SYSTEM AND METHOD FOR SEPARATING COMPETING ANIONS FROM PER- AND POLYFLUOROALKYL SUBSTANCES (PFAS) IN A FLOW OF WATER
20240368003 · 2024-11-07 ·

A system for separating competing anions from per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS) in a flow of water contaminated with PFAS and elevated levels of competing anions that includes a separation subsystem which receives the flow of water contaminated with PFAS and elevated levels of competing anions and separates competing anions from the PFAS and concentrates the PFAS to produce a treated flow of water having separated competing anions therein and a flow of water having a majority of PFAS therein. At least one anion exchange vessel having an anion exchange resin therein receives the flow of water having a majority of PFAS therein and removes PFAS from the water to produce a flow of treated water having a majority of the PFAS removed. The separation of competing anions by the separation subsystem increases the treatment capacity of the anion exchange resin to remove PFAS from the contaminated water.

Disclosed are methods and devices useful for aerating and or adding additives to carbon-containing aqueous waste.

Fluid remanufacturing

Wastewater is remanufactured with ozone in a series of mixing vessels. The ozone is dispersed to both a top and a bottom portion of each mixing vessel, but in different amounts. This creates an electrical potential difference across the height of each mixing vessel which significantly improves the oxidation of organic carbon-based impurities and eliminates H2S and bacteria. Sludge and solids floating to the top of each mixing vessels are removed, as well as sludge and solids settling to the bottom of the mixing vessels. When oil and gas well wastewater is treated in this manner, the resulting treated water is purified and has a high salt content suitable for oil or gas well injection.

Modular liquid waste treatment system and method

A modular liquid waste treatment system is disclosed. In accordance with some embodiments, the system includes a central distribution unit and one or more treatment fins in flow communication therewith. The distribution unit may be configured to receive liquid waste from a given source and distribute that waste, at least in part, to one or more treatment fins. In turn, bacteria present in a given treatment fin treat the liquid waste, and the resultant treated liquid may drain from the fin to the surrounding environment. In some embodiments, a given treatment fin may include porous media providing a large surface area on which bacteria may grow to facilitate treatment. The system may be installed in and/or above the ground, and in some cases may be surrounded, at least in part, with treatment sand and/or other treatment media. The system may be used in aerobic and/or anaerobic processing of liquid waste.

LOW-PRESSURE AERATION TREATMENT OF BIOLOGICAL WASTEWATER

Described are a method and apparatus for the biological treatment of wastewater in an activated sludge process that use a primary separator to produce a pretreated wastewater, a pressurized aeration tank which has a headspace pressure of between about 1 and about 10 psi, and a secondary separator to separate mixed liquor from the aeration tank into an activated sludge component and a clarified liquor component. The aeration tank has a rectangular or square base and may be cuboid. Embodiments contemplate making a package plant, and may use a screening tank, a membrane separator, air eductors to aerate a return activated sludge, and multiplier nozzles to introduce the return activated sludge into the aeration tank. The apparatus has a small footprint, is simple in design, and is low maintenance.

MULTISTAGE AERATION SYSTEM

The multistage aeration system includes a water jet tank system having a closed water tank that holds a pool of water and seals in air above the pool of water. A nozzle in the top portion includes air bleeder passages to allow an ambient air to flow through the nozzle and into the closed water tank. A water flow meter and a water pump circulate water from the closed water tank to outside the tank through the water flow meter and then through the nozzle. The nozzle entrains air through the bleeder passages into the water as the water passes through the nozzle, and forms a jet spray into the pool of water. An air flow meter valve and a closed water tank air outlet pipe extend from the closed water tank and connect the water jet tank system to a diffused aeration tank system with a series tank system.

AUTOMATED MANURE AGITATION AND TRANSFER
20170118907 · 2017-05-04 · ·

A system and method that automatically transfer liquid manure from an intermediate holding receptacle to a lagoon involves a common pump for both agitating the liquid manure in and pumping the liquid manure from the receptacle. A pump motor, first valve, second valve and directable agitation nozzle of the pump are controlled by an electronic controller. The electronic controller switches on the pump motor, ensures that the first valve is closed and ensures that the second valve is open when the receptacle is full, directs the nozzle to at least two different locations in the receptacle to permit liquid manure to be redirected to the at least two different locations to agitate the liquid manure for a predetermined period of time, and opens the first valve after the predetermined period of time to permit pumping of the liquid manure from the receptacle to the lagoon. The system and method reduce equipment cost, equipment maintenance and the amount of operator time required to perform liquid manure transfer, while providing better agitation and more complete emptying of the receptacle in a shorter period of time.

EQUIPMENT AND METHOD FOR MODULATING MICROBIAL CONSORTIA

Equipment and a method for on-site and ex-situ modulation of microbial consortia useful in liquid and semi-solid effluents or solid waste treatment systems, for removing and/or reusing undesirable organic or inorganic loads. The equipment has of a main cultivation tank or a liquid body provided with an ex-situ subsystem for modulating microbial consortia for subsequent or concomitant introduction into the main cultivation tank or reactor or into the liquid body. The process is implemented in a culture equipment with controlled conditions for introducing the microorganism-enriched material into the effluent or solid waste to be treated, in the form of pre-cultivation and/or co-cultivation. The ex-situ subsystem of the invention has a device for forming gas/air bubbles in a liquid suitable for applying a shearing force to the microorganisms present in the subsystem, and also useful for modulating the microbial consortia in a main cultivation tank or a liquid body.
