SELECTIVELY LOCKABLE HOLDING ARRANGEMENT FOR A SURGICAL ACCESS SYSTEM
Selectively lockable holding arrangements for a surgical access assembly are disclosed. One holding arrangement includes a body portion, an engagement barrel and a retaining member configured as a hook at a distal end of the body portion. The engagement barrel is position on a proximal end of the body portion and is configured to be selectively rotated about the body portion when operatively connected to a surgical holding arrangement. A rotation brake is mounted on the body section. The rotation brake is selectively operable to lock the engagement barrel against rotation.
Access device
An access device places a medical article within a body space of a patient. The device has a needle that includes an elongated body and a needle hub. The device further includes a dilator disposed on and slideable along the elongated body of the needle and a medical article. The medical article is disposed on and slideable along the dilator. A track extends in a proximal direction from the dilator. The needle hub slides along at least a portion of the track between a first position and a second position. The device further includes a locking mechanism operably disposed between the track and the needle hub so as to inhibit further axial movement of the needle in the proximal direction when the needle hub is in the second position.
Instrument access device
An instrument access device (500) comprises a distal O-ring (11) for insertion into a wound interior, a proximal member for location externally of a wound opening and a sleeve (12) extending in two layers between the distal O-ring (11) and the proximal member. The proximal member comprises an inner proximal ring member (25) and an outer proximal ring member (24) between which the sleeve (12) is led. A seal housing (300) is mounted to the inner proximal ring member (25). A gelatinous elastomeric seal (302) with a pinhole opening (303) therethrough is received in the housing (300). An instrument may be extended through the seal (302) to access the wound interior through the retracted wound opening in a sealed manner.
DELIVERY CATHETER AND CATHETER ARRANGEMENT
A delivery catheter for implanting a self-expanding implant such as a cardiovascular implant. An outer catheter shaft is formed as an implant capsule for encasing the implant during delivery. A flexible distal support element having a substantially truncated cone-shaped portion, which tapers in the proximal direction, is attached, directly proximally of the implant, in a fixed position to a first, inner catheter shaft, and/or a flexible proximal support element having a substantially truncated cone-shaped portion, which tapers in the proximal direction, is inserted at the proximal end of the implant capsule into the second, outer catheter shaft in a fixed position.
ADAPTER FOR A SURGICAL ACCESS DEVICE
An adapter used with a surgical access assembly is disclosed. The adapter includes an adapter body and a positioning member. The adapter body is defined by a distal end and a proximal end opposite the distal end. The positioning member extends from the distal end of the adapter body. A channel extends through the adapter body, extending from the proximal end and toward the distal end.
GUIDANCE SYSTEM MOUNTS FOR SURGICAL INTRODUCERS
A delicate tissue retraction system for use with a navigation probe having a probe shaft and a probe tip at a distal end of the probe shaft. The delicate tissue retraction system includes a retractor and an introducer that is removably installed within the retractor. The introducer has a wall forming a hollow channel extending from a proximal introducer end to a distal introducer end. A mount is integrally formed with the introducer and extends from the distal introducer end into the channel. The mount is positioned to surround the probe tip when the navigation probe is at a fully inserted position within the introducer with the probe tip at the distal introducer end.
SHEATHES FOR SURGICAL INSTRUMENTS, AND RELATED DEVICES AND METHODS
A sheath for a surgical instrument may include a sleeve having a distal end and proximal end, and a retention mechanism at a proximal end portion of the sleeve. The retention mechanism may comprise a sleeve attachment portion configured to be attached to the sleeve at the proximal end portion, and a locking collar extending from the sleeve attachment portion, wherein the locking collar is configured to receive a connector portion of a surgical instrument. The locking collar further may include a locking feature movable between a first configuration, in which the sheath is moveable relative to the surgical instrument, and a second configuration, in which the locking feature is configured to engage with the connector portion to retain the sheath in position on the surgical instrument.
SURGICAL INTRODUCER WITH GUIDANCE SYSTEM RECEPTACLE
A surgical introducer system having an outer introducer sidewall extending along a longitudinal axis from a proximal introducer end to a distal introducer end, an inner introducer sidewall extending within the outer introducer sidewall along the longitudinal axis and forming an introducer passage extending in a distal direction from a proximal passage opening at the proximal introducer end to an introducer passage end wall located proximal to the distal introducer end, and an end wall passage extending from the introducer passage end wall towards the distal introducer end. The introducer end wall passage joins the introducer end wall at one or more end wall edges defining an axial stop ring configured to contact the distal tip of a navigation probe between the probe shaft and a terminal end of the distal probe tip at a line of contact to thereby prevent movement of the navigation probe in the distal direction.
STOP-MOVEMENT DEVICE FOR ELONGATED MEDICAL ASSEMBLY
A stop-movement device is configured to be mounted to a first elongated medical assembly and a second elongated medical assembly. The stop-movement device has a body configured to stop, at least in part, relative movement between the second elongated medical assembly and the first elongated medical assembly.
Needle and introducer used in lead placement for obstructive sleep apnea treatment
A system for treating obstructive sleep apnea (OSA) is described. The system may include a locking device having a size and shape selected to couple to skin along a jaw of a patient. The locking device may be configured to receive at least one of a needle or an introducer for insertion into a tongue of the patient for lead placement of a lead for OSA treatment, and lock at least a portion of the at least one of the needle or introducer in place to reduce movement of the needle or introducer within the tongue.
