Nail plate growth guide surgical implantation kit
A surgical kit for the repair of a nail bed includes implantable nail plate guides adapted to guide the regrowth of a fingernail over a nail bed, drapes, a suture needle with absorbable suture, a suture needle with non-absorbable suture, wound dressings, and all instruments required to perform the procedure. The instruments preferably include an elevator, a needle driver, a clamp, a tweezers, and a scissors. The kit also includes anesthesia, a syringe, and needles for loading and then administering the anesthesia to the finger. The kit may include a tourniquet, antiseptic, and an antiinfective. Therefore, the kit assembles together several nail plate guides, the instruments for implanting a selected one of the nail plate guides onto the nail bed over a patient, the pre-implantation surgical preparation materials, and the post-implantation wound care materials.
Medical irrigation device and method
An apparatus for supporting an extremity during tissue debridement and capturing fluid and tissue resulting from tissue debridement includes an extremity-supporting base and barrier shroud. The apparatus can be used in tissue debridement procedures to contain and control drainage of fluid and tissue. The apparatus supports and encloses a patient extremity, such as an arm or a leg. The base has a length, proximal end (i.e., nearest the patient's body), and distal end (i.e., farthest from the patient's body). The shroud has a top portion, bottom portion, and shroud drainage opening. A method includes debriding tissue from a patient extremity while supported by the base and at least partially enclosed within the barrier shroud, which acts as a shield for fluid and tissue emanating from the extremity. Fluid and tissue exits the shroud through a shroud drainage opening.
Medical drape
A medical drape is disclosed. The drape comprises a base drape portion and an insert drape portion removably attached to the base drape portion. A plurality of independently configured insert drape portions may be used, each insert being configured differently for a different procedure. The base drape portion may be made of environmentally friendly biodegradable material.
Medical wound covering employing electrical stimulation to control blood flow
A medical wound covering for controlling blood flow includes a flexible sheet for covering or surrounding the anatomical site of a wound, such as a surgical drape. The flexible sheet includes a plurality of electrodes electrically connectible to a stimulation power supply. Upon receipt of power from the stimulation power supply, the electrodes supply electrical impulses to the anatomical site of the wound in order to stem or arrest undesired bleeding. In some cases, the stimulation power supply is an interferential therapy power supply, and a pair of electrodes supplies electrical impulses at two different frequencies, the electrical impulses provided at two different frequencies giving rise to at least one beat impulse having an interference frequency. The beat impulse activates the sympathetic nerves to induce vasoconstriction in the local blood vessels. Alternatively, the beat impulse can be programmed to target the parasympathetic nerves if vasodilatation is desired.
MULTI-LAYER PRE-DRAPE APPARATUS AND PROCESS
A multi-layer pre-drape apparatus is applied to a patient before the patient is moved into the operating room. The multi-layer pre-drape apparatus includes a lower layer with a center aperture and an upper layer that covers the aperture. The multi-layer pre-drape apparatus can be placed on a sterilized area of the patient to maintain the cleanliness of the incision area. Alternatively, the multi-layer pre-drape apparatus can be placed on the patient and sterilization fluid can be applied to the skin of the patient through the aperture. The patient can then be moved into the operating room and the upper layer of the multi-layer pre-drape can be removed to expose the sterilized area of the patient in the aperture. Additional drapes can be added to the pre-drape apparatus.
MEDICAL SUPPORT SLEEVE DEVICES, SYSTEMS AND METHODS
In general, medical sleeve systems that at least partially support a patient's arm in a selected position are described. In one embodiment, an example support sleeve includes a proximal end that defines an arm opening, a distal end, a wall that extends between the proximal end and the distal end, the wall including an anterior side portion and a posterior side portion, and an access port located on the anterior side portion proximate the distal end. The support sleeve may be manipulated between first and second positions, and at least partially maintained in the second position during a medical procedure.
Medical table and surgical drape for use in surgical procedures
A surgical drape is disclosed herein that is to be used for medical procedures in order to ensure sterile portions are not contaminated. The surgical drape can be configured to be placed around a surgical site where an operative procedure is to be conducted. The surgical drape includes a u-shaped opening, at least one sleeve, and at least one flap on its proximal end. The at least one sleeve and the at least one flap extend outwardly from a top surface of the drape. The at least one flap includes adhesive components on one side that allow the at least one flap to be folded back on to itself to provide additional protective barrier from contamination.
Systems and methods for ligament balancing in robotic surgery
Systems and methods for ligament balancing during robotic surgery. One or more transducers are positioned within a knee joint to detect forces indicative of tension in ligaments and to provide output based on the detected forces. A distraction device is used to provide a distraction force to cause movement of a distal end portion of a femur relative to a proximal end portion of a tibia to increase tension in the ligaments. Information associated with output from the transducers is displayed for viewing.
Arm sleeve
An operating table arm board arm sleeve is disclosed, comprising a first rectangular flexible material having left and right edges extending substantially parallel to a longitudinal axis of the arm board between proximal and distal ends of a top side of the arm sleeve; and a bottom side comprising a second rectangular flexible material having left and right edges extending substantially parallel to the longitudinal axis between proximal and distal ends of the bottom side of the arm sleeve, the bottom side having a length and width equal to the length and width of the top side, the bottom side distal end attached to the top side distal end and cooperating to form a closed distal end, the left edge of the bottom side fastenable to the left edge of the top side, and the right edge of the bottom side fastenable to the right edge of the top side.
