Packaging system for oxygen-sensitive drugs
Described herein are pharmaceutical packaging systems which prevent oxidative degradation of oxygen-sensitive drugs, such systems including a primary packaging container with an oxygen permeable component, a secondary packaging with very low permeability to oxygen and an oxygen absorber.
SHARPS COLLECTION TRAY AND CONTAINER SYSTEM
A sharps collection system includes a container and a tray. The tray conveys medical waste from a drop area to a storage area in the container. The tray includes a proximal-most edge, a distal-most edge opposite the proximal-most edge, and an acceleration zone between the proximal-most edge and the distal-most edge. in addition, the tray includes one or more features that perform one or more of the following functions: (1) accelerate movement of waste out of the drop area and into the storage area, (2) minimize the effects of adverse conditions, such as moisture or sticky surfaces on the tray that impede or prevent movement of waste, and (3) expedite the return of the tray from a drop position to an equilibrium position to receive waste more readily.
MEDICAL DEVICE PACKAGING SYSTEMS AND METHODS
A method includes hermetically sealing a medical device within a pouch, the pouch including peeling panels that are free from one another. The pouch is placed within a tray and the peeling panels are attached to unloading handles of the tray. The unloading handles are releasably coupled together. The method further includes simultaneously separating the unloading handles and the peeling panels to open the pouch and expose the medical device for removal thereof.
Safety-Blade Dispenser and Related Methods
Safety-blade dispensers for safely storing surgical blades prior to surgery and optionally for retrieving used surgical blades after surgery. In either case, the safety-blade dispenser is configured to store one or more surgical blades in an orientation that allows a user to simply and safely attach a surgical tool handle to the surgical blades (and optionally remove the handle from the surgical blades) without requiring the user to physically touch or manipulate the surgical blades by hand. The safety-blade dispensers disclosed herein may be used alone or in conjunction with a system and method of preventing wrong-site surgery.
Dispensing cartridge for tacking nails for attaching medical-grade films to bones
A dispensing cartridge is provided for holding one or more tacking nails for attaching medical-grade films to bones. The cartridge includes a base body having a plateau area with a plurality of grooved depressions formed therein. Slotted openings extend through the grooved depressions and are adapted for holding a plurality of the tacking nails. A gripping area is disposed adjacent to the plateau area and is provided with knob-like or wavy elevations. A support area is disposed underneath the plateau area and provides support to the base body. A transparent plastic layer may be disposed over and conform to the base body of the dispensing cartridge so as to form a plastic package.
Sterile Packaging of K-Wire and Cap
A method is provided for sterile packaging of a Kirschner wire (K-wire) and cap for shipping and storage, such that the K-wire and cap may be removed from the sterile packaging and used during a surgery. The method comprises sterile packaging the K-wire into a first container, sterile packaging the cap into a second container, and then bundling the first and second containers into a third container. In some embodiments, the first container may be comprised of a sterile interior environment within a double tube container, and the second container may be comprised of peel pouch configured to be unsealed during the surgery. In some embodiments, the K-wire and the cap may be placed together onto a mounting card that is then sterile packaged into a peel pouch that may be unsealed during the surgery.
DEVICE AND METHOD FOR FOLDING AN INSTRUMENT SET IN A PACKAGE
Device for folding an instrument tray into a packaging material, comprising a supporting surface for supporting the instrument tray during folding of the instrument tray into the packaging material, a first folding plate and a second folding plate, a movable folding aid for fixing the packaging material over a predefined line portion before and/or during the making of a fold, at least one movable clamp for gripping and moving the packaging material, a control unit for controlling the movement of the first folding plate between its respective first and second positions, the movement of the second folding plate between its respective first and second positions, the movement of the folding aid, and the movement and clamping and release of the at least one clamp.
MEDICAL TESTING APPARATUS AND METHOD OF USE
A medical testing apparatus and method of use for for penetrating a patient's tissue with an agent, the apparatus comprises an arcuate rail having spaced first and second sides supported by upper and lower arcuate surfaces and an arcuate handle having first and second ends extending from the upper surface of the arcuate rail. A plurality of tips extend substantially from and normally outward as the lower arcuate surface. The plurality of tips comprises alternating blunt tips and reed tips.
PROTECTIVE VIAL FOR MEDICAL DEVICE
A protective device for maintaining the sterilization of a self-drilling anchor inserter and prohibiting the sharp, drilling point of the inserter from puncturing sterile packaging. The device includes a cannulated tube having a proximal end and a distal end. The cannulated tube extends along a longitudinal axis and has proximal and distal portions. The proximal portion extends to the proximal end and the distal portion extends to the distal end. The cannulated tube also has an inner volume. A first slot extends into the inner volume and along the proximal portion toward the proximal end. A second slot extends partially into the cannulated tube between the proximal portion and the distal portion. A connecting portion attaches the proximal portion to the distal portion. The proximal portion is movable relative to the distal portion, between an aligned position and a bent position.
BLOOD GLUCOSE MANAGEMENT SYSTEM
A biological property testing device includes a base comprising a primary surface extending in a base plane, and a first lancet station supported by the base. A first test strip channel provided in the base can have a main channel portion extending generally parallel with the base plane, and an angled channel portion that forms an angle with the main channel portion between 5 degrees and 90 degrees. The first test strip channel can house a biological test strip oriented so that a meter connecting end of the biological test strip is adjacent to the main channel portion and a sample end of the biological test strip is adjacent to the angled channel portion.
