Aerodynamic or hydrodynamic blade made of layered material
A blade made of layered material, such as composite material, configured for exposure to a fluid flow, comprises skins (1, 2) defined between a leading edge (3) and a trailing edge (4) which skins in cross-section form a flow profile. The layered material may consist of several layers of fiber material (5, 5′, . . . ) impregnated with a matrix material, wherein layers of fiber material each comprise a respective body portion (6, 6′, . . . , 13) between and transverse to the skins and each at least a respective skin portion (7, 7′, . . . ; 8, 8′, . . . ) that forms part of the skins. The said skin portions all extend from the related body portion in the direction of the trailing edge. Of said skin portions at least two consecutive skin portions of the one skin overlap and/or two consecutive skin portions of the other skin overlap each other.
Processes for preparing porous ceramics for acoustic transducers
A process for preparing a porous ceramic body includes forming a green body with a mixture of ceramic material powder, binder material, and pore-forming particles. The process further includes extracting the binder material, decomposing the pore-forming particles, and removing residual organic materials from the green body at respective, progressively higher pre-firing temperatures. After these three stages, the green body is sintered at a still-higher temperature to form the porous ceramic body. Embodiments facilitate manufacturing and can render most or all surface grinding unnecessary, allowing electrode deposition directly onto substantially non-porous surfaces of the porous ceramic body that are naturally formed during sintering. Advantageously, the green body may be formed into net shape by injection molding the mixture that includes the pore-forming particles, and embodiments can result in porous ceramic bodies that are much thicker than currently available, with better structural integrity.
Porous fired granulated body and method for manufacturing the same
A porous fired granulated body is formed by consolidating numerous alumina particles to each other while letting mainly interconnected pores remain in network form across an entire cross section of a granulated body particle. The pores have an inner diameter controlled by a droplet diameter of a pore forming agent and have numerous precipitated alumina crystals formed on inner surfaces thereof. Manufacture is performed by spraying the pore forming agent (emulsion) onto a raw material to form a coating layer of the pore forming agent on a surface of the raw material particle and controlling the inner diameter of the pores. A porous fired granulated body of alumina having a high specific surface area and having higher strength for the same specific surface area can thus be provided by a simple manufacturing method.
Solid electrolyte, manufacturing method thereof, and gas sensor
A solid electrolyte includes partially stabilized zirconia in which a stabilizer forms a solid solution in zirconia. The partially stabilized zirconia includes, as crystal particles that configure the partially stabilized zirconia, stabilizer low-concentration phase particles of which concentration of the stabilizer at a particle center is less than 4.7 mol % and stabilizer high-concentration phase particles of which the concentration of the stabilizer at the particle center is equal to or greater than 4.7 mol %. The partially stabilized zirconia includes an adjacent particle portion in which two or more particles of the stabilizer low-concentration phase particles of which an average particle size is greater than 0.1 μm are adjacent. An abundance ratio of the stabilizer high-concentration phase particles on a cross-section of the solid electrolyte is equal to or greater than 70% in terms of area ratio relative to all crystal particles.
Solid-phase-sintered Silicon Carbide Article and Preparation Method thereof
The present application relates to the field of engineering ceramic materials, and specifically discloses a solid-phase-sintered silicon carbide article and a preparation method thereof. A method for preparing a solid-phase-sintered silicon carbide article includes the following steps: grinding of raw materials: mixing a micron-scale silicon carbide powder with a boron-containing sintering aid and wet grinding to obtain a slurry; spray granulating: adding a water-soluble carbon black and a binder to the slurry, stirring evenly, and spray granulating to obtain a granulated powder of silicon carbide; mixing; ageing: ageing the wet powder obtained by mixing to obtain a aged material; post-processing: subjecting the aged material to pugging, extruding, drying and heating.
