METHOD FOR TREATING OR ALLEVIATING BACK PAIN
The present invention relates to a method for treating back pain, wherein over a certain first time period, a first electrical stimulation is applied via an electrode. The first electrical stimulation is a first tonic electrical signal having a consistent frequency of about 2 Hz to about 35 Hz. Via the first tonic electrical signal, a contraction of the patient's both superficial and deeper lying back's muscle groups is caused.
INTEGRATED NEEDLE-CATHETER SYSTEMS AND METHODS OF USE
In some embodiments, disclosed herein are systems and methods of treating a patient that can include the steps of accessing the sphenopalatine fossa, and cannulating the inferior orbital fissure from the sphenopalatine fossa to access the retro-orbital space. The sphenopalatine fossa can be accessed via various routes, including percutaneously. Accessing the sphenopalatine fossa can include the step of inserting a needle-catheter system into the sphenopalatine fossa. Integrated needle-catheter systems as described herein can also be configured to access the trigeminal ganglion, epidural space, intrathecal space, and other desired anatomical locations.
NEUROVASCULAR PUNCTURE-AVOIDANT SHEATH
A device and method for a guidance sheath is provided which is configured to prevent laceration or puncture of nerves, blood vessels and surrounding tissue, during positioning of a coaxially located needle employed for various medical procedures, such as, the administration of an anesthetic blockade, neuromonitoring, electromyography or a therapeutic intervention. The body of the sheath may be electrically conductive to allow communication of electric current to exposed portions of an exterior surface of the body of the device which are not coated with an insulation.
Device and method for identification of a target region
A method and apparatus are provided for use in locating a target region which is situated in the body of a subject, for example for the delivery of drugs. The system includes an assembly for controlling the flow of fluid from a fluid reservoir to a conduit, such as a needle. A sensor detects a characteristic indicative of the fluid pressure in the conduit. The system processes data from the sensor to detect the presence of a pulsatile waveform. A controller may control further operation of the system based on information regarding the presence of the pulsatile waveform and features of the waveform, such as amplitude.
DOUBLE NEEDLE SYSTEM TO FACILITATE PLACING ABDOMINAL WALL NERVE BLOCKS OR INFUSION CATHETERS
The invention relates to laparoscopic surgery and procedures designed to minimize and numb the pain associated with laparoscopic surgery, including how to locate the target nerve plane, such as the rectus abdominis sheath and transversus abdominus plane. Specialized single and dual needle devices are used. This is accomplished by applying an analgesic to the rectus abdominal sheath or the transversus abdominus plane. More particularly, the invention relates to a pain reduction means using an analgesic delivering device used in laparoscopic surgery. A specialized probe is used to find the correct position and a specialized guide system to speed up the positioning process.
Identifying a target anatomic location in a subject's body, and delivering a medicinal substance thereto
Identifying target anatomic locations in a subject's body, and delivering medicinal substances thereto, following transtissual progression (penetrating, cutting through body tissue) and reaching body tissue with medical device distal tip. Involves acquiring mechanical properties of body tissue. Exemplary medicinal substance is, or includes, a drug (anesthetic agent), and exemplary target anatomic location is epidural space in subject's body. Exemplary system includes: cannular member enclosing cannula lumen; pusher-probe having distal end in cannula lumen and positionable from retracted to protruding positions, wherein pusher-probe distal end protrudes out of cannula distal end; and extending mechanism including cam member, a follower shiftable from first to second stations on cam member, and plunger selectively traveling in cannula lumen while forcing relative motion between cam member and follower, wherein pusher-probe distal end repositions between retracted and protruding positions. Optionally, includes data-information analyzing device having triggering mechanism via a winged hub member and associated components.
METHODS AND SYSTEM FOR ULTRASONIC TARGETED DRUG DELIVERY IN CYSTIC FLUIDS, SUCH AS THE CEREBROSPINAL FLUID, USING BUOYANCY SPECIFIC DRUG CARRIERS
A method for delivering drugs into cystic fluid, the method comprising injecting a drug delivery system (DDS) into a cystic fluid space at an injection site, the DDS comprising at least one therapeutic agent encapsulated in biodegradable polymers, applying ultrasonic energy proximal to the injection site, and controlling the at least one of buoyancy, delivery location, mixing, and dispersion of the DDS to a targeted area using the ultrasonic energy.
Guiding system for the insertion of a medical needle
A guiding system (1, 101) for guiding the insertion of a needle (2) and a catheter (6) for medical use in a biological tissue, the guiding system (1, 101) comprising: the needle (2) the catheter (6) inserted into the needle (2); an optical fiber (8) provided with at least one optical sensor (10) and inserted into the catheter (6), a first blocking device (12, 112) for firmly blocking the catheter (6) inside the needle (2).
DISPOSABLE SINGLE-USE INTRAOSSEOUS DEVICE WITH BATTERY REMOVAL DOORS HAVING LIVING HINGE ON HANDLE
A portable and passive safety intraosseous device to allow for direct introduction of medications, etc., within the intermedullary space of a subject patient's bone or, if needed, the removal of certain substances from such a subject patient's bone. Such a device permits direct drilling and placement of a cannula within the subject bone with access external to the subject patient's skin, permitting, as well, connection of a tube for such introduction/removal purposes. The ability to provide a passive safety unit allows for facilitated utilization in, for instance, emergency situations with the entire device provided for utilization thereof. The device includes a drilling component with a permanently attached stylet and a removable cannula, a power supply for a single drilling operation, a mechanism to draw the stylet back into the drill component after use and disengagement from the cannula, and an automatic closure that activates with the separation of the cannula.
Cannula
The present application relates to a cannula, comprising a cannula body with a cannula tube and a body part attached to the proximal end of the cannula tube, a control clip having a mounting body with at least one control element, said control clip being attachable laterally on the body part to form a first configuration. In addition, the present applications relates to a cannula body, a contact clip and a control clip of a cannula.
