production process that includes recovery of CO.sub.2. The integrated process uses a purge gas stream comprising hydrogen from the bio-renewable hydrocarbon production process in the hydrogen production process.

A method is provided for inputting thermal energy into fluidic medium in a steel manufacturing process by at least one rotary apparatus comprising: a casing with at least one inlet and at least one exit, a rotor comprising at least one row of rotor blades arranged over a circumference of a rotor hub mounted onto a rotor shaft, and a stator configured as an assembly of stationary vanes arranged at least upstream of the at least one row of rotor blades. In the method, an amount of thermal energy is imparted to a stream of fluidic medium directed along a flow path formed inside the casing between the inlet and the exit by virtue of a series of energy transformations occurring when said stream of fluidic medium passes through the stationary vanes and the at least one row of rotor blades, respectively. The method further comprises: integration of said at least one rotary apparatus into a steel production facility configured to carry out steel production processes, such as reacting iron oxide and carbon or production of raw materials, at temperatures essentially equal to or exceeding 500 degrees Celsius (° C.), and conducting an amount of input energy into the at least one rotary apparatus integrated into the heat-consuming process facility, the input energy comprises electrical energy. In one embodiment, a hydrogen rich torch reactor is provided for defining a reaction zone proximate to torch flame. One input of the reactor receives input material to be processed. Further inputs may be provided, such as for example to introduce steam and/or gases such as methane, oxygen, hydrogen, or the like.

A process for the production of hydrogen comprises: a first steam reforming step of a feedstock containing hydrocarbons to obtain a first synthesis gas; a first synthesis gas shift and cooling step on the first synthesis gas; a separation step for separating the first synthesis gas into a high concentration hydrogen stream and a tail gas stream; a second low pressure steam reforming step performed on the tail gas to obtain a second synthesis gas; a second synthesis gas shift and cooling step on the second synthesis gas; a CO2 removal step performed on the stream of hydrogen and carbon dioxide exiting the second synthesis gas shift and cooling step in order to separate a CO2 stream from a fuel grade hydrogen stream; a step of feeding at least a part of the fuel grade hydrogen stream to the first steam reforming step.
