Systems and Methods of Separating and Isolating Water and Other Desired Constituents from Oilfield Produced Brines for Reuse
An integrated, membrane-based process to produce purified water and conversion of salt to high value chemicals from oil and gas well produced water is described. A liquid stream including water and dissolved salt is flowed through pretreatment units and one or more desalination and concentration units which remove at least a portion of the water to form a brine enriched in dissolved salt. The purified high-density brine may be subjected to electrically-enforced salt dissociation techniques to produce chemicals from oil and gas produced water.
Electrolysis apparatus and water treatment method
Provided is an electrolysis apparatus with which the liquid that is to be treated can be continuously electrolyzed with high efficiency under high-temperature and high-pressure conditions. The electrolysis apparatus includes a cylindrical container main body including an inner peripheral surface serving as a cathode surface, an anode plate disposed in the container main body along an axis thereof, and end members attached to the respective ends of the container main body with nuts interposed therebetween, respectively. The end members are provided with nozzles, respectively, through which the liquid is passed. The end member is provided with a power supply rod connected to the anode plate which is inserted in the end member. Bipolar electrode plates are disposed in the container main body so as to be parallel to the anode plate. Insulators support the sides of the anode plate and the sides of the bipolar electrode plates.
Devices for urea electrolysis and methods of using same
The present disclosure provides devices and methods of using same for cleansing a solution (e.g., a salt solution) of urea via electrooxidation, and more specifically to cleansing a renal therapy solution/dialysis solution of urea via electrooxidation so that the renal therapy solution/dialysis solution can be used or reused for treatment of a patient. In an embodiment, a device for the removal of urea from a fluid having urea to produce a cleansed fluid includes a urea decomposition unit and an electrodialysis unit.
COMPOSITE MATERIAL FOR WATER TREATMENT
A composite material for use in water treatment. The composite material includes a porous matrix including a resin capable of retaining a catalyst and magnetic material therein, and includes a density regulating portion disposed therein. The catalyst is capable of facilitating a chemical reaction involving a contaminants in the water. The magnetic material and density regulating portion can be used to separate the composite material from treated water. Systems and methods of use involving passive water treatment, continuous water treatment, solar light exposure, UV light exposure, and electrochemical cells, employing photochemical, electrochemical, and photoelectrochemical reactions are described. Methods of manufacture are described.
SYSTEM AND METHOD OF WATER PURIFICATION UTILIZING AN IONOMER MEMBRANE
A water purification system utilizes an ionomer membrane and mild vacuum to draw water from source water through the membrane. A water source may be salt water or a contaminated water source. The water drawn through the membrane passes across the condenser chamber to a condenser surface where it is condensed into purified water. The condenser surface may be metal or any other suitable surface and may be flat or pleated. In addition, the condenser surface may be maintained at a lower temperature than the water on the water source side of the membrane. The ionomer membrane may be configured in a cartridge, a pleated or flat plate configuration. A latent heat loop may be configured to carry the latent heat of vaporization from the condenser back to the water source side of the ionomer membrane. The source water may be heated by a solar water heater.
