Surgical bur with a head having plural flutes, the flutes shaped so that, at the equator, the head has a shape that is not circular
A bur with features that minimize the application of substantially identical forces to the tissue against which the bur is applied. One of these features is the arrangement of the flutes so that one pair of flutes projects outwardly from the tip at an acute angle that is greater than the angle at which the other flutes project outwardly from tip. Consequently at the equator of the bur head, the location along the bur head where the bur head has a maximum diameter, the flutes define a perimeter that is non-circular in shape.
Gearless Compact Torque Drive
Disposable torque-limiting mechanisms with an upper shank component with a torque-limiting interface, a lower shank component with a torque-limiting interface, and a rubbery spring material biasing element. Torque-limiting interfaces having a plurality of undulations arranged around an axial bore or drive socket and separated by a plurality of transition regions, with each undulation having an upslope, a peak, and a downslope. The torque-limiting interfaces are configured to engage and disengage to provide torque transmission with predetermined torque limits at various rotational speeds and for amounts of actuations while remaining within a specified operational range.
Orthopaedic reamer connector
An orthopedic reamer connector includes a holder section shaped to allow for connection of an orthopedic reamer, the holder section including a connection surface and two pairs of holders associated with the connection surface, each of the two pairs of holders having a first holder and a second holder that forms an acute angle relative to the first holder, the first holders being opposed to each other by about 180 degrees and the second holders being opposed to each other by about 180 degrees; and a stop section mechanically interlocked with the holder section so as to prevent relative rotation therebetween and including a pair of stops associated with each of the two pairs of holders, each of the pair of stops having a first stop associated with the first holder and a second stop associated with the second holder.
Surgical Tool System Including a Bore for Receiving Wire
A surgical tool system is provided. The surgical tool system includes a tool unit including an energy applicator that is actuated by a power generating unit. The surgical tool system also includes a battery and control module including a module housing shaped to receive the tool unit and having a bore that establishes a channel through the module housing, wherein when the tool unit is received by the module housing, the channel extends to the cannulated rotor.
Combination drill guide and depth gauge surgical instrument for implanting an acetabular cup component and associated surgical method
A combination drill guide and depth gauge surgical instrument for use during a surgical procedure to implant an acetabular cup component into a surgically-prepared acetabulum of a patient's hip includes an elongated shaft having a drill guide on an end thereof. The instrument also includes a retractable depth probe that may be used to gauge the depth of the holes drilled by use of the drill guide. A method of using such an instrument is also disclosed.
INHERITED MOTION INFORMATION FOR DECODING A CURRENT CODING UNIT IN A VIDEO CODING SYSTEM
A method of video decoding at a decoder can include receiving a bitstream including encoded data of a picture, decoding a plurality of coding units (CUs) in the picture based on motion information stored in a history-based motion vector prediction (HMVP) table, resetting the HMVP table for every N CTU rows. The method also provides updating the HMVP table with the motion information of the last Q of the plurality of CUs.
System, apparatus, and method for grafting tissue
Systems, apparatus, and methods may be adapted for grafting tissue at a tissue site that may include an elongate housing and a plurality of elongate cutting members. The plurality of elongate cutting members may define a cutting surface at a distal end of the elongate housing. The cutting surface may be adapted to contract from a first diameter to a second diameter that is less than the first diameter. The contraction of the cutting surface from the first diameter to the second diameter may define a tapered profile between the first diameter and the second diameter suitable for obtaining a tapered graft.
Shaped tip burr instrument
An improved motorized burr instrument for operation on tissue at a desired surgical site surrounding by fluid, the motorized burr instrument being operable with a variable speed motor at a rotary drive coupler with a hub extending therefrom, an outer sheath housing a rotating member extending between the rotary drive coupler and a burr having a cutting edge with at least one radial projection joining a leading and a trailing edge and rotating said fluid through the outer sheath as the cutting edge is rotated.
Surgical tool system with a tool unit that includes a power generating unit and a battery and control module that is releasably attached to the tool unit for energizing and controlling the power generating unit
A battery and control module to which a powered surgical tool is releasably attached. Internal to the module there is: a cell for energizing the tool; a sensor for monitoring an operational state of the tool; a sensor for monitoring a trigger external to the module; and a control circuit. Based on the signals output by the sensors, the control circuit selectively applies energization signals from the cell to the power generating unit internal to the surgical tool. In some versions of the invention, the trigger is attached to the module.
Medical motor drill with angle adjusting function
Disclosed is a medical motor drill having an angle adjusting function. The medical motor drill includes a main body, a shaft connected to the main body, a drill unit connected to the shaft so as to be bendable relative to the shaft, the drill unit including a motor configured to receive power from the main body and a drill blade configured to be rotated by the motor, a drive force transmission unit configured to bend the drill unit relative to the shaft, and an angle adjustment unit connected to the drive force transmission unit to adjust a bending degree of the drill unit. The medical motor drill has advantages of enabling drilling over a wide range in a state in which a drill manipulation position is fixed and of enabling adjustment in the angle of the drill unit that is located distant from a user manipulation position.
