The shield covers portions of a linkage that extend beyond outer dimensions of the shaft during operation of the instrument. The counterweight is proximal to a hand grip and configured to locate a center of gravity of the instrument within the hand grip. The instrument may be configured as a video-assisted thoracoscopic (VATS) and/or minimally invasive cardiac surgery (MICS) device.
HANDHELD MICROSURGICAL ROBOT
A handheld microsurgical robot according to an embodiment of the present disclosure includes a tool, and a driving mechanism configured to detachably fix the tool and operate the tool, wherein the driving mechanism includes a platform supporting the tool, a plurality of driving assemblies connected to the platform and configured to operate the platform; and a base configured to fix the plurality of driving assemblies, wherein each of the plurality of driving assemblies is capable of a linear motion with respect to the base and is capable of a rotational motion with respect to the base, wherein a position and an angle of the platform with respect to the base are controlled by the linear motion of each of the plurality of driving assemblies.
Medical instrument, medical device, method of manufacturing medical instrument, and metal article
A medical instrument with excellent operability is provided. The medical instrument includes stick-shaped extra-narrow metal members. The extra-narrow member has a hardened layer formed on the surface thereof without losing flexibility.
Needle receptacle for increased operating room efficiency
Systems, devices and methods to improve safety and efficiency in an operating room comprise providing a suture package that holds new suture needles and needle receptacles for storing used needles. The devices can be safely worn for the surgeon to self-dispense new suture needles in the near surgical field and to secure the used needles into a needle trap or a needle retainer located on his extremity, on his operative instruments or on the surgical drapes. The device may provide automated and/or simplified needle counting both during use and after removal from the surgical field. The device may be configured for ergonomic and efficient use so as to minimize the actions and motions of the surgeon to dispense and secure the needle.
SURGICAL APPARATUS FOR PERFORMING MICROSURGERY INCLUDING A MULTIFUNCTIONAL INTRAOCULAR PICK/DISSECTOR
Surgical apparatus for performing a microsurgery including a cannula having an intraocular portion. The intraocular portion connects to an infusion tube. The intraocular portion includes fenestrations at its distal end. The intraocular portion receives fluid through the infusion tube and dispenses the fluid through the fenestrations lessening the flow at an infusion site in an eye. The surgical apparatus includes a vitreous cutter. The vitreous cutter includes a suction tube at one end and a shaft at another end. The cutting port cuts vitreous into smaller pieces or a laser that liquefies the vitreous. The shaft receives the cut vitreous pieces and the suction tube draws out the cut vitreous pieces from the eye. The surgical apparatus includes a vitreoretinal surgical tool having a vitreoretinal cutter. The vitreoretinal cutter has a scissor-like or forceps-like mechanism. The vitreoretinal cutter holds and/or cuts a membrane in the eye during the microsurgery.
MULTIFUNCTIONAL SURGICAL INSTRUMENT
A multifunctional surgical instrument (1) is provided. The multifunctional surgical instrument (1) comprises a proximal portion (13) and two legs (14), each leg comprising a distal end (11, 12), wherein a default position of the multifunctional surgical instrument is an open position, wherein the distal ends (11, 12) of the legs (14) do not meet in the open position, characterized in that each leg (14) comprises an aspiration half-channel (26, 27), the proximal portion (13) comprises an aspiration connection (29) and at least one of the distal ends (11, 12) comprises at least one aspiration orifice (28), wherein the two half-channels (26, 27) are configured to form an air-tight and water-tight continuous channel (25) connecting the at least one aspiration orifice (28) to the aspiration connection (29) when the multifunctional surgical instrument is in a fully closed position and are configured to open the aspiration channel (25) when the multifunctional surgical instrument is not in the fully closed position.
MICROSURGICAL HOLDING AND/OR CUTTING INSTRUMENT
A surgical instrument includes a first lever element and a second lever element interconnected by a lever element hinge. Each lever element includes a grip portion and a jaw portion. A first spring portion and a second spring portion are proximally connected to the grip portions. A proximal free end of the first spring portion is coupled to a proximal free end of the second spring portion by a hinged joint. The hinged joint includes a hinge pin and at least one bearing eye. The at least one bearing eye forms a continuous longitudinal slit for radial insertion of the hinge pin. The slit extends diagonally relative to the axis of the at least one bearing eye so that at least one spring portion has to be twisted during radial insertion of the hinge pin into the at least one bearing eye.
MICROSURGICAL INSTRUMENT TIP
An assembled blank may include a blank tip attached to a blank base, e.g., the blank tip may be welded to the blank base. The blank tip may be manufactured by modifying flat stock, e.g., tiers of blank tips may be manufactured by modifying tiers of flat stock. The blank tip may comprise a first forceps jaw, a second forceps jaw, and a blank tip aperture. The assembled blank may be disposed within a hypodermic tube and an actuation structure of a microsurgical instrument.
SURGICAL MULTI-TOOL AND METHOD OF USE
Surgical tool are disclosed that include a first tip and a second tip. The first tip and the second tip can have a first configuration, an intermediate configuration, and a second configuration. In the first configuration the tool operates as forceps and in the second configuration the tool operates as scissors. In the intermediate configuration the tool operates as a probe. The tips can be brought together to transition between the first configuration and the intermediate configuration. The tips can be rotated to transition between the intermediate configuration and the second configuration. Method are disclosed that include the step of providing a tool having a first tip extending distally and a second tip extending distally, moving at least one of the first tip and the second tip toward the other of the first tip and the second tip, and rotating the first tip and the second tip.
REUSABLE INSTRUMENT HANDLE WITH SINGLE-USE TIP
