Polymers based on naphthodiones
The present invention relates to polymers comprising one or more (repeating) unit(s) of the formula (I), and compounds of formula (III), wherein Y, Y.sup.15, Y.sup.16 and Y.sup.17 are independently of each other a group of formula and their use as IR absorber, organic semiconductor in organic devices, especially in organic photovoltaics and photodiodes, or in a device containing a diode and/or an organic field effect transistor. The polymers and compounds according to the invention can have excellent solubility in organic solvents and excellent film-forming properties. In addition, high efficiency of energy conversion, excellent field-effect mobility, good on/off current ratios and/or excellent stability can be observed, when the polymers and compounds according to the invention are used in organic field effect transistors, organic photovoltaics and photodiodes. ##STR00001##

A composition for resist underlayer film formation contains: a compound having a partial structure represented by the following formula (1); and a solvent. In the formula (1): X represents a group represented by formula (i), (ii), (iii) or (iv). In the formula (i): R.sup.1 and R.sup.2 each independently represent a hydrogen atom, a substituted or unsubstituted monovalent aliphatic hydrocarbon group having 1 to 20 carbon atoms, or a substituted or unsubstituted aralkyl group having 7 to 20 carbon atoms provided that at least one of R.sup.1 and R.sup.2 represents the substituted or unsubstituted monovalent aliphatic hydrocarbon group having 1 to 20 carbon atoms or the substituted or unsubstituted aralkyl group having 7 to 20 carbon atoms; or R.sup.1 and R.sup.2 taken together represent a part of a ring structure having 3 to 20 ring atoms together with the carbon atom to which R.sup.1 and R.sup.2 bond. ##STR00001##

The present invention relates to copolymers containing indenocarbazole derivatives having electron- and hole-transporting properties, in particular for use in the interlayer, emission layer and/or charge-transport layer of electroluminescent devices. The invention furthermore relates to a process for the preparation of the compounds according to the invention and to electronic devices comprising these compounds.
Azinothiadiazole Compounds and Related Semiconductor Devices
The present invention relates to new semiconducting compounds having at least one optionally substituted azino[1,2,3]thiadiazole moiety. The compounds disclosed herein can exhibit high carrier mobility and/or efficient light absorption/emission characteristics, and can possess certain processing advantages such as solution-processability and/or good stability at ambient conditions.
ADHESIVE COMPOSITION AND METHOD OF MAKING AND USING THE SAME
An adhesive composition and methods of making and using the same are disclosed. The composition includes a polymeric component and a metal cation or an oxidant. The polymeric component includes a silk fibroin protein and a catecholamine. The metal cation and/or the oxidant is present in an amount sufficient to initiate complexing and/or cross-linking of the adhesive composition.
Ceramic-polymer nanocomposites
Method for preparing a ceramic-polymer nanocomposite is provided. The method includes providing a polymer comprising radicals on a surface thereof; contacting the polymer with a functionalizing agent to form a functionalized polymer; and either (i) grafting a cross-linking agent onto the functionalized polymer to form a graft copolymer, and attaching ceramic nanostructures to the graft copolymer to form a ceramic-polymer nanocomposite, or (ii) grafting a cross-linking agent onto ceramic nanostructures to form modified ceramic nanostructures, and attaching the modified ceramic nanostructures to the functionalized polymer to form a ceramic-polymer nanocomposite. A ceramic-polymer nanocomposite and use of the ceramic-polymer nanocomposite are also provided.

Provided is a process for preparing a composition comprising semiconducting single-walled carbon nanotubes, a semiconducting polymer and solvent A (composition A), which process comprises the step of separating composition A from a composition comprising semiconducting and metallic single-walled carbon nanotubes, the semiconducting polymer and solvent B (composition B), wherein the semiconducting polymer has a band gap in the range of 0.5 to 1.8 eV and solvent A and B comprise an aromatic or a heteroaromatic solvent, composition A itself, a process for forming an electronic device, which process comprises the step of forming a layer by applying composition A to a precursor of the electronic device, as well as the electronic device obtainable by this process.
POLYMER COMPRISING REPEATING UNITS CONSISTING OF A SUBSTITUTED PYRROLE RING AND PRODUCTS OBTAINED BY COMBINING SAID POLYMERS WITH CARBON ALLOTROPES
The present invention relates to a polymer comprising repeating units consisting of a substituted pyrrole ring. In particular, the repeating units consist of substituted pyrrole containing polar groups capable of interacting with carbon allotropes such as carbon nanotubes, graphene or nanographites, in order to improve the chemical-physical characteristics of the allotropes mainly by increasing their dispersibility and stability in liquid media and in polymer matrices. The invention also relates to products of addition of these polymers with carbon allotropes in order to obtain easily dispersible macromolecules.

The organic semiconductor element according to the present invention has an organic semiconductor layer containing a compound having a constitutional repeating unit represented by Formula 1.
