Three-Dimensional Laser Scan for Fractional Injury
A laser system for fractional injury is provided that varies the amount of energy provided per each pulse to provide a series of first pulses each having a first energy and to provide a series of second pulses each having a second energy that is less than the first energy. A scanner distributes the series of first pulses across an area of tissue to be fractionally injured according to a first pitch and distributes the series of second pulses across the area of tissue to be fractionally injured according to a first pitch that is less than the first pitch.
ELECTROSURGICAL GENERATOR WITH A SINGLE USE ACTIVATION COUNTER, ELECTROSURGICAL GENERATOR SYSTEM AND METHOD FOR OPERATING AN ELECTROSURGICAL GENERATOR
An electrosurgical generator for operating an electrosurgical instrument, wherein the electrosurgical generator includes a data storage device coupled to the control device for storing a warning time and a switch-off time, the warning and switch-off time each being assigned to a detected instrument in order to assign an instrument-specific warning and switch-off time to each detected instrument, a time tracking device for determining an instrument-specific activation duration, wherein the activation duration is a duration of time detected from a first connection or first activation of an electrosurgical instrument connected to the instrument terminal to an actual time value, and wherein an activation duration is detected for each detected instrument, and the activation duration is recorded continuously and independently of the electrosurgical instrument operating state, and the control device triggers warning indication by triggering the signaling device when the determined activation duration exceeds the instrument-specific warning time of the connected instrument.
Surgical instrument systems comprising handle arrangements
A surgical instrument system comprising a first motor, a second motor, and a third motor is disclosed. The surgical instrument system comprises a first handle comprising a first number of controls, a second handle comprising a second number of controls, and a shaft assembly. The shaft assembly is attachable to the first handle in a first orientation in order to engage one of the motors. The shaft assembly is attachable to the second handle in a second orientation to engage a different motor. The surgical instrument system is configured to perform a different function of an end effector in the first orientation and the second orientation.
Control program adaptation based on device status and user input
A surgical system comprising a surgical instrument, a generator configured to supply power to an end effector, and a processor configured to run a control program to operate the surgical system is disclosed. The surgical instrument comprises the end effector which includes a first jaw and a second jaw. At least one of the first jaw and the second jaw is moved with respect to one another between an open position and a closed position. Tissue is configured to be positioned between the first jaw and the second jaw. The processor is configured to detect a first parameter of the surgical system, detect at least one user input, and modify the control program in response to the detected first parameter and the at least one user input.
SURGICAL DEVICES, SYSTEMS, AND METHODS PROVIDING VISUAL NOTIFICATIONS
A surgical apparatus includes an end effector having a blade defining a lumen extending through at least a portion of the blade, a cooling system configured to circulate cooling fluid through the lumen, a temperature sensor configured to sense a temperature of the blade, a visual indicator disposed at the end effector and configured to radiate light, and a controller configured to control the visual indicator based on the sensed temperature of the blade. The cooling system includes an inflow conduit disposed in communication with the lumen and configured to supply the cooling fluid to the lumen and a return conduit disposed in communication with the lumen and configured to receive the cooling fluid from the lumen.
Method and apparatus for selective treatment of biological tissue
An exemplary treatment system can be provided which can include a laser system configured to emit at least one laser beam, and an optical system configured to focus the laser beam(s) to a focal region at a selected distance from a surface of a tissue. The focal region can be configured to illuminate at least a portion of a target. The optical system can cause an irradiation energy transferred to the focal region of the laser beam(s) to (i) generate a plasma in a first region of the tissue adjacent to the target, and (ii) avoid a generation of a plasma in a second region of the tissue. The optical system has a numerical aperture that is in the range of about 0.5 to about 0.9. An exemplary method can also be provided to control such treatment system.
Non-thermal plasma generator for detection and treatment of maladies
A single non-thermal atmospheric plasma generation device is used to detect and analyze vital fields of a living subject to determine the presence of a condition, such as an illness or injury, and responsively modify characteristics of the plasma to treat, heal, or alleviate the condition. The device includes a capacitance dielectric discharge array of plasma emitters, and a controller having a power supply, a transformer, and circuit components for driving the transformer at a resonant frequency of the plasma emitters to cause the plurality of plasma emitters to ionize surrounding air and produce the non-thermal plasma. The resonant frequency is around 60 GHz and harmonics thereof. A receiver of the device recovers frequency mixing products from the plasma, which are extracted by signal processing circuitry; signals in the VHF and UHF bands are extracted and analyzed to determine whether signatures of particular vital fields are present.
