MEDICAL SUPPORT SLEEVE DEVICES, SYSTEMS AND METHODS
In general, medical sleeve systems that at least partially support a patient's arm in a selected position are described. In one embodiment, an example support sleeve includes a proximal end that defines an arm opening, a distal end, a wall that extends between the proximal end and the distal end, the wall including an anterior side portion and a posterior side portion, and an access port located on the anterior side portion proximate the distal end. The support sleeve may be manipulated between first and second positions, and at least partially maintained in the second position during a medical procedure.
Multi-layer pre-drape apparatus and process
A multi-layer pre-drape apparatus is applied to a patient before the patient is moved into the operating room. The multi-layer pre-drape apparatus includes a lower layer with a center aperture and an upper layer that covers the aperture. The multi-layer pre-drape apparatus can be placed on a sterilized area of the patient to maintain the cleanliness of the incision area. Alternatively, the multi-layer pre-drape apparatus can be placed on the patient and sterilization fluid can be applied to the skin of the patient through the aperture. The patient can then be moved into the operating room and the upper layer of the multi-layer pre-drape can be removed to expose the sterilized area of the patient in the aperture. Additional drapes can be added to the pre-drape apparatus.
Surgical Drape
A surgical drape may be configured for use with a patient positioning table for an anterior approach hip surgical procedure. In at least one illustrative embodiment the surgical drape may be specifically configured for use with an anterior approach hip total replacement surgery. The surgical drape is configured with an aperture that provides access to a patient's surgical site, which aperture may be generally rectangular-shaped in one illustrative embodiment. The aperture may be centered between a right and left edge of the surgical drape such that one configuration of the surgical drape may be used for an anterior approach hip surgical procedure of either a patient's left or right hip.
APPARATUS AND METHOD FOR DEPLOYING A PREOPERATIVE SKIN DISINFECTION DEVICE WITH INTEGRATED DRAPE
A device is provided for enclosing an extremity of a patient for container efficient wound cleaning and for integrating draping prior to surgery. A loose-fitting flexible container with a flexible seal is provided for enclosing the extremity and treating the extremity in a controlled fashion to reduce or eliminate spillage and unwanted dispersion of antiseptic solution. Sealed to the flexible container is a vacuum packed, folded and rolled sterile surgical drape. The combination of a flexible container and a sterile pre-positioned surgical drape in a single device provides the advantage of controlled decontamination of the skin or wound while simultaneously providing the advantage of pre-positioning a surgical drape. The use of the device also provides the advantages of reduced operating room fires and biohazard dispersion risk and reduced cost by reduction of total operating room time per procedure.
Pocket and Drape System for Providing Sterile Fields
A pocket and drape system which provides one or more sterile fields, as well as the methodology for employing said pocket and drape system is provided. The pocket and drape system includes a base drape material having an upper edge, a lower edge, a first side edge, and a second side edge to define a perimeter. The base drape material further includes a first longitudinal fold line, a second longitudinal fold line, a first transverse fold line and a second transverse fold line, wherein the first and second transverse fold lines are generally perpendicular to the first and second longitudinal fold lines. The base drape material has a first surface and an opposing second surface. In addition, the system includes a flap covering a portion of the first surface of the base drape material, wherein the flap has a first surface and an opposing second surface, wherein the flap maintains at least one sterile field. The system further includes a first row of pockets configured on the first surface of the flap, and a second row of pockets configured on the first surface of the base drape material.
Pocket and Drape System for Providing Sterile Fields
A pocket and drape system which provides multiple (e.g., at least two) sterile fields and the methodology for employing said system is provided. The system includes first and second base drape materials each having upper and lower edges edge both extending in a longitudinal direction and first and second side edges both extending in a transverse direction. The first base drape material and the second base drape material also each include a longitudinal fold line. A first zone of pockets is present on a surface of the first base drape material and a second zone of pockets is present on a surface of the second base drape material. The manner in which the base drape materials are folded and joined to each other during assembly (e.g., before sterilization) maintains the sterility of the first and second zone of pockets until each zone is ready for use during a medical procedure.
The system further includes a first row of pockets configured on the first surface of the flap, and a second row of pockets configured on the first surface of the base drape material. In addition, the system includes a flap configured to maintain at least one sterile field.
MEDICAL IRRIGATION DEVICE AND METHOD
An apparatus for supporting an extremity during tissue debridement and capturing fluid and tissue resulting from tissue debridement includes an extremity-supporting base. The apparatus may further include a barrier shroud. The apparatus can be used in tissue irrigation and debridement procedures to contain and control drainage of fluid and tissue. The apparatus supports a patient extremity, such as an arm or a leg. The base has a length, proximal end (i.e., nearest the patient's body), and distal end (i.e., farthest from the patient's body). The shroud can have a top portion, bottom portion, and shroud drainage opening. A method includes debriding tissue from a patient extremity supported by the base and at least partially enclosed within the barrier shroud, which acts as a shield for fluid and tissue emanating from the extremity. Fluid and tissue exit the shroud through a shroud drainage opening.
