METHODS AND APPARATUS FOR IMPROVING RELIABILITY OF COVER SUBSTRATE AGAINST IMPACT FRACTURES

A substrate having inner and outer major surfaces, a plurality of edge surfaces, and a plurality of corner surfaces; and at least one of: (i) a coating applied over a limited area of the outer major surface of the substrate to produce a composite structure, (ii) an intermediate layer applied to the inner major surface of the substrate, and (iii) an elongate discontinuity disposed at one or more corners of the substrate, each of which operates to reduce catastrophic failures in the substrate resulting from a dynamic sharp impact to the outer major surface of the substrate.

Transparent conducting films containing single-walled carbon nanotubes dispersed in an azo dye

Described are carbon nanotube dispersions containing single-walled carbon nanotubes dispersed in a dispersant solution comprising a solvent (water, organic polar protic solvents, and/or organic polar aprotic solvents), and an azo compound. The single-walled carbon nanotubes are not cross-linked with covalent bonds. The dispersions are useful for fabricating transparent conductive thin films on flexible and inflexible substrates. Methods for making the transparent conductive thin films are also described.

Complex Retroreflective Bead
20200132896 · 2020-04-30 · ·

A retroreflective composite bead for highway marking having high retroreflectivity both when initially installed and over the bead lifetime, allowing vehicle drivers to see highway marking lines at night and in adverse conditions during nighttime. When installed the retroreflective beads essentially retroreflect the base color of the highway marking material in which the retroreflective beads are embedded. The beads comprise a larger bead with a coating of smaller particles heat bonded to its surface.
