IMPROVED PERFORMANCE OF TECHNICAL CERAMICS
Disclosed herein is a ceramic particle comprising a core substrate chosen from yttria-stabilized zirconia, partially stabilized zirconia, zirconium oxide, aluminum nitride, silicon nitride, silicon carbide, and cerium oxide, and a conformal coating of a sintering aid film having a thickness of less than three nanometers and covering the core substrate, and methods for producing the ceramic particle.
PROCESS FOR PRODUCING A NON-DENSE SINTERED CERAMIC MOLDED BODY HAVING AT LEAST TWO LAYERS
A process for producing a non-dense sintered ceramic molded body having at least two layers, wherein a first powdery ceramic material forming a layer is contacted with at least a second powdery material forming at least a second layer; said first powdery material has a presintering temperature T.sub.1 that is higher than the presintering temperature T.sub.S of said at least second powdery ceramic material; the course of a curve of shrinkage S.sub.1 of said at least first powdery ceramic material differs from the course of a curve of shrinkage S.sub.2 of said at least second powdery material, wherein curve of shrinkage S.sub.1 is shifted towards higher temperatures as compared to curve of shrinkage S.sub.2; and the layers are subjected to a common temperature treatment at a presintering temperature T.sub.S that is lower than the presintering temperature T.sub.1 and at least equal to T.sub.3 to cause sintering that remains in a stage of sintering that has not proceeded to the theoretical density; wherein the curve of shrinkage S.sub.1 is modified by admixing at least one component having a curve of shrinkage S.sub.3 which material is compatible with said powdery ceramic material into said first powdery ceramic material, i.e. has a grain size smaller than the first powdery ceramic material, to equalize the curves of shrinkage S.sub.1 and S.sub.2 in the region of the presintering temperature T.sub.S.
Modified barium tungstate for co-firing
Disclosed herein are embodiments of low temperature co-fireable barium tungstate materials which can be used in combination with high dielectric materials, such as nickel zinc ferrite, to form composite structures, in particular for isolators and circulators for radiofrequency components. Embodiments of the material can include flux, such as bismuth vanadate, to reduce co-firing temperatures.
Substrate and method for producing the substrate
In an embodiment a method for producing a substrate includes forming a green sheet stack including first green sheets and second green sheets, wherein each of the first green sheets and the second green sheets contains a ceramic material as a main component, and wherein the second green sheets further contain a sintering aid in addition to the ceramic material.

A method of manufacturing ceramic tape includes a step of directing a tape of partially-sintered ceramic into a furnace. The tape is partially-sintered such that grains of the ceramic are fused to one another yet the tape still includes at least 10% porosity by volume, where the porosity refers to volume of the tape unoccupied by the ceramic. The method further includes steps of conveying the tape through the furnace and further sintering the tape as the tape is conveyed through the furnace. The porosity of the tape decreases during the further sintering step.
High translucent dental zirconia blank and sintered body
A dental block for producing a dental prosthesis comprises a green body including zirconia and having a chemical composition comprising between 6.0 wt % to 20 wt % of yttria (Y.sub.2O.sub.3). The green body is subsequently sinterable, with regular sintering in air and with no post HIP processing, to product a translucent sintered body with a total light transmittance of at least 36% to light with a wavelength of 400 nm at a thickness of 0.6 mm.
High Translucent Dental Zirconia Blank and Sintered Body
A zirconia ceramic body for use with dental prosthetics has an L* value between 10 and 20 for a sample thickness 011 to 1.3 mm in accordance with CIE L*a*b* colorimetric system. The zirconia ceramic body can have between 6-20 wt % or 7.20 wt % of yttria based on total weight percent of the zirconia ceramic body. The zirconia ceramic body is subsequently finally sinterable to produce a translucent zirconia sintered body. In one aspect, the sintered body has a total light transmittance of at least 36% and less than 50% to light with a wavelength of 400 nm, and less than 55% to light with a wavelength of 600 nm, at a thickness of 0.6 mm, measured using a LAMBDA 35 UV/VIS Spectrophotometer manufactured by Perkin Elmer.
