Access apparatus with integrated fluid connector and control valve
An access apparatus includes an access housing, an access member extending from the access housing, a fluid connector mounted to the access housing and a control valve mounted to the fluid connector. The control valve is positionable relative to the fluid connector between a first position corresponding to a desufflation operative state permitting rapid desufflation of the underlying body cavity, a second position corresponding to an insufflation operative state permitting insufflation fluid flow into the access member and into the underlying body cavity, and a third position corresponding to a closed operative state.
METHODS OF INSERTING A CIRCULAR STAPLING APPARATUS INTO A BODY LUMEN
A method of inserting a circular stapling apparatus into a body lumen includes inserting a distal portion of a shell assembly of the circular stapling apparatus in an entrance to a body lumen, introducing an insufflation fluid through an aperture defined in an outer surface of the shell assembly, and inserting a remainder of the shell assembly and a portion of an elongated member into the body lumen. Introducing the insufflation fluid through the aperture flows insufflation fluid into the body lumen.
Valve assemblies for surgical access assemblies
Access assemblies include an instrument valve housing and a valve assembly. The valve assembly includes a guard assembly, a seal assembly disposed adjacent to the guard assembly, and a gimbal mount assembly supporting the guard assembly and the seal assembly. The gimbal mount assembly is configured to permit angulation of the valve assembly relative to the instrument valve housing.
SURGICAL ROBOTIC ACCESS SYSTEM
The surgical robotic access system provides access for robotic instruments and/or actuators including the introduction, operation and withdrawal of such robotic manipulators into a body cavity without permitting the escape of pressurized fluid or gas. The surgical robotic access system also provides a multi-faceted range of movement without touching or effecting pressure on the opening in the patient's body cavity.
EXCISING INSTRUMENT, SYSTEM INCLUDING THE SAME, AND METHOD FOR REMOVING A TISSUE SPECIMEN OR ORGAN WITHIN A FLEXIBLE POUCH EXTENDING THROUGH A SMALL INCISION OR NATURAL OPENING IN A PATIENT
A system and method for removing a tissue specimen or organ from the body of patient is disclosed. The system includes a bag and an excising instrument. The tissue specimen or organ is located in the bag, which is located in the patient's body. The instrument comprises a guide and a cutter. The guide is configured for introduction into the bag. The cutter is rotatable within the guide and includes a central passageway and an annular cutting blade. The cutting blade is brought into engagement with a peripherally located portion of the tissue specimen and rotated to produce a tangentially cut peripheral portion while a pulling force is applied to the tissue specimen through the central passageway. The pulling force rotates the tissue specimen within the bag to effect the production of the tangentially cut peripheral portion and to move the tangentially cut peripheral portion out of the patient's body. Gas pressure may be applied to inflate the bag to facilitate placement of the excising instrument.
APPARATUS FOR PROVIDING ACCESS TO A BODY CAVITY OF A PATIENT FOR A MEDICAL PROCEDURE
Method and apparatuses for providing access to a body cavity of a living animal through an access port inserted in an incision made in a wall of the body cavity are disclosed. In some embodiments, the apparatus includes a cap configured to attach to the access port, the cap including an opening configured to permit insertion of a medical instrument through the cap and access port into the body cavity, and a tubular sleeve including a distal end sealingly connected at the opening and extending outwardly therefrom, the sleeve including a proximal end configured to receive and provide a seal with the medical instrument when received. The apparatus also includes a closure disposed to temporarily seal the sleeve prior to insertion of the medical instrument through the opening in the cap.
SURGICAL GAS DELIVERY DEVICE WITH INTERNAL GASEOUS SEALING MODULE AND FILTERED TUBE SET THEREFOR
A system for performing an endoscopic surgical procedure in a surgical cavity of a patient that includes a gas delivery device configured to deliver a flow of pressurized gas to a gas delivery lumen extending therefrom, a gaseous sealing module communicating with a distal end of the gas delivery lumen and configured to generate a gaseous seal within a gas sealed lumen extending therefrom, and an access port communicating with a distal end of the gas sealed lumen so as to provide sealed instrument access to the surgical cavity and maintain a stable pressure within the surgical cavity.
Self-adjusting pneumatically sealed trocar
A surgical access device including a housing having a nozzle assembly, a gas supply plenum, a gas return plenum, and a pressure sensing plenum, as well as an elongated tubular body that extends from the housing portion and defines a central lumen communicating with the nozzle assembly and the gas return plenum, a telescopic cannula assembly associated with the tubular body and including a proximal section arranged coaxially within the tubular body and a distal section coaxially supported within the proximal section and mounted for movement relative to the proximal section between retracted and extended positions, and an elastomeric sheath associated with the telescopic cannula assembly and having a distal anchor portion for securing the surgical access device during a laparoscopic surgical procedure.
SMOKE COLLECTING TROCAR
Embodiments of the present disclosure provide an apparatus and method for reducing surgical smoke. An exemplary apparatus includes trocar comprising a tubular hollow body circumscribing a cavity extending through a longitudinal axis of the trocar with a gasket at a first end and an exit port at a second end, the tubular hollow body comprising a first wall circumscribing the cavity and a concentrically spaced apart second wall. The apparatus further includes a first plate operable to maintain an electric charged disposed within the cavity on the first wall, and a second plate operable to maintain an electric charge disposed between the first wall and the spaced apart second wall.
Trocar System
A trocar system, having a trocar, a trocar sleeve, an optical channel extending coaxially in the trocar for receiving an optical unit, and a hollow transparent distal tip of the trocar, which can be observed from the interior by means of the optical unit, wherein a working channel extends continuously from the proximal end to the distal end in the trocar and opens into an outlet opening in the region of the distal end, and wherein the inner wall of the working channel is formed at least in an axially continuous sub-region of the circumference thereof by the trocar sleeve.
