Retrieval device and related methods of use
A medical device and a method for manipulating a tissue. The medical device includes two or more bars, a snare loop and a constricting element. Each bar includes a proximal end, and one or more distal ends, such that the bars are in close proximity at the proximal end. The snare loop maybe coupled to the distal ends of the bars. The constricting element maybe movably coupled to the bars, such that the constricting element expands the snare loop when positioned at the proximal end of the plurality of bars while the constricting element collapses the snare loop when positioned at the distal end of the plurality of bars, thus, keeping the distal end of the snare loop stationary with respect to the tissue.
METHOD FOR CLOSING A WOUND
A method for resecting a lesion in a wall of an organ of a patient includes injecting a fluid into the wall of the organ at a location proximate to the lesion, creating a wound in the wall of the organ by cutting the lesion from the wall of the luminal organ, removing at least a portion of the fluid injected into the wall of the organ, and closing the wound using a suture thread. The portion of fluid may be removed prior to or after partially threading the suture thread into the wall of the organ.
MEDICAL SYSTEM AND METHOD OF USE
Medical instruments, systems, and methods for applying energy to tissue, and more particularly ablating, sealing, coagulating, shrinking or creating lesions in tissue by means of contacting a targeted tissue in a patient with a vapor phase media wherein a subsequent vapor-to-liquid phase change of the media applies thermal energy to the tissue to cause an intended therapeutic effect. Variations include devices and methods for generating a flow of high-quality vapor and monitoring the vapor flow for various parameters with one or more sensors. In yet additional variations, the invention includes devices and methods for modulating parameters of the system in response to the observed parameters.
MINIMALLY INVASIVE MICROWAVE ABLATION DEVICE
An electrosurgical device (10) is provided that is operable to deliver microwave energy within a controlled angular expanse to cause targeted tissue ablation. The device (10) comprises a blocking or reflecting material such as cylindrical members (34) that are laterally spaced from the antenna (20) that is operable to emit the microwave energy. The reflecting material creates regions in and/or surrounding the device into which sensors (51), such as thermocouple wires, may be placed to monitor a condition associated with the device or the patient's body.
MEDICAL DEVICES AND RELATED METHODS
A medical device includes an electrode shaft and a tip. The electrode shaft is configured to deliver energy to a target site and includes an electrode shaft lumen configured to deliver fluid to the target site. The tip is coupled to a distal tip of the electrode shaft. The tip includes an inner portion of conductive material and an exterior layer of insulative material. The tip includes a tip lumen fluidly connected to the electrode shaft lumen and configured to deliver fluid to the target site.
ELECTROSURGICAL INSTRUMENT
An electrosurgical device having a radiating tip portion for delivering electromagnetic energy to biological tissue, where the electrosurgical device is disposed in a catheter. The electrosurgical device is movable relative to the catheter between a deployed position where the radiating tip portion is exposed and a retracted position where the radiating tip portion is contained within the catheter. In this manner, the radiating tip portion may be retracted until the moment when it is to be used. This may facilitate insertion of the device through an instrument channel of a surgical scoping device. In particular, this may prevent the radiating tip portion from catching on the instrument channel when the device is inserted into the instrument channel, which could cause damage to the instrument channel and/or radiating tip portion.
TREATMENT METHOD AND TREATMENT SYSTEM
A treatment method and a treatment system capable of effectively irradiating an antibody-photosensitive substance bound to a tumor cell with a near-infrared ray. The treatment method includes: intravenously administering the antibody-photosensitive substance; inserting a guide wire and a catheter into a main artery of an organ having the tumor cell; removing the guide wire; inserting an optical fiber into the catheter and advancing the optical fiber to a target position while checking a position of the optical fiber with an orientation marker disposed on the optical fiber; and irradiating the antibody-photosensitive substance bound to a tumor cell membrane with the near-infrared ray from the optical fiber while reducing an influence of blood in the artery on the near-infrared ray after 12 hours to 36 hours from intravenous administration.
ELECTROSURGICAL SYSTEM
An electrosurgical system for treating biological tissue that comprises: an electrosurgical generator to supply microwave energy; a surgical scoping device having a steerable insertion cord for insertion to a treatment site; and an electrosurgical instrument dimensioned to fit within an instrument channel that is located within the insertion cord. The electrosurgical instrument comprises: a flexible coaxial cable arranged to convey the microwave energy; and a radiating tip portion connected at an end of the coaxial cable and configured to receive microwave energy. The radiating tip portion comprises: a coaxial transmission line for conveying the microwave energy; and a needle tip mounted at an end of the proximal coaxial transmission line, wherein the electrosurgical instrument is slidable within the instrument channel to extend the needle tip beyond an end of the instrument channel to puncture biological tissue; the needle tip is arranged to deliver the microwave energy into biological tissue.
DEVICES, SYSTEMS, AND METHODS FOR MINIMALLY INVASIVE MODULATION OF ABDOMINAL TISSUE
Devices, systems, and methods for treating the pancreas are disclosed herein. For example, some aspects of the technology are directed to a method for treating a medical condition affecting the pancreas of a human patient, wherein the method comprises implanting an occlusive device within the pancreatic duct to induce atrophy of pancreatic tissue.
