An apparatus can include a ceramic component, a metal component, and a glass sealing material that bonds the ceramic and metal components to each other. In an embodiment, the coefficients of thermal expansion of the components and glass sealing material can be within 4 ppm/ C. of one another. The metal component may be relatively oxidation resistant. The glass sealing material may have a relatively low amount of an amorphous phase as compared to one or more crystalline phases within the glass sealing material. The apparatuses can exhibit good bond strength even after long term exposure to high temperature, thermal cycling to a high temperature, or both. In an embodiment, the metal component may allow another metal component of a different composition to be used without a significant impact on the integrity of the bonded apparatus.
METAL-CERAMIC BASE MATERIAL, METAL-CERAMIC JOINT STRUCTURE, METHOD FOR PRODUCING METAL-CERAMIC JOINT STRUCTURE, AND MIXED POWDER MATERIAL
The present invention provides a metal-ceramic base material and the like which allow a ceramic base material and a desired metal material to be easily joined. A metal-ceramic base material (30) to be joined to a metal material (40), includes: a ceramic base material (20); and a metal film (25) provided on the ceramic base material (20), the metal film (25) being formed by thermal spray of a mixed powder material containing aluminum, alumina, and nickel, at least part of the nickel being exposed on a surface of the metal film (25).
TURBINE COMPONENT ASSEMBLY
A turbine component assembly is disclosed, including a first component, a second component, and an interface shield. The first component is arranged to be disposed adjacent to a hot gas path, and includes a ceramic matrix composite composition. The second component is adjacent to the first component and arranged to be disposed distal from the hot gas path across the first component. The interface shield is disposed on a contact region of the first component, and directly contacts the second component.
LEAD-FREE PIEZO PRINTHEAD USING THINNED BULK MATERIAL
An apparatus for a lead-free piezoelectric ink-jet printhead is disclosed. Piezoelectric printheads, while more expensive are favored because they use a wider variety of inks. The piezoelectric printhead includes a diaphragm, a plurality of piezoelectric actuators comprising a lead-free piezoelectric material, at least one nozzle, at least one ink chamber, a top electrode, and a drive circuit. The deflection of the diaphragm on the body chamber contributes to a pressure pulse that is used to eject a drop of liquid from the nozzle. According to an exemplary embodiment, a lead-free piezoelectric printhead operated at smaller thicknesses and significantly higher electric fields is disclosed, along with methods of making such printheads.
Ceramic tile fan blade containment
Fan blade containment system includes circular tile layer of annular ceramic tiles attached to and extending radially inwardly from a shell, radially inner and outer annular surfaces of ceramic tiles bonded to a radially inner composite layer and the shell respectively with elastomeric inner and outer adhesive layers respectively. Elastomeric adhesive layers between circumferentially adjacent overlapped or scarfed edges along circumferential edges of the ceramic tiles overlap and mate along oppositely facing surfaces of adjacent ones of the ceramic tiles. Inner and outer adhesive layers and elastomeric adhesive layer may be a double-sided adhesive foam tape. Scarfed edges may be bevels or rabbets. Shell may be made of a metal or composite material. Fan blade containment system may be bonded to and extend inwardly from fan case circumscribing fan blades of a fan. Inner composite layer and composite outer shell may be co-cured with ceramic tiles therebetween.
CONDUCTIVE HONEYCOMB STRUCTURE
A conductive honeycomb structure, comprising: a columnar ceramic honeycomb structure portion comprising an outer peripheral side wall and partition walls each disposed inside the outer peripheral side wall and defining a plurality of cells penetrating from one bottom surface to another bottom surface to form flow paths; a pair of electrode layers disposed on an outer surface of the outer peripheral side wall across a central axis of the honeycomb structure portion; and a pair of metal terminals joined to the respective electrode layers via one or more welded portions, wherein each of the one or more welded portions comprises a welded area of from 2 to 50 mm.sup.2.
Method for manufacturing plate for cement industry tube mill
A manufacture method of a lining plate structure for use with a tube mill for the cement industry. The manufacture method has the following three technical solutions: 1) metal lining plate, 2) ceramic lining plate, and 3) combined lining plate. The manufacture method includes: lining the concave-convex space, formed in the combination of metal lining plate and tube body, with corundum ceramic lining plate; then installing the combined lining plate on the steel plate of the tube body through inlaying, sticking and local welding. Under the same reference conditions of the present method, the weight of lining plate is reduced 50%, saving the steel material consumption by more than 50%; and the service life of the lining plate for use with the tube mill of cement industry is doubled, up to 15000-20000 hours.
REFRACTORY ARTICLE AND METHOD OF FORMING
A refractory article can include a socket including a cavity that is configured to receive a post, a particulate material, and a binder. The binder is configured to bond the post to the socket. The refractory article can include a sleeve coupled to the socket and configured to bond the post to the socket. In an embodiment, the sleeve can bond to the binder. In another embodiment, a collar can be placed between the sleeve and the binder. The collar can be configured to bond the post to the socket. A method of forming a refractory article can include disposing a particulate material within a cavity of a socket and placing a binder material overlying the particulate material.
METHOD FOR PRODUCING A COMPOSITE MATERIAL
A method for producing a composite material comprising a planar base material to which an additional layer is applied on one side or both sides via a solder layer, characterised by: providing the base material, wherein the base material has a first surface on at least one side; providing the additional layer and arranging the solder layer between a second surface of the additional layer and the first surface such that when the additional layer is deposited on the first surface, the first surface of the base material is covered by the solder layer in a planar manner; wherein a thickness of the solder layer between the base material and the additional layer is smaller than 12 m; heating the base material and the additional layer on the first surface to at least partially melt the solder layer and connecting the base material to the at least one additional layer.
