Surgical access device with air release mechanism
A surgical access device includes an elongate tubular member with a proximal region and a distal region. A passage extends through the elongate tubular member. The surgical access device also includes a balloon anchor with an expandable portion. A first portion of the balloon anchor extends proximally along the outer surface of the tubular member. The surgical access device also has a valve assembly disposed in the proximal region of the elongate tubular member that is fluidly coupled to the balloon anchor. A disc is slidably disposed on the elongate tubular member and includes a first blade with a first sharpened edge that is configured to penetrate the first portion of the balloon anchor. The first blade is transitionable between a retracted position and an extended position.
INTRODUCER SHEATH AND METHODS
A medical device for accessing body tissue or fluid is disclosed. The medical device may include an introducer sheath and a valve that impedes the flow of fluid through the introducer sheath. An assembly for selectively coupling components of a medical device is also disclosed. The assembly may comprise two components configured to engage with one another by at least a snap fit-type connection. This connection may facilitate disengagement of the two components via actuation of a release mechanism.
ACCESS TROCAR, METHOD FOR USING AN ACCESS TROCAR, KIT COMPRISING AN ACCESS TROCAR AND A GUIDEWIRE AND USE OF A GUIDEWIRE
The present invention concerns an access trocar (1) comprising: a cannula (20) equipped with a hollow portion (25) and with two ends (20′, 20″), where a first end of the cannula (20) is a free end (20′) and the opposite end is an end for connection (20″) to a handling portion (40) through a retention valve (12) and a sheath (10). The handling portion (40) comprises a rod (31) that is connectable to the hollow portion of the cannula (20) through the connecting end (20′); the cannula (20) also comprises an inflatable balloon (22) and a circlip (21) equipped with internal orifices for insertion regarding the cannula (20), where the inflatable balloon (22) is also connected to the retention valve (12) through a duct (23) connected to the cannula (20). It also describes a method for using an access trocar (1) and a kit comprising an access trocar (1) and a guidewire (45).
SIMPLIFIED SURGICAL CANNULA
Disclosed herein are multiple cannulas defining a lumen sized and dimensioned to receive one or more medical instruments, an inflatable outer membrane attached to an outer surface of the cannula, and at least one activator that reversibly pressurizes a fluid contained in the outer membrane to fill or pressurize the outer membrane.
Gas seal pad
A pad is provided having a body for providing a gas seal over a surgical site, a port extending between a first surface of the body and a second surface of the body and sized accept a surgical instrument, and a lumen situated along the body and having a first opening and a second opening, the second opening aligned with the surgical site for communicating a fluid flow to the surgical site.
Instrument port with fluid flush system
In at least some aspects, an instrument port for introducing an instrument into a surgical site comprises: a port body having: an instrument channel extending through the port body; and a plurality of fluid flush channels each separate from one another and the instrument channel, each extending along a major portion of the port body and in fluid communication with the instrument channel; and a bulb comprising a bulb channel extending through the bulb, the bulb channel aligned with the instrument channel, wherein the bulb channel and instrument channel are configured to receive the instrument.
SURGICAL ACCESS DEVICE WITH DIFFERENTIAL PRESSURE INDUCED FLUID EVACUATION
A surgical access device includes a tube and a housing coupled to the tube. The housing is configured for passage of a surgical instrument therethrough. The housing includes first and second chambers where the second chamber surrounds the first chamber. A seal is disposed in the first chamber. A port extends from the housing and is in fluid communication with the second chamber. A nozzle is defined between a distal portion of an outer wall of the first chamber and a wall of the housing. The nozzle is configured to direct fluid towards the second chamber.
RADIALLY EXPANDABLE CANNULA DEVICES, AND SYSTEMS AND METHODS FOR USING THEM
Cannula devices, systems, and methods are provided for introducing one or more instruments into a patient's body to perform a procedure. In one example, the cannula device includes first and second housings defining a throughbore, and a plurality of elongate members extending distally from the housings, the elongate members cooperatively defining a passage axially aligned with the throughbore between proximal ends and distal tips of the elongate members. The first housing is moveable in an axial direction with respect to the second housing to cause the proximal ends of the elongate members to move outwardly to increase a size of the passage and, optionally, may taper when expanded. Optionally, one or more secondary devices, e.g., an obturator with a sharpened tip, or an obturator and tubular access device may be provided that may be inserted through the throughbore into the passage before expansion of the passage.
SURGICAL ACCESS DEVICE WITH CHECK VALVE AND PLURAL DISCS
A surgical access device includes a check valve having baffling discs, a tube, and a housing. The housing has first and second housing halves. Baffling discs are configured to form a lumen. Each baffling disc is a conical annulus and is stacked adjacent to another baffling disc and spaced apart via spacers disposed on each baffling disc. The spacers help define a first gap between adjacent baffling discs for defining a first fluid path. A cover is coupled to the housing and permits access to the surgical access device. The housing is configured to receive the tube and the baffling discs, and the baffling discs are spaced apart from the first and second housing halves defining a second gap therebetween for defining a second fluid path. The first and second gaps form fluid convection channels for guiding fluid flowing in a proximal direction back into itself.
TROCAR
Provided is a trocar. An end tool mounting member is provided to place an end tool of a surgical instrument thereon, thereby facilitating the insertion of the surgical instrument having multiple joints into the trocar.
