Passive safety intraosseous device

A portable and passive safety intraosseous device to allow for direct introduction of medications, etc., within the intermedullary space of a subject patient's bone or, if needed, the removal of certain substances from such a subject patient's bone. Such a device permits direct drilling and placement of a cannula within the subject bone with access external to the subject patient's skin, permitting, as well, connection of a tube for such introduction/removal purposes. The ability to provide a passive safety unit allows for facilitated utilization in, for instance, emergency situations with the entire device provided for utilization thereof. The device includes a drilling component with a permanently attached stylet and a removable cannula, a power supply for a single drilling operation, a mechanism to draw the stylet back into the drill component after use and disengagement from the cannula, and an automatic closure that activates with the separation of the cannula.

Expandable introducer sheath

An expandable introducer sheath for use in inserting a medical device into a body vessel of a patient includes a body which extends from a proximal end to a distal end along an axis. The body includes an inner layer, an outer layer, and an expandable reinforcement member which is disposed between said inner and outer layers. The expandable reinforcement member is configured to radially expand as the medical device is axially advanced or retracted through said introducer sheath. Once the medical device has exited the introducer sheath, the expandable reinforcement member facilitates a return of the introducer sheath to its original or unexpanded condition.

Low profile introducer apparatus

An introducer apparatus includes an outer sleeve and an inner cannula received within the lumen of the outer sleeve. The outer sleeve has a profile such that at least a portion of the distal end of the outer sleeve tapers in the distal direction at an angle not exceeding about 2° relative to a longitudinal axis of the apparatus. The distal open end of the outer sleeve has a wall thickness not exceeding about 0.003 inch. The inner cannula includes a tapered distal end portion. The tapered distal portion of the inner cannula extends distal to the distal open end of the outer sleeve, such that a generally smooth diametrical transition is provided between the outer sleeve tapered portion and the open distal end of the inner cannula.

Device for measuring urinary detrusor pressure

The present invention relates to a device for measuring bladder pressure, comprising: a measurement rod inserted into the abdomen of a user to measure both abdomen pressure and bladder pressure; and a body unit provided to be worn on the waist of the user and electrically connected to the measurement rod so as to calculate and store urinary detrusor pressure measured by subtracting a measurement abdomen pressure from a measurement bladder pressure measured by the measurement rod.

Fluid vessel communication device

A fluid vessel insertion device (10), typically for medical use, comprises a puncture member (18) arranged for locaton within a sleeve (20), and a retraction mechanism (44, 48, 60) for retracting the puncture member relative to the sleeve. The puncture member (18) is retractable in use between a first condition in which an end (18A) of the puncture member protrudes beyond an end (24) of the sleeve and a second condition in which the end of the puncture member is within the sleeve (20). The retraction mechanism (44, 48, 60) actuates the puncture member between the first and second conditions in response to fluid pressure at the end (18A) of the puncture member. The device may be used during positioning of the sleeve in a desired fluid vessel, such as, for example, during intravenous cannulation.

Myringotomy Tool With Multiple Tool Heads

A myringotomy device includes a housing; an elongated tube extending from the housing; and a retractable cutting tool extendable through the elongated tube, the cutting tool comprising a blade. The cutting tool is configured such that when advanced, the blade of the cutting tool extends beyond a distal end of the elongated tube. The cutting tool is also configured such that when retracted, the blade is retracted into the elongated tube and a fluid conduit is created from the distal end of the elongated tube to the housing.

MEDICAL PROCEDURE FOR INSERTING A CHEST DRAINAGE TUBE
20170296797 · 2017-10-19 ·

A single stage instrument is used to insert a chest drainage tube into the inter-pleural space to facilitate drainage. The instrument is scissor-like with cylinder-like channels to slidably enclose the distal section of the tube therein when closed. The tip of the instrument is curved to enter the skin incision and the offset pleural incision whereafter the instrument is rotated 180 degrees to align the curved tip with the pleural space. The curved tip facilitates sliding the chest drainage tube through the instrument to effect sufficient insertion length. Once the instrument is in place, the tube is slid along the instrument to ensure that all drainage holes in the chest drainage tube are within the pleural cavity. Thereafter, the instrument is withdrawn leaving the chest drainage tube in place. After withdrawal of the instrument, it is opened laterally for lateral disengagement with the chest drainage tube.

CARRIER ASSEMBLY FOR NEEDLE GUIDANCE, AND RELATED KITS FOR MOVABLY AFFIXING A SENSOR ASSEMBLY TO A BODY
20170296738 · 2017-10-19 ·

A carrier assembly and related sterile kits are disclosed. The carrier assembly is configured to be used with a sensor assembly for determining a characteristic of a human body. The carrier assembly comprises a frame member comprising a sidewall defining a central opening configured to receive at least a portion of the sensor assembly and laterally extending wing members hingedly attached at a proximal end thereof to the sidewall of the frame member. The laterally extending wing members each comprise a cavity proximate a distal end thereof and configured to receive a magnet. Related kits and systems are also disclosed.

STOMAL DILATOR
20170296225 · 2017-10-19 ·

A stomal dilator comprising a proximal end; a distal end; a tapered dilation portion positioned between the proximal end and distal end having a first length and a varied diameter that progressively increases in size from the proximal end to the distal end; the proximal end including a filiform tip having a substantially constant diameter at second length, and the distal end including a handle portion having a substantially constant diameter third length; and a flange positioned on the distal end preventing the stomal dilator from entering into a patient.

Endovascular devices and methods for exploiting intramural space

Devices and methods for the treatment of chronic total occlusions are provided. One disclosed embodiment comprises a method of facilitating treatment via a vascular wall defining a vascular lumen containing an occlusion therein. The method includes inserting an intramural crossing device into the vascular lumen, positioning at least the distal tip of the crossing device in the vascular wall, advancing an orienting device over the crossing device such that an orienting element of the orienting device resides in the vascular wall, inserting a reentry device, and re-entering the true vascular lumen.
