An ultrasonic imaging configuration rendering an image based on a reflected beam aligned with a needle insertion axis provides enhanced images and guidance. A percutaneous insertion guidance device for ultrasonic (US) imaging includes an US transducer and a reflector for redirecting imaging signals between the transducer and an imaged region. An enclosure or bracket is adapted to support the reflector at a predetermined angle based on a surgical target in the imaged region such that a forward beam direction from the transducer reflects in a direction of the needle insertion as the needle passes through a discontinuity or slot in the reflector. The resulting return signal is based on an axial alignment of the US signals with the needle travel towards the surgical target.

IMAGING NEEDLE GUIDE

A needle guide comprising a base to which a pair of horizontal slide bars are secured, the horizontal slide bars including a channel opening running between the bars, a needle stabilizer with a central tube is slideably engaged with the pair of horizontal slide bars, wherein the needle stabilizer extends through the channel opening and has the ability to change positions along a length of the horizontal slide bar, an angular ruler is secured to the base and located proximal to the needle stabilizer to allow accurate adjustment of the angle of the externally adjustable needle guide and one or more virtual visualization bars to aid in visualization using radiography, ultrasound, or magnetic resonance (or any other medical imaging technology) to visualize the virtual visualization bars.

Biopsy needle

A biopsy needle for collecting a tissue specimen includes an outer cannula and an inner tube received within the outer cannula and configured to receive a stylet. The outer cannula is fixedly coupled to a needle holder that is coupled to and moves with a movable base that is axially movable within the handle housing. An inner driven structure (curvilinear part) is configured to selectively engage the movable base and travel therewith in a first stage of operation and in a second stage of operation in which the inner driven structure is disengaged from the movable base, the inner driven structure is driven along the movable base which is held in a stationary position. The coupling between the inner driven structure and the inner tube is such that the axial driving of the inner driven structure imparts rotation to the inner tube relative to the outer cannula.

Patient-mounted micro vein enhancer

The present invention is a Miniature Vein Enhancer, for use in imaging the subcutaneous veins of a target area of a patient by a practitioner. The miniature vein enhancer includes a Miniature Projection Head that is secured to a tourniquet, where the tourniquet may be mounted to the bicep of a patient. The Miniature Projection Head includes a housing, and apparatus that images subcutaneous veins of the target area, and projects the image(s) of the veins onto the target area to overlie the subcutaneous veins, which aids the practitioner in pinpointing a vein location for a venipuncture procedure such as an intravenous drip, blood test, and the like.