DENSITY ENHANCEMENT METHODS AND COMPOSITIONS
The present invention relates to granular composite density enhancement, and related methods and compositions. The applications where these properties are valuable include but are not limited to: 1) additive manufacturing (“3D printing”) involving metallic, ceramic, cermet, polymer, plastic, or other dry or solvent-suspended powders or gels, 2) concrete materials, 3) solid propellant materials, 4) cermet materials, 5) granular armors, 6) glass-metal and glass-plastic mixtures, and 7) ceramics comprising (or manufactured using) granular composites.
Ultralimit alloy and preparation method therefor
The present disclosure belongs to the field of preparation technology and provides an ultralimit alloy and a preparation method therefor. The ultralimit alloy comprises an alloy matrix. A bonding layer and a ceramic layer are successively deposited on a surface of the alloy matrix. The alloy matrix includes one of a magnesium alloy matrix, an aluminium alloy matrix, a titanium alloy matrix, an iron alloy matrix, a nickel alloy matrix, a copper alloy matrix, a zirconium alloy, and a tin alloy. For an ultralimit magnesium alloy, an ultralimit aluminium alloy, an ultralimit nickel alloy, an ultralimit titanium alloy, an ultralimit iron alloy and an ultralimit copper alloy, the bonding layer is a composite bonding layer, the ceramic layer is a composite ceramic layer, and the outside of the composite ceramic layer is further successively deposited with a reflecting layer, a catadioptric layer, an insulating layer and a carbon foam layer.
3-D printing of a ceramic component
A method for producing the component, and to the use of the component. The method for producing a three-dimensional, ceramic component containing silicon carbide, by a) providing a powdery composition having a grain size (d50) between 3 microns and 500 microns and comprising at least 50 wt % of coke, b) providing a liquid binder, c) depositing a layer of the material provided in a) in a planar manner and locally depositing drops of the material provided in b) onto said layer and repeating step c), the local depositing of the drops in the subsequent repetitions of the step is adapted in accordance with the desired shape of the component to be produced, d) at least partially curing or drying the binder and obtaining a green body having the desired shape of the component, e) carbonising the green body, and f) siliconising the carbonised green body by infiltration with liquid silicon.
TERNARY PARAELECTRIC MATERIAL WITH SPACE GROUP CC AND METHOD OF MANUFACTURING THE SAME
A ternary paraelectric having a Cc structure and a method of manufacturing the same are provided. The ternary paraelectric having a Cc structure includes a material having a chemical formula of A.sub.2B.sub.4O.sub.11 that has a monoclinic system, is a space group No. 9, and has a dielectric constant of 150 to 250, wherein “A” is a Group 1 element, and “B” is a Group 5 element. “A” may include one of Na, K, Li and Rb. “B” may include one of Nb, V, and Ta. The A.sub.2B.sub.4O.sub.11 material may be Na.sub.2Nb.sub.4O.sub.11 in which bandgap energy thereof is greater than that of STO. The A.sub.2B.sub.4O.sub.11 material may have relative density that is greater than 90% or more.
BIOCARBON BLENDS WITH OPTIMIZED FIXED CARBON CONTENT, AND METHODS FOR MAKING AND USING THE SAME
In some variations, the invention provides a biocarbon composition comprising a low fixed carbon material with a fixed carbon concentration from 20 wt % to 55 wt %; a high fixed carbon material with a fixed carbon concentration from 50 wt % to 100 wt % (and higher than the fixed carbon concentration of the low fixed carbon material; from 0 to 30 wt % moisture; from 0 to 15 wt % ash; and from 0 to 20 wt % of one or more additives (such as a binder). Some variations provide a process for producing a biocarbon composition, the process comprising: pyrolyzing a first biomass-containing feedstock to generate a low fixed carbon material; separately pyrolyzing a second biomass-containing feedstock to generate a high fixed carbon material; blending the low fixed carbon material with the high fixed carbon material, thereby generating an intermediate material; optionally, blending one or more additives into the intermediate material; optionally, drying the intermediate material; and recovering a biocarbon composition containing the intermediate material or a thermally treated form thereof.
