SCISSOR SLEEVE ASSEMBLY PROTECTION
A sleeve extractor includes a cylindrical body having a distal end and a proximal end, one or more longitudinally-extending fingers defined in the body, and a tab provided on an end of each finger and receivable within a notch defined in a shaft adapter or a shaft of a surgical tool, the notch being located proximal to a proximal end of a sleeve. The sleeve is removed by locating the tab of each finger in a corresponding notch and retracting the body and the sleeve distally relative to the shaft adapter or the shaft.
DILATOR FOR ACCESSING A JOINT SPACE
Systems and methods for accessing an interior space of a joint such as a hip joint in preparation for arthroscopic surgery are provided. In general, the described techniques utilize a joint access device having a handle and a dilator shaft and/or sheath coupled to a distal end of the handle. The device can be advanced over a guidewire inserted into a joint to a first position and the guidewire can be reversibly locked to the handle. The handle can be associated with an actuator configured to be actuated to cause the dilator shaft and/or sheath to advance distally toward a second position within the joint while simultaneously retracting the guidewire coupled to the handle.
Automatic disinfecting machine for disinfecting the skin, and method
The invention relates to a method and an automatic disinfection machine for the controlled disinfection of the skin of a patient comprising a treatment chamber for accommodating the body part with the skin to be disinfected; an electrically controllable disinfecting device for disinfecting the skin, a recording device for recording the disinfection of the skin in the form of disinfection data, a data processing control device for controlling the disinfecting device and the recording device. The control device is thereby designed to effect the disinfection of the skin by controlling the disinfecting device, record the disinfection of a skin section of the skin in the form of disinfection data by controlling the recording device.
MEDICAL DEVICE AND TREATMENT METHOD
Medical devices and methods for puncturing tissue in a patient. The devices include a needle with a rigid proximal shaft, a flexible distal shaft, and a distal tip. The distal tip includes an electrode for delivering energy to puncture a tissue. In some embodiments, the distal shaft includes a superelastic material. In other embodiments, the distal shaft includes both a superelastic material and a non-superelastic material. The distal shaft includes shape memory enabling formation of an anchor within the patient.
Multi-access port for surgical robotic systems
A surgical access system is disclosed including a first robotic arm, a second robotic arm, and a surgical access device. The surgical access device includes an atraumatic outer housing defining an outer perimeter, a first access port including a first seal, a second access port including a second seal, a first docking portion, and a second docking portion. The first access port is configured to receive a first surgical tool and the second access port is configured to receive a second surgical tool. The first robotic arm is configured to be releasably coupled to the first docking portion to define a first remote center for the first surgical tool at the first access port and the second robotic arm is configured to be releasably coupled to the second docking portion to define a second remote center for the second surgical tool at the second access port.
SURGICAL ACCESS DEVICE WITH ACTIVE SMOKE FILTRATION
A surgical access device includes a housing with an elongate tubular member extending distally from the housing. The elongate tubular member has an open distal aperture. A first electrode is disposed in a first region of the elongate tubular member and circumscribes the elongate tubular member. The first electrode is coupled to an anode of a power supply and is configured to provide airborne particulate matter with a negative electric charge. A second electrode is disposed in a second region of the elongate tubular member and circumscribes the elongate tubular member. The second electrode is coupled to a cathode of a power supply and is configured to attract the airborne particulate matter.
SURGICAL CANNULA MOUNTS AND RELATED SYSTEMS AND METHODS
A cannula mount for a surgical system includes pivotable clamping arm with a first feature configured to engage a second feature of the cannula positioned in the cannula mount. The clamping arm comprises a cam follower surface. The cannula mount further comprises a latch member movable between at least a first position and a second position, and the latch member comprises a cam surface. On the condition that the latch member is in the first position, the cam surface engages the cam follower surface of the clamping arm to actuate the clamping arm to a closed position in which the first feature engages the second feature. On the condition the cam member is in the second position, the clamping arm is free to move to an open position in which the first feature does not engage the second feature. Devices and methods relate to cannula mounts.
Device, system and method for pericardial access
Device for accessing a pericardial space of a subject in need thereof, the device including a tubular member having an atraumatic distal end and a thread formed on, and at least partially around, the outer surface of the tubular member, proximally to the distal end; wherein the thread is configured to cut, puncture and/or penetrate a pericardium.
Powered drivers, intraosseous devices and methods to access bone marrow
An apparatus for penetrating bone and accessing bone marrow is provided. The apparatus may include a penetrator assembly and a powered drill. The penetrator assembly may include an inner penetrator having a stylet. The penetrator assembly may also include an outer penetrator having a hollow cannula and a luer lock attachment. The powered drill may include a housing enclosing a motor and a power supply and associated circuitry. The powered drill may also include a connector receptacle for receiving a penetrator assembly connector of the penetrator assembly. The powered drill may include a magnetic connection which releasably locks the penetrator assembly connector into place with the powered drill. The power supply may include a rechargeable battery within the housing for supplying power to the motor. A battery indicator may be provided to indicate a level of the battery.
TELESCOPING NEEDLE ASSEMBLY WITH SIDE CUTTING NEEDLE
A telescoping assembly such as an endobronchial ultrasound needle (EBUS) assembly includes a motor coupled to a biopsy needle within a telescoping housing to rotate (such as to oscillate) the needle during tissue harvest to improve harvesting.
