Irrigation fluid for resection
An electrically conductive irrigation fluid for use in bipolar resectoscopic surgery, wherein the irrigation fluid being brought into contact with the electrode of a resectoscope and tissue being coagulated and/or resected by means of the electrode surrounded by the irrigation fluid, wherein the irrigation fluid includes metal ions. Moreover, the method relates to a resectoscopy system including a resectoscope and an irrigation system that is connected to the resectoscope, the resectoscope having a handle and a tubular shaft, and the shaft including an electrode instrument that is arranged so as to be longitudinally displaceable and has in its distal end region an electrode to which high-frequency current can be applied, wherein the irrigation system includes an irrigation fluid, which can be conducted through the shaft of the resectoscope to the electrode.
Apparatus with deployable probe and blade and methods of use
A device includes a handle, an apparatus for probing and cutting, and an adaptor. The handle includes one or more triggers. The apparatus for probing and cutting is connectable to the handle and includes an elongated member, a probe, and a blade. The probe and the blade are selectively deployable from the elongate member via activation of the one or more triggers on the handle. The adaptor is configured to selectively connect the apparatus to the handle in a predetermined orientation.
Lateral disc cutter with replaceable blades
A lateral disc cutter for morcellating and decorticating tissue of an intervertebral disc from between adjacent vertebrae. The device can be arranged in a retracted configuration for insertion via an access tube, and in an extended configuration for cutting of tissue in the target region. The blades may be extended to contact the concave endplate in an orientation that is substantially parallel to a mid-plane of the intervertebral disc. Blades of the device may be configured with a convex profile that substantially conforms to the concave shape of the endplate for enhanced contact length between the blade and the endplate. In some embodiments, the blades are configured for removal and replacement without need for tools, with the blades selectively determining a maximum displacement width of the morecellator assembly.
APPARATUS FOR TREATING REFLUX DISEASE (GERD) AND OBESITY
An obesity treatment apparatus comprises at least one operable stretching device implantable in an obese patient and adapted to stretch a portion of the patient's stomach wall, and an operation device for operating the stretching device when implanted to stretch the stomach wall portion such that satiety is created.
ENDOSCOPIC TREATMENT TOOL
An endoscopic treatment tool, includes an elongated member having a distal end and a proximal end; a braid disposed between the distal end and the proximal end of the elongated member; a distal indicator disposed on the elongated member between a distal end and a proximal end of the braid, the distal indicator extending along a longitudinal axis of the elongated member; a proximal indicator disposed between the distal end and the proximal end of the braid on the elongated member at a more proximal side of the elongated member than the distal indicator, the proximal indicator extending along the longitudinal axis; and a pre-curved shape portion formed in a curved shape, wherein each of the distal indicator and the proximal indicator has a width less than half of an outer circumferential surface of the elongated member in a circumferential direction of the elongated member, respectively.
SYSTEMS AND METHODS FOR MEASURING AND CONTROLLING PRESSURE WITHIN AN INTERNAL BODY CAVITY
A system includes an endoscope configured for insertion into an internal body cavity and a fluid management system. The fluid management system includes a pump configured to pump fluid through the endoscope into the internal body cavity and a controller configured to determine a pressure within the internal body cavity based upon a current feedback signal received from the pump. A method includes supplying a drive signal to a pump to pump fluid into an internal body cavity, receiving a current feedback signal from the pump, and determining a pressure within the internal body cavity based on the current feedback signal.
EXPANDABLE REAMER
A surgical device may include a tube and a cutting blade movable between a first position in which the cutting blade is concealed inside the tube and a second position in which the cutting blade is exposed through a sidewall of the tube.
DEVICE TO GUIDE INCISIONS IN PENILE SURGERY
The present invention relates to a device to guide incisions in penile surgery comprising an auxetic EVA sheet (1) that is fixed in the penile corpora cavernosa, said device having star-shaped perforations (2) that create a triangle rotated system, which allows to make specific micro incisions in the penile corpora cavernosa, generating simultaneous two-dimensional expansion of the tunica albuginea, providing a real increase in length and diameter (girth), in addition to correcting any other type of penile deformity, like penile curvature.
SURGICAL INSTRUMENT FOR BLUNT DISSECTION, DILATION OF INCISIONS, AND SEPARATION OF ADHESIONS
Apparatus for blunt dissection, dilation of incisions, and separation of adhesions, the apparatus comprising: a frame; first and second belt supports mounted to the frame, the first and second belt supports being reconfigurable between a closed position and an open position; first and second continuous loop belts movably supported by the first and second belt supports, respectively, wherein the first and second continuous loop belts provide first and second outside surface face portions, respectively, and further wherein the first outside surface face portion is separated from the second outside surface face portion by a first distance when the first and second belt supports are in their closed position, and the first outside surface face portion is separated from the second outside surface face portion by a second, larger distance when the first and second belt supports are in their open position.
APPARATUS FOR FACILITATING ACCESS TO ABDOMINAL CAVITY OF A PATIENT AND REMOVING LARGER CANCEROUS TUMORS
An apparatus and method is provided for accessing an abdominal cavity of a patient via the anus for any number of surgical operations, e.g., colon cancer, appendectomy, lymph node biopsy, etc. The apparatus includes a tubular body that extends to an open end having a plurality of holes. The tubular body is inserted into the intestine of the patient, and a clamp is inserted through the tubular body of the apparatus and into the intestine. The clamp and the attached intestine is then pulled into the tubular body, so that the intestine can then be cut. The clamp and the adjacent intestine are then moved out of the tubular body so that the surgery may be performed through the intestine. The cut ends of the intestine can then be reattached (e.g., stapled, sutured, etc.) following completion of the surgery.
